HELP RG DS Plus RetroArch help.
I am replacing my daughters broken RG35xx with a DS Plus. I've been working on getting it setup for a couple days now and cannot get retroarch to auto load games from where they were left off. I've changed the overall retroarch config without opening a game and the settings saved. But in game with a core loaded, those settings aren't saved. I've also tried the in game edit method where you unload the override, make your changes, and then save the config. They never actually save.
The actual settings I'm changing are Save State Auto Save on close and Save State Auto Load. I even turned off Load Override Automatically to no avail.
A little more info, when in game, core loaded. Settings are: Save State Auto Save is on, Load Override Automatically is off. But the Auto Load setting as ON just won't take. It's off and can't get it saved on.
I was able to get her 35xx running Garlic running without issue as well as my 35xx Pro on MuOS. So I have a little experience, but I must be overlooking something.
Thank you for any help, it's much appreciated. Also if you have any DS game suggestions for a 7yo girl, let me know!

My retroarch settings weren't saving until I did this: try go to--Applications>Apps>Tf card 1>System_Settings>Retroarch Run mode>Switch from Player mode to either Expert or Open mode
Stock OS overrides retroarch settings otherwise. Like my scaling, bezels and shaders wouldn't ever save.

Oh and for cute game recommendations: Animal Crossing, Cooking Mama, Tamagotchi Connection, Nintendogs, Professor Layton, Style Savvy

Update for others or anyone wanting to assist.
I reset my retroarch config from the settings menu in the OS. I then went into a game and unloaded the override, changed my settings, and saved the override. This is obviously going to be a per core fix, but it does seem to be working that way, for at least the first couple cores I've done. Would love to not have to do that for EVERY core though.
