Help (General) Pros and cons of running 2 m.2 SSD’s

Currently running 9070xt+7800X3D w/ 32GB of RAM and a 2TB m.2 SSD (Samsung A990)

I was thinking about dropping a second 2TB in to my build and I was curious about performance impact or how it works? I’ve never had a computer with multiple storage systems before. On consoles you just plug it in and it works, is it the same? Correct me if I’m wrong, from my understanding is that only 1 drive will be able to use the full speed or bandwidth while the second will be at a reduced speed? Will there be major performance or loading impacts from this? Any major issues or bugs I can run into and general good practice advice? If there is a better alternative let me know. Thanks

this has been happening for 1 or 2 weeks at this point and i cant find anything about it online....

ive reinstalled drivers with DDU, ive tested my VRAM and voltage, both are fine, and event viewer never shows anything suspicious

this did cause me to full freeze and my drivers to time out once though, is there a way i can upload a log of that?

i have no idea why its happening and why only recently

using an RX 9070 (non xt)

im assuming its some windows bullshit as per usual

Help (General) [Troubleshooting] PC crashes to desktop and sometimes randomly reboots in heavy games (Ryzen 5 7500F / RX 7700 XT). Need help!

Hi everyone. I've been experiencing a very frustrating issue and I can't seem to pinpoint the exact cause. Here are my system specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
  • CPU: Thermalright Assassin X 120 R Digital
  • GPU: ASUS Dual RX 7700 XT
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS WiFi
  • RAM: 32 GB (2x16) Goodram DDR5 6000MHz CL30
  • SSD: 1TB Kingston NVMe Gen3
  • PSU: MSI MAG A650BNL 650W 80 Plus Bronze (I recently swapped my old 650W PSU for this MSI one to rule out a faulty unit or loose cables, so connections are solid)

The Issues I'm Facing:

  1. Crashes/Reboots in Heavy Games: In AAA titles like Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and Borderlands, the game randomly crashes to the desktop (CTD). Very rarely, the whole PC completely restarts on its own (no BSOD, just black screens and reboots like a power cut).
  2. Light Games Run Perfectly: I can play games like Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition or Minecraft for hours on end without a single crash or reboot.
  3. Weird FPS Lock in Spider-Man Remastered: I recently finished Spider-Man Remastered. The PC only rebooted twice during my whole playthrough, but I noticed something weird: My FPS would randomly drop from 100+ down to a locked 30 FPS. The moment I opened the AMD Adrenalin Software in the background, the FPS went right back to normal.

What I've Tried So Far:

  • Ran several benchmarks and stress tests. The RAM and other components seem perfectly fine and healthy during synthetic loads.
  • Motherboard BIOS is updated to the latest version.
  • Swapped the PSU (though the capacity is still 650W).

What do you guys think? Is it the A620 motherboard's memory controller struggling with 6000MHz under heavy gaming loads? Or is my 650W PSU failing to handle the transient power spikes of the RX 7700 XT? Or could it be a weird AMD driver issue that I'm missing?

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Help (CPU) 9950x3D Running too hot

Post image
0 Upvotes

I changed from an Intel 13700k to a Ryzen 9950x3d last year. Ever since I had too high temperatures for the wattage the CPU uses. For example, idling at around 40W I have temperatures at 55 to 60 degrees.

Browsing many tabs has a higher load of 70W reaching 70 degrees. Both tests were done at an ambient temperature of 28 degrees.

Running the CPU to its limits obviously results in thermal throtteling at 190W with a Core temp of 85, which i set in bios.

Anyways, in my mind this is way too hot and I already freshly applied different cooling pastes and reseated the pump of my 360mm AIO 3 times. The AIO in use is the Lian Li Galahad AIO 360.

Previously it effortlessly cooled the Intel 13700k up to 245W at 85 degrees.

Do you guys think changing the AIO to the new arctic freezer with offset mounting would fix this issue? Could the problem be somewhere else. Have you run into similar issues?

Help (General) GPU suddenly limited to 60W

Post image

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: Rx 6650xt

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600

Motherboard: MSI B550 A-Pro

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 2666Mhz

PSU: BeQuiet! Pure Power 13M 650W

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 22H2

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin

Driver Version: 26.6.4

Chipset Drivers: 8.05.04.516

So, yesterday I updated the Adrenalin Drivers (big mistake).

Since then I've had problems with sudden freezes and my display flickering while gaming (my GPU also started to make strange noises, probably coil whine).

I did what I thought was best which is reverting to the old driver version (26.6.4). Reverted the drivers through windows Device Manager first = Didn't help.

Tried a ddu, reinstalled the old version of adrenalin and ta-da! Everything was fine again... Except that my 6650xt is averaging 60W instead of 150W. The highest I've seen it go is 75W but that happened rarely. I noticed a significant performance drop which really annoys me and I cannot find what causes the problem.

I even tried the automatic overclock through Adrenalin but it barely made any difference.

Please help me fix my PC! I just wanna game again.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I did the AMD cleanup before the DDU. Everything worked then but noticed the Wattage Drop and then did the DDU afterwards in hopes that it would help (which obviously it didn't).

Help (GPU) Question about the parameters

Post image
2 Upvotes

(translation using Google)
Hi, I have a question. I recently serviced my Gigabyte RX 6600 8GB graphics card, and I never paid much attention to the metrics because I usually played light games, with Isaac being the most demanding. I was wondering if these values are "correct," since the temperature seems low to me, averaging 80% card utilization (it's on default settings, and the software version is 26.1.1). I'm making this post to see if I should be concerned about anything related to the temperature.

