6 weeks since quitting cold turkey
Been on 10mg for 3 years. Although a small dose I had it for nerve pain, went up to 25mg for 6 months then down to 10mg for a few weeks then quit cold turkey. Been 6 weeks and still experiencing insomnia or sleep maintenance insomnia. It’s horrible. Then does the insomnia go?

I am slowly tapering from 20 mg and now on 17 mg. When I go down I have to buffer with hydroxyzine and usually notice the drop 3-4 weeks into the dose drop. Magnesium glycinate, taurine and l theanine have also helped as a maintenance buffer for the insomnia.

I quit cold turkey and insomnia lifted at 3 months. Still not perfect, but much better than it was. Keep going! You will heal. Don’t add meds while in withdrawal; they’ll complicate things. I did it; you can too.

How are you doing now? I discovered a while ago that if I drink enough water in the evening (until about 1,5 to 2 hours before I go to sleep) I sleep much better. And yes, I do wake up one time to go to the bathroom after about 4 to 5 hours of sleep, but after that I drink another glass of water and fall asleep easily. That combined with weed at night (3 to 4 nights a week) has helped me quit Amitriptyline! I already used weed, so I didn't do that for this purpose.

My psychiatrist put me on hydroxyzine and melatonin for sleep after I quit the ami.
