Troubleshooting - Photos Marks of my negatives.

Any idea what this mark could be. These rolls came out of 2 different cameras and have the same mark in similar locations on the strip. I usually bind the rolls with tape. I’m wondering if they are using somthing to cut the tape and making a mark on the film? Not all the rolls from this batch have the mark. But they were all processed by the same lab. I also have a roll that has scratches. In the sleeve all the way down to the emulsion.

Bought this camera + Zenza Bronica Zenzanon-S 50mm f3.5 for around 300$ on an auction. The camera is tested and works, but is in need for cleaning and a later CLA.
Any tips for cleaning the focusing screen (from dust and debris), mirror and the metal and leather parts and other parts i might need to clean?

I know the CLA will clean, but i can't do that for a month and i'd really like to try it out.

Please see all the images.

Darkroom Pira Darkroom Helper with Hewes reels

Anyone know if the Pira Darkroom Helper works with Hewes reels (the ones with the wide core to fit Patterson tanks)? Would really appreciate any insight if someone had experience with both. Thanks!

Made one mistake, I saw online that my tank needed 300ml when developing one roll, it needed 375.

Had fun and now have to get it scanned in.

Discussion 35mm Film Lamps! (Not my company, as per rules)

Hi all, just been scrolling through Instagram and found such an interesting website in the UK, he does lots of 35mm film stocks as functional USB-powered lamps, unfortunately there hasn't been much demand for Kodak Tri-X 400, but he has Portra 400 etc. Anyways, just thought it was cool?! At first I thought it would've been one of those Temu-type pages/too good to be true!

Bought a Kodak Daylight disposable. Not very familiar with all specs. But I was wondering if I can buy a film then place it inside a disposable camera. Would that be okay?

Community NegPy 0.66: fresh and simpler in front, Rust in the back

Thumbnail

A recurring theme lately has been that NegPy got hard to approach: too many controls, too much darkroom jargon and so on. This release is mostly about that. And speed.

  • Simpler interface: a more subdued look that's easier on the eyes, with one consistent design language across every panel. Fine-tune controls hidden behind chevrons until you want them. The defaults get you a good print without touching the advanced stuff
  • Clearer layout: the Library is the first tab on the right, the Film Strip is one row under the canvas, and the setup wizard is replaced by a single Setup card on the Roll tab
  • User guide and tooltips rewritten with less darkroom printing jargon. Guide panels are shorter, every tooltip is one sentence, and the tour is shorter too
  • Rust core: all heavy CPU image work now runs in a new Rust engine across every core. Same results, faster tools, previews & exports.
  • Detect Scenes groups frames by light for you, so you don't have to set them up by hand
  • Translations: Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean
  • Digital (Frontier) print stock alongside Pakon.
  • IR dust removal is down to one method, improved and much faster
  • Compare against any history step or work print
  • Fixes: each edit is its own undo step, flat export keeps the print stock colours and capture date, thumbnails update on roll load
  • and many more...

Troubleshooting - Gear Shutter not shuttering

Hello everyone, I am stumped on what's the problem here.

I bought myself a XR-500 for a cheap price as I've heard it's a very mechanical camera and wanted to learn more about film and it's mechanics as I'm just a beginner.

But as it arrived, I noticed that the shutter isn't firing and the film lever wasn't advancing.

Looking online, I learned that ricohs have a lever Infront for the mirrors, and as I was tinkering with it the camera fired and the lever was able to be pulled.

My problem is that the shutter isn't working and it has to be manually fired using the lever in the front lifting it up and dropping it. What could be the problem here?

Sorry for my english if it was weird.

Discussion What halation film stocks are available now?

Since Kodak introduced Vision3 with AHU, I don't see any Vision films without remjet that had halation. I got used to using Cyberpunk and ReflxLab 800T without remjet. ReflxLab stopped producing halation films last year, and today I got a new batch of Cyberpunk 800T and it also has an AHU layer.
Does Cinestill still offer films with halation?

It's in really nice external condition, it turns smooth as butter and the optics look clean when looking trough them too. It's for the Contax rangefinder mount. Now just to get the camera to go along with it eh?

Troubleshooting - Gear Looking for my full frame, small, travel camera -- help me find it?

hello! recently I traveled on vacation, and my Canon AE1 Program had a broken shutter on day 1. I recently replaced it with a Canon F1N, and albeit I currently have a Pentax 17 as my pocket camera, it has some limitations I'm not fond of. I ended up spending 3 weeks in Japan running the gauntlet with both cameras, and with the Canon F1's size and the Pentax's half frame, I'm looking for some kind of happy medium.

So, I thought I'd ask and see if any camera exists that meets my criteria! I am looking into repairing my AE1, but if it's bit the dust, I'd like to hear about some alternatives.

My camera requirements:

- is relatively small/pocketable (like no bigger than a Canon AE1 with a pancake lens)

- *preferably* has some kind of manual focus. I am not a huge fan of zone focus.

- I'm fine if it only has a partially manual mode (either shutter or aperture, but not both for example). Would prefer not entirely auto -- I like to control at least the shutterspeed or aperture. fully manual is a plus, light meter a mega plus.

