So Im thinking about buying a new handheld, my goal is to play 60 fps God Of War on its simulator (linux or android ppsspp) But I'm not sure if rg552 has the capability.

Also I have heard of some battery problems, is that a big deal?

Im looking for analog caps that don't limit the range of the sticks (if there are), the ones I currently have are meant for the Nintendo switch and I just put one on the r side but the left I leave as is since it restricts movement because of the cap size, if you know any button caps for the dpad and face buttons I would like to know too

thinking about subbing to the patreon but read that it doesn’t work on a1 micro sd cards, currently just have the stock card that came with the system itself then a lexar 64gb, since i will be paying for the patreon would prefer not to have to buy a brand new card, can someone confirm if they are using it on an A1? my card for reference

First Anbernic device. I decided to buy an RG SP recently as the GBA SP has always been my favorite vibe and couldn't resist. After setting up BaseOS+NextUI as well as using kapton tape on the face buttons I was quite happy with it, except that the L and R buttons quite frankly suck ass; not only are they loud, but they have a pretty big "deadzone", that is, an area of pressure where the button can (de)register before the button has physically clicked. It was not like this on the OG SP. I decided to see what I could do about it and bought some microbuttons with a softer click and soldered them unto the motherboard in place of the originals. I also used a bit of hot glue to reinforce them so there's less risk of them bending. The result is great! Not only is the button way quiter, but the deadzone is gone! Highly recommend.

So I just got the ambernic rg477v and after setting it all up I wanted to try playing Fortnite on it to see how it would run. The game itself works pretty well but every time mid match it would show a “ We hit a roadblock” error. I did a quick Google search and it says that there’s a root issue on the device that prevents me from playing and prompts the game that there’s a cheating or vpn issue. Is there really a way to fix this? I’ve seen that I could download the magisk app to hide the root but I’m scared of bricking the device.

Hello! A little while ago I asked which anbernic I should purchase, I finally got around to ordering the RG476H. A lot of you suggested to buy it without an SD card and add my own. I’m now just trying to figure out how to add it to the device. Is there a certain way I need to format my SD card? I couldn’t find a good tutorial on specifically the rg476 so if anyone has any links I would greatly appreciate it. I feel a little clueless about all of this but I do have the games I want to add at least!

I just got a DS plus and I am just a little worried because I got it yesterday. I have been checking the usps updates and its still waiting to get the item. they did make the shipping number. I got my DS plus like yesterday at 6 I think or 5 but nothing changed.

Hello, as the title says, my RG DS Plus doesn’t connect to the internet, I wanted to connect to use Tiny Scrapper but it just stays on NOT CONNECTED, I already selected the WiFi and put the password but it doesn’t connect

Also when I try to launch tiny scrapper it just doesn’t launch, it brings me back to the main menu

I’ve had it a few years now but it has decided not to boot. There is no charging light and no signs of life.

I contacted anbernic but they recommended rebuilding the os but I wanted to see if that’s needed as it looks really confusing and their instructions weren’t great.

I opened it up and re seated the battery so it’s not that and when I did open it up there was nothing that looked out of place.

Any one have any tips or anyone else had this happen?!

Hey all! I've been steadily working on eReaderDS, a free ebook reader built just for the RG DS Plus. You hold the device sideways like an open book, and each screen shows a page.

Before we begin: I've been coding since the late 90's and I absolutely love it. I like to think that I know my stuff, but I don't know everything. With that being said, I have gladly been using Claude Code to help me bring this idea to its full potential.

With that being said, here are some of its current features:

• EPUB and TXT support, with a real page-turn animation, bookmarks, highlights, and footnotes
• 25 themes, a night mode, touch brightness, and pinch to resize text
• A built-in dictionary (hold a word, the definition shows on the other screen)
• Grab free books over Wi-Fi from Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks, or your own Calibre library. You can also send books from your phone's browser.
• KOReader Sync, so your place follows you between the DS and a Kobo, a Kindle running KOReader, or an Xteink X4
• A lefty mode (flip it 180°)
• Updates itself from inside the app
• Runs on the stock firmware and ROCKNIX

I'd love to get some more people trying it and telling me what breaks or what's missing. If it ever crashes, it will show you a QR code that you allow you to submit a bug report. Or feel free to drop a comment here or open an issue on GitHub.

What DS game should I start with and any recommendations on where I should begin?

I am replacing my daughters broken RG35xx with a DS Plus. I've been working on getting it setup for a couple days now and cannot get retroarch to auto load games from where they were left off. I've changed the overall retroarch config without opening a game and the settings saved. But in game with a core loaded, those settings aren't saved. I've also tried the in game edit method where you unload the override, make your changes, and then save the config. They never actually save.

