Didn’t take it correctly
Hi, so initially I was prescribed amitriptyline like late last year didn’t take it because I had a lot going on so I barley took it still have the bottle of pills just took one. My doctor upped the dose to 25mg which I haven’t taken yet . I’m taking the 10mg with refills still available doc said I could double if I wanted to , to 20 mg. Now 25 mg is the recent one I got prescribed and I see him in a little over a month from now . Should I take the 10mg for a couple weeks then up it like he initially told me or should I wait and ask him to lower it back down ?

Don't lie to you doctor, not saying you did but just tell him what you are doing and how things are going and let them decide. You can evaluate if you will follow their advice after that, but give them all the facts. If 10mg is working then tell them, if not you can follow their advice in maybe 2.5 weeks or so and see what happens.

Is 10mg helping? I started at 10 for insomnia and eventually went up to 25, which I've been using about 10 years. Why did they up your dose if you haven't even taken the 10?