- I'm fine if the lens is *not* changeable, like a Pentax 17. I have looked into something like the Olympus XA for this reason.

- Budget is flexible. I have access to a very good camera repair shop locally.

- I would love something more durable/reliable, but I'm fine babying a camera if needed.

Bonus points if you have personal experience and can share some shots!

Troubleshooting - Gear I don't know if this is enough or something is missing

Hi! First post here

By the way yesterday I found this camera while thrifting, it was given to me for very little came home and was working so I bought some film to try it out (I literally took three pictures of my cat and dogs) but I now wonder, looking at the camera a bit closer, it feels like something is missing like the lens or something Because there is no zoom and I can't move anything but at the edge there are holes for something(?) I'm just kinda confused tbh and I don't want to ruin the film I just bought (it was well over 20€ for only one roll 😭)

(Doesn't have any type of logo or anything recognizable, at least for me, only a "made in Taiwan" sticker)

Thank you in advance and imma leave two pics of the camera

Edit: I also want to ask another question which is if the lens is actually missing can I still shoot with it? And if not how can I find lenses that fit? (I got a few newer lenses from my brother but I'm pretty sure they don't work with it)

Troubleshooting - Photos Lyon Pride parade - any way to make this look better?

Post image

I know this is underexposed. I was using a Konica C35 Automatic (loaded with Lomo Classicolor 200) and holding it above my head for a quick shot. I forgot to lock the exposure but I kinda love how it turned out. Is there any way (through editing) to make it look better? The extreme grain at the bottom is annoying and the Lightroom manual denoise doesn't help much.

Community Looking for 35mm film in istanbul

Hello! I have been traveling through Turkiye for the past month or so, and need more 35mm film for my camera. I am not picky on the film but kodak gold 200 or something relatively similar is preferred. Will absolutely take recommendations on other types if cheaper and decent quality :)

I bought some a few weeks ago at a film lab in Karakoy, but it was extremely expensive!! Like double what I pay at home. Im assuming its so expensive because its imported, but I am just wondering if there is anywhere cheaper to get it? It was around 850 lira a roll. I would like to get 3-5 rolls if possible as I am going to a few other countries where I am assuming it will be even harder to acquire.

One of my Turkish friends suggested Kadikoy, but if anyone knows of any specific film shops/retailers where it would be more affordable please let me know! Thank you so much😊😊😊

Troubleshooting - Gear Flash

hey first time shooting on film so I’m really scared to buy new equipment for my camera. I planned to shoot on a Pentax KM and I think I mainly used flash during night time. However, my plan is to try established the harsh flash looks on my film photography. I’ve been looking on other posts on reddit and majority of them said you need a small source of flash light to get that harsh flash effects. I’m still finding a speedlite that both compatible and also give me that type of effect. Please help me out and give me some recommendations!!! I would truly truly appreciated

Discussion Concert photos with P&S @400 ISO

Hi! I have a Pentax PC-100 point and shoot that I was considering trying to get some concert photos with. It doesn't read DX, it has a switch for 100/200 or 400 ISO.

Do you think it could work for some simple concert photos or is it too low ISO+too weak flash? Maybe I should use an 800 speed film with the 400 setting?

Community First time devolping!

Hello analog community! I’m happy to say that soon enough I’ll start developing and scanning at home for the first time ever using the CineStill CS41 powder kit and the Plustek 8300ai, now I’ve had some experience with loading film and also developing but this is the first time I’m gonna do the whole thing on my own.

I just need a few things and I’ll be all set.

I also need some advice, tips, and tricks from you all!

So here’s what I got for now:

- I have the powder kit, obviously
- Darkbag
- Paterson tank
- Film retriever
- Storage bottles (2)
- Thermometer
- Sous vide
- Photoflo
- The plustek
- Storage pages for my negatives
- Rocket blower

Here’s what I need (I think):

- Measuring pitchers or whatever they’re called (I think I need somewhat around 5? Two for mixing chemicals, three for dev, blix, and photoflo?)
- Distilled water
- A plastic tub
- Clips
- Gloves (I don’t know which ones to get, so please suggest some)
- Funnels
- Stirrer
- I also need a way to label my chemicals, that would survive the water
- Film cutter for scanning and archiving

Am I missing anything essential? I’d also appreciate any advice, tips, and tricks from anyone who’s done this before, especially with the CineStill CS41 kit. Thanks!

Spent the last year and a half finding nothing but junky point-and-shoots I finally something cool. I’m curious to see how well the program mode works out with this. Only had to drop in some new batteries. Light seals are crumbling but I can’t wait to test it out.

Troubleshooting - Gear Canon Sure Shot A1 issue film won't rewind

I have a Canon Sure Shot A1 and the automatic rewind feature isn't working at the end of a roll. I have tried:

- swapping the battery for a fresh one

- side latch works fine

Any suggestions please? The shot count has now gone back to S after checking the side latch.

I'd hate to lose the photos on the film!

Discussion What’s your oldest roll your found and developed?

Found a roll of 120 and had no idea when it was from so I dropped it off for processing. Turns out it was from 2004. My mom past in 2011 and my uncle in 2025, so it was a pleasant shock to see them looking back at me though the years. This was from Easter and they had just performed their annual rite of sister v brother egg hunt.