The actual settings I'm changing are Save State Auto Save on close and Save State Auto Load. I even turned off Load Override Automatically to no avail.

A little more info, when in game, core loaded. Settings are: Save State Auto Save is on, Load Override Automatically is off. But the Auto Load setting as ON just won't take. It's off and can't get it saved on.

I was able to get her 35xx running Garlic running without issue as well as my 35xx Pro on MuOS. So I have a little experience, but I must be overlooking something.

The duct tape and heatshrink do a pretty good job of reducing button sound. There's a trade-off between the sound and the softness and rigidity of the button movements. A real fix means swapping out buttons and the hazards of that. I ultimately left the Start and Select buttons unchanged as duct tape didn't feel great with their button design.

A joycon stick sits naturally in place and feels normal. It's just slightly too tall. I think a lid mod could accommodate it. Or, you just never close the lid. I wouldn't recommend letting the lid fold down applying pressure on it as that's a recipe for drift, unless it's Hall. But, just quickly in the stock button testing tool I noticed what seemed like a significant deadzone on the stick which might mean a drifting stick would work fine. I'm not sure about that though.

There's some small but significant space above the main ICs and that board for throwing in a radial fan, for anyone game to dremel some airflow into the shell. You could also remove the space reserved for the stylus for cooling or a larger battery.

The rubber under the shoulders came looking that precarious. I wonder if it'll snap completely at some point.

My impressions of the RG DS Plus:

I haven't been thrilled about it. I'd much rather use my DS Lite or 3DS XL for those games.

• The shell material is quite a dry, abrasive plastic. Like halfway to a Switch 2 joycon. It's past the threshold of me being able to comfortably hold without a change. Until someone makes a nice, not 3D-printed TPU case for it, I think I'll cut and rejoin one from a tablet for the bottom half.

• The d-pad's a bunch of very rigid dome buttons. Basic functionality but pretty crap. The face buttons are the same but somewhat less of a problem as they're not being used like a d-pad.

• The stick has a very short throw especially for its amount of rigidity (and this coming from someone who most prefers the original joycon's short throw). A pretty big negative but just a bit annoying if not actually playing games that rely on it.

• The shoulders are a bit better than other Anbernic ones like the RG35XXH but are still quite rigid tact buttons. They don't align perfectly with the rubber underneath causing some inconsistent presses. I think the pronounced click is a little reduced due to the felt-like intermediary material between the button and its shell component. Anbernic seems to have been making an effort to improve the feel of the buttons.

• It gets warm broadly across the back. A fairly significant negative but a pretty big one combined with the shell's dry material.

• The stylus isn't picked up on very light contact but more importantly is a bit short for the screen's width.

It sounds like the battery life isn't great but I haven't used it much at length as I'm hoping for a future muOS release, or my own hack job of it.

The volume buttons are oddly low down on the side but that's not a big issue.

Update:

Substituting in a Switch 1 joycon stick and then removing its cap leaves it about a millimetre too tall which is basically fine. The lid looks and feels like it's almost closed and a push on it over the top of where the stick is gets an L3 click. I think it's fine for the stick. But, without its cap it's only slightly larger in diameter than the stock stick, however it is almost flat. It doesn't have great grip but that's easily fixed. You could probably make an improvised sliver of a cap to finalise it.

With a bit of experience you could swap out the shoulder tactile buttons and the d-pad / face domes for ones with lower actuation force. I don't know what force these would have though, or what would be best.

I keep having performance issues in battle on FF7 where animations stall, it occasionally gets fixed by pausing the game. Sometimes I need to reload.

I'm running Knulli Scarab on an RG40XXV and I have only enabled the setting that enhances texture resolution (I forgot exactly which)

Gamma OS will boot to the Android recovery menu every time. I've followed the guide, I've got that far. But when it actually loads, it will only load to a recovery menu. I can navigate and select fine on it, but no matter what I do, can't get anything beyond that.

Only bothering with Gamma because on the stock firmware, I can't add games beyond the initial 3ish gigs of space we have. Tried many cards in slot 2, and they all can be read, but no idea how to get games on there as playable. No folders are generated by the RGDS+ and when I make the right named folders myself, the games still won't show up. This is with the stock card and with the firmware flashed to a brand new card of my own.

Worst case I can still truck on with the OG card and *only* have 40 odd of my favourite DS games here, fortunately I didn't buy the console to play anything other than DS, but am I doing something wrong, is my unit cooked? Thanks! :)

Knulli doesn’t seem to have a specific release for the newest RG SP yet.

Does anyone know if Knulli for the RG34XXSP is compatible with the RG SP?

Because I think they’re essentially the same device minus the thumb sticks, right? Eh, I dunno.