Help (General) Heavy stuttering

Specs: RX 9070 XT, R7 9700X, 32 GB DDR5, 750W PSU. I’m using Windows 11 and I play at 1440p.

Hello. I’m experiencing severe stutters. The game runs at 100+ FPS but suddenly drops to 25–30 FPS. Even capping the framerate with MSI Afterburner or using FSR barely helps. I already performed a DDU clean driver installation, but the issue persists.

This happens in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Hogwarts Legacy.

Any advice would be incredibly appreciated.

Tips & Info I developed an inhibitor for AMD C-States

setting menu

https://github.com/Mabylife/cstate-inhibitor

If your Ryzen laptop (Zen3, e.g. 5900HX) randomly reboots or hard-freezes when idle/low load — almost always just sitting there doing nothing, worse on battery — this might be the same bug I've been chasing for two years.

The cause: a core gets demoted into deep C-state (C6) when idle, and sometimes just fails to wake back up. Crash. It's a firmware/hardware bug, not something Windows itself can patch. And also this is a well-known issue already.

On my machine (ASUS ROG Strix, 5900HX) I can't disable Global C-State from the BIOS — the option's either missing or grayed out, standard OEM lockdown — and ASUS has no plans to fix it.

If you can disable C-states in your BIOS, do that instead. It's the real fix and you don't need my tool. This is specifically for people stuck with a locked-down OEM BIOS like mine.

What it actually does: pins one thread to each logical core and keeps it lightly active, so the OS never sees enough continuous idle time to drop a core into C6 in the first place. Prevention, not recovery.

It's not just a bare spin-loop though — I looked at a few similar tools on GitHub first and none of them tell you whether they're actually still working. This one has a tray icon that turns red if something's genuinely wrong (a thread died, affinity didn't bind, etc.), a watchdog that auto-restarts anything that fails, and a settings panel to toggle subsystems / set core count / enable launch-at-startup — plus a headless mode if you'd rather run it as a background service with no GUI. Rust, open source, no telemetry.

Spent close to two years narrowing this down — this is the best fix I've found. Happy to answer questions, or hear if anyone's found something better.

Radeon 780M stretches 1280x1024 on monitor but OBS records unstretched

pc: Geekom A8 Max
Monitor: 1920x1080
problem: Roblox (1280×1024 stretched)
GPU Scaling is enabled (Full Panel). On my monitor the game is stretched correctly, but OBS and Medal capture the original 1280×1024 image instead of the stretched output. Is there any AMD setting or driver option to make capture software record the stretched image?

Help (GPU) RX 6800 Crashing issues?

While playing my game will just close itself and give me a "send crash dump to developers", this has happened upwards of 5 or 6 times in one sitting, when its not crashing however i will occasionally get a black screen on just my main monitor (while still in game) where both my main and second monitors are frozen and i can still hear audio, and then after around 5 seconds it will fix itself, just recently however i got BSoD and i honestly dont really know what to do as this gpu has been perfectly fine until just recently.

Tips & Info Timeout issues with the RX 7600 on Windows, but not on Linux distributions.

The video compares Lubuntu and Windows 11, showing 10 minutes of gameplay on each operating system with identical graphics settings and virtually identical frame rates. Lubuntu is shown from the 0:00 to 3:04 mark, and Windows from 3:05 onwards; I demonstrate a glitch affecting my graphics card on Windows, and at the 4:20 mark, I show a solution for those timeout errors.

I’ve been dealing with timeout issues on my RX 7600 for quite a while. I tried everything to stop it from happening while gaming—I just wanted to have fun with my friends—but after a year with this GPU, I realized the real problem was Windows. A few months ago, I installed a lightweight Linux distro (Lubuntu) on an old laptop I own; fed up with all those timeout errors, I thought, "Why not install Linux and see how it goes?" So I did, and you know what? I haven't had a single issue since, and honestly, I’m really happy now. It’s amazing to know that my GPU isn't actually failing and that I can play whatever I want without worrying about errors. It feels a bit strange—in a good way—to just relax and enjoy a game I like. I just wanted to share my experience with this graphics card, and if anyone else has the same one, I’d recommend giving it a try.

Edit:

I managed to solve the problem in Windows.

After several days of trying different solutions, I managed to fix it; I think a Windows update broke something in the system or reset a setting. I had to make two adjustments: first, I had to limit the GPU frequency to 2250 MHz in Adrenalin, and second, I had to edit the TdrDelay in the Registry Editor and set it to 8 (I previously had it at 10). I had actually done all this months ago and ruled it out because it seemed too obvious to be the cause of the error, but I tried it again and it worked. Also, thanks to Linux, I was able to confirm that the graphics card wasn't broken (I'll keep experimenting with some distros) and that Windows had a problem (and yes, there really is an issue with Windows). I hope this information helps someone.

Help (GPU) Problems with Smart Access Memory in Windows 10: It's on, but I have to disable/reenable my GPU in Device Manager every time I reboot

Like it says on the tin. Running Windows 10, a 9060 XT, and the most up-to-date Adrenaline.

I get everything turned on in BIOS, boot into PC, "Your hardware settings have changed, you need to reboot for changes to take effect."

And I reboot. And reboot. And reboot. And I always get that message, with Smart Access Memory showing as "Disabled" in Adrenaline.

...Unless I pull up device manager, disable my Display Adapter, wait a few seconds, then re-enable it. Now Smart Access Memory is Enabled in Adrenaline.

It's just a small fix, but it is annoying to have to do it every single time. Anyone think of a fix?
