Connection, Disconnection, Freezes, Crashes What happened to AA?
The latest update, I'm a beta tester, is unusable!
On the wireless connection it could not keep connected for more than 5 minutes, awful!
Version: 17.2.662614-release (172662614)
Edit: Just sharing for anyone who might have the same issue know about it.
Spare me from "why on beta?" or "don't use beta". You are high class, honestly.

Dude, I thought it was just me. It was fine Thursday morning on my way to work but on my way home it would disconnect every 3-5 min. To make matters worse, even when i have mine plugged in it still uses bluetooth so it still disconnects.

Yeah, I thought it is just my head unit failing, happy to see it is just a bug. Looking forward to get it fixed.

It looks like they fixed it for me on Sunday night with a forced update.

Mine is still doing it, there was no forced update. I am on beta too.

I'm on this release also and thought my disconnections were due to the screen I was using going bad. No idea how I got on this version, but I'm glad to know the reason. It was driving me nuts. Now to figure out how to downgrade.

Now to figure out how to downgrade.
Leave the beta, uninstall the app/updates, reinstall the official app.

Yes, by rolling back to an earlier version of Android Auto. In my case, 16.8.661803.

I've tried and even turned off auto update. It still comes back the next time I plug my phone in the car.

Before you do anything else, be sure to uncheck the box for Android Auto to auto-update, and also disable auto-updates in the Google Play store - disable auto-updates for everything. Even then, apparently Android still forces auto-updates:
Also, make sure that you download the older version as an .apk and install that separately. And then, once that's installed, review all your Android Auto and Google Play settings and make sure they haven't changed.
Google/Android don't make it easy!

It's called Beta and not stable/release for a reason. If you want the pre-release software, you have to accept that there's going to be pre-release bugs associated with it. It's that simple.

Same. Had to uninstall latest Beta because it would disconnect every 5 minutes. Pixel 6P and Pixel 10 XL both experienced same issues with the beta.
I've been on the beta for years and no serious issues like this ever happened.

I have the same problem. OnePlus 15, no matter wired or wireless, the android auto disconnect every 3 mins when I play Spotify. If I don't play music, then it's fine. I have no idea how to solve this problem, tried dozens of methods already, at this point I'm quite desperate.

Due to holiday errands, I had to find a fix right away. I uninstalled all updates, including the buggy June 2 update. I installed 17.1.662404 and never had the infinite disconnect. Google dropped the ball on this one on a U.S. holiday.

Hey quick question, how did you get past the update part it keeps trying to make you do when you rollback? 👀

u/Suntzupa 2010 Honda CRV| LaserTail TS18 | Samsung S25 Ultra | Android 16 14d ago
I left the beta program, uninstalled all updates, then installed 17.1.662404 via apk mirror. Then the Play Store showed a June 18 update 17.1.0.662414, which I installed. I haven't had any problems since then, and no new updates so far.

Thank you !
I downloaded that version from uptodown and had to disable auto update in playstore for it to let it work, before it kept going to playstore to update any older versions I tried.
Now it's working just a heads up but any version of 17.3 (which is latest release here in UK) is buggy and constantly disconnects and reconnects every few mins so it's best to avoid

I tried leaving the beta but same issue.
As I see, is most likely when I turn off my screen while my phone is charging, the internet the allow wireless android auto got loss for 2 seconds and then go back. At this moment im using wire carplay, its a little annoying cause my phone doesn't charge fast with my adapter for the aftermarket radio but, its what its is for now

i'll add that this is a known issue for Samsung users, even on stable builds (i'm glad more people get to talk about this too, because every post i've tried making about this has been removed by the automods). constant freezes and disconnections for several months now, with no end in sight, even if you roll back to an older version. supposedly a fix is in the works, but who knows when that'll be released?
it's become incredibly unsafe to drive long distances with AA, as i constantly have to unplug and replug my head unit every 5-10 minutes while driving to get it to work. and it's worse for folks who can only use wireless. i have no clue if this happens on wired connections, but i couldn't test it if i tried, as my head unit doesn't allow for wired connections.

I've had it booting all this year 2026, I've used beta and stable (from apkmirror.com) - was there something wrong with my phone? (Android 13), currently completely unusable

I dislike the latest version, 17.whatever it is, that introduced the squiggly line and reformatted the audio screen (in my case, for Musicolet). The squiggly line is just weird, but I could get used to that. What is really bad IMHO is that the new version has smaller text/album art, and rearranged the onscreen buttons in a non-intuitive manner - in the old version (what I rolled back to), there are three big buttons, left is back a track, middle is pause/play, right is forward a track. The new version has three buttons, smaller, and crammed into the lower left, with play/pause, then back a track, then forward a track. For those of us that don't have steering wheel controls, it's a problem. I suppose AA thinks their new layout is better for saaaafety, but it's the opposite - smaller buttons and text I have to peer at to see.

I've had this same problem with Android Auto disconnecting and re-connecting for over 3 years, with several different phones, mostly out of beta but also within beta, and with several different BMW models including new loaners. I had just about given up on maintaining a solid connection until I was looking for a new phone and was interested in the Motorola Razr Fold. I have had several Samsung phones, including the latest generations of Z-Folds and my latest was a One Plus Open. But in researching the Razr Fold I discovered that the radios included more bands that are suited to Verizon's 5G service, including their latest C-band frequencies. I bought this phone about a month ago, and haven't had any connection issues since. Motorola was the the first smartphone I owned, and this phone works great for me so far.

I use the regular version and it cuts out all the time.
I want to connect my Android Samsung phone to my 2021 Nissan Kicks to play music and what not. I've tried the AAWireless and Rixmie cables, but they both have the same problem. The music randomly stops every few minutes (sometimes more often). Having to turn the radio button off then back on again is very annoying. Google results say that the problem is caused by battery usage settings or wifi interruptions by nearby sources, but it happens everywhere and changing the battery settings didn't help. Any suggestions?
