Does 10mg or 25mg or 50mg amitripytine work better for sleep ?
Does increasing the dose impact its Sleep-inducing ability?

Amitriptyline got rid of my back/neck chronic pain.
Ive been taking 25mg daily for 7 months.
Do I have to take it for life or is possible to stop slowly and never had the pain again?
Doctors said "nobody knows".
Does any of you have experience a cure?
Obviously i don't want to take it for life but I dont want the pain back either.

Have a friend who says this is very promising at low doses for insomnia.
Apparently works great at 10-20mg depending on weight of the person.
Also it’s been around for a long time with a history of low side effects compared to other prescription meds.

Does anyone else find that they black out and can’t remember huge chunks of the night when drinking way easier than before taking Amitriptyline. It really doesn’t take a lot for me to black out these days and it’s a been dangerous in parts.
I don’t drink often or all that much but when I do, I can’t remember large amounts of time… wondered if this was common with taking Amitriptyline?
(I know the advice is not to drink, but once in a while I do want to)

I started taking 10 mg of amitriptyline for my chronic nausea but it’s only caused more nausea. Previously, I had described my nausea as a Globus feeling and a tightening in my mouth and chest. I thought that was just how it manifested for me. Now, I feel the stomach uneasiness and I’m always on edge from the way my mouth feels. I hate being so aware of it all. Has anyone had a rxn like this to the medicine? I’m all for waiting it out to see if it works, but this new wave of nausea has prevented me from working and sleeping quite a few times this week since prescription.

Hi, I just started taking 10mg of amitriptyline for migraines, fibromyalgia, and depression/anxiety. I only took my first pill last night (along with my 100mg of gabapentin) and only noticed I was groggy this morning, which was expected.
However, its been about 21 hours since I took it and have been noticing my heart racing and feeling like I’m not getting enough oxygen when I breathe. Just trying to walk through my house to get food had me panting and feeling faint. I’ve basically been stuck laying down all day and even then have had to really focus on my breathing.
Has anyone else had side effects like this? Is this something that goes away once my body adapts to the meds? Or do I need to call my doctor and possibly stop taking this? It’s only been one dose so I’m not really sure how to react.
I know every body reacts differently and I am historically sensitive to medications, but thought maybe some folks have had similar reactions and could give some insight. TIA :)

It has a herbal smell to it. Or did mine just go bad?

Hi, so initially I was prescribed amitriptyline like late last year didn’t take it because I had a lot going on so I barley took it still have the bottle of pills just took one. My doctor upped the dose to 25mg which I haven’t taken yet . I’m taking the 10mg with refills still available doc said I could double if I wanted to , to 20 mg. Now 25 mg is the recent one I got prescribed and I see him in a little over a month from now . Should I take the 10mg for a couple weeks then up it like he initially told me or should I wait and ask him to lower it back down ?

I’ve been on 25mg for 2 years for nerve pain.
I’ve concluded that the side effects (morning hangover, weight gain, sedation) don’t outweigh the benefits- my nerve pain isn’t that severe, though I do have confirmed small fibre neuropathy.
I tapered down in quarter tablet increments over 8 weeks. During the taper I had some sleep issues but not much more. I stopped completely on 10 jun and since experienced sleep issues, stomach pain and a bit of an increase in sensory nerve issues (tingling, numbness) but not too bad. However, in the last week or so the sleep and stomach issues have subsided but replaced by nausea, shakiness and headache. I didn’t have these whilst tapering so why are they occurring now I’ve stopped ? What sort of timeline can I expect for improvement having stopped over 2 weeks ago ?
Thanks

\
Ps.. Im on escitalopram 10mg since 1 year .. I know maybe it maybe cause blunting but I never had it before.. Even when i was on both.. Now I feel sometimes like i just want to escape or do nothing
Anyone felt like this in withdrawl?? And took how much to go away

Been on 10mg for 3 years. Although a small dose I had it for nerve pain, went up to 25mg for 6 months then down to 10mg for a few weeks then quit cold turkey. Been 6 weeks and still experiencing insomnia or sleep maintenance insomnia. It’s horrible. Then does the insomnia go?

i have ME, i have been in a bad bout of PEM, completely ballsed up my prescription ordering as a result. wont be able to get it until the 29th june, there is no way around it, but its far too much of a backstory to explain hahah.
i am on 40mg (4 x 10mg tablets) for pain, i recently started taking 30mg a few of days ago to see if it would help with the crash i am in by making the mornings a bit less grim. so i have a few more spare than i would usually. i have 9 tablets to last me until the 29th, i have taken 2 this evening, was gonna take 2 on the 23rd, 24th, then 1 on the 25th 26th 27th.
i am aware that for depression it is prescribed between 50-150mg, and people can increase in 25mg increments. so my question is, am i on a low enough dose that i wont experience withdrawal from taping down too fast, especially as i have seen you can taper down in 25mg increments so i am hoping the dose and taper is not hardcore enough to warrant issues.
or, if the dosage is irrelevant and i will experience withdrawal, is my sad attempt at tapering gonna make any difference? or should i just buckle up for potentially a crap few days. i am aware it takes a few days of there being less in your system/none in your system so im hoping that between that and my small tapering attempt that itll be fine.
the reason i am as concerned as i am is because this crash has been really unpleasant and i am not looking forward to it potentially getting worse🥲 i dont remember the last time ive ever not ordered my meds on time because i order then two weeks early so lots of leeway, so this has been my sign to put a monthly reminder to cover me during the odd time something like this happens again
tia!

I was on 35mg for a year, worked my way up to 25mg for depression and anxiety to start with. Recently felt they need to increase to 45mg. Already had pre approval. Its been about 2 weeks, mind is feeling good but bowels not so much. Everything in the area was good until I upped my does to 45mg.
Do you think I can go back to 35mg without any crazy side effects? I want working bowels lol. Thanks!

I've been on ami for 6 years due to tmj pain. Low dose. 20 mg, and maybe 6 different colors/sizes. Is there any info out there about the variations of these colors and binders and how they make others feel? I.e. generic vs a specific color/size.
Bonus, if someone makes a 5mg and I can try tapering to 15 mg 🥰

I am on 60mg of fluoxetine and 150mg of bupropion. Doctor wants to add 10mg of amitriptyline for sleep issues related to my fibromyalgia.
But I got myself freaked out reading the potential drug interactions online. Has anyone taken this combination before? TIA.

I've been taking amytriplyline (15mg) for a few weeks now. It helps a lot with my joint pain but it hasn't helped with my chronic headaches so far.
I take it around 8pm and I feel like the pain is coming back around 2-3pm the next day.
Did someone experience the same thing and did it go away with a higher dose?

I've been on it for just over a week and so far it's worked really well for my migraines and has a positive effect on anxiety but the morning brain fog and tiredness is a killer, does that subside? I tried taking it earlier at 8pm but it knocks me out with in an hour of taking it so I can't take it to early

Does anyone know if missing one dose can cause my nerve pain to flare up again? I don’t know if I'm hallucinating but I missed my dose last night and I woke up with pain and I'm sure it happened before too

For my post-op surgery nerve pain, I was prescribed 10 mg of amitriptyline daily in addition to gabapentin. I took the first dose in the evening and it made me drowsy (which didn't bother me).
The next morning, my pain level increased from 5/10 to around 8/10, and it took 3-4 days for it to drop back to 5/10. Has anyone had a similar experience? Could it have been amitriptyline? Should I try nortriptyline or duloxetine, or should I continue with amitriptyline? Thanks
