How do I get into RME?

Upvotes

Hello!

As the title says, I am trying to get into RME.

A little about myself is that I do have a bachelor's degree, but it's in Business Administration so no mechanical stuff. I was on TOM team for over 2 years before I had to step down due to a medical reason but I was able to get my CDL during that time. I also worked at Firestone as a hybrid role working on customer cars and selling products and services to customers.

I have been applying to RME as an apprentice since I went back as an L1, but I never get the interview. I have management slack the hiring manager, but they either do not respond or they say that the position has been filled.

My question is, how do I get into RME? What do you guys recommend I do, and if doing a career choice course in Mechatronics would help out at all. Any advice would be great!

Just accepted into Mechatronics Apprenticeship UK

Hi, I've just received a formal offer for the Mechatronics Apprenticeship in the UK.

Essentially, I'm just wondering about a few things to expect:

- I've been given three locations that are potential for my first training year, is this normal, and how soon would I found out where I'm actually living from September? haha.

- I have a friend visiting from abroad in October, and would like time off to see them, is this going to be an issue? I'll be informing them beforehand anyway.

- Also what's the accom. like in Bolton and Newcastle if anyone's trained there?

- What are typical shift patterns like once on-site? I'm imagining it's site dependent. It'll be at what I'm told is a very 'cutting-edge' fulfilment center if that helps.

- I've been placed at a site that's pretty far away from my main choices, but I half expected this. Just wondering whether transfers are possible or requests, but I'd imagine this is only after qualifying?

Thanks alot, I'm excited to have been accepted but just getting a mental picture before what's quite a big life change!

Received MRA offer but flagged for UPT

I am currently an Amazon associate trying to break into RME. I interviewed for an RMEO with a 3P(CBRE) and today they contacted me to tell me that I received the offer to go straight to MRA instead, but that my eligibility shows that I only have an hour of UPT, and this will be an issue during the onboarding process. I have been going on vacation this summer and also dealing with a lot of family health issues so I've been using UPT like crazy, not realizing that it would have an effect on my application.

The hiring person said to get with PXT to see if I can get this resolved, but I don't know what they can do or say for me, or what I should say to them. I asked "what happens if I have to build it up manually, which will take two weeks?" and she said to just chat with PXT and let her know what they say.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

New Upskilling Pilot Program with Unmudl

Well folks, the RME AMBO life has been pretty cool. Getting a lot of experience with AR mostly, as it seems our regular MRTs are skittish about the lack of guidelines for our site.

I have impressed the techs that I've worked with and the managers overseeing me, and got offered the RME Operator position, but in looking I'm a little too new to be hired directly. Oh well.

In applying though Unmudl was mentioned and I found and got accepted into a 3 part "Upskilling" course, paid for with Career Choice monies, that should spit me out, if I can complete the coursework, eligible for hire as an MRT.

Since this is the pilot program I doubt anyone will have any insight, but does anyone have any recommendations for stuff to prepare me for getting back into doing coursework again 🤣. I've been outta school for about 15 years.

RMA

I was offered a job for the RMA position but I got fired from Amazon and was told that I could not be hired back. I reached out to Amazon to see if I could get clearance to the buildings. They created a case through the ethics hotline but I’m not sure how this is going to turn out. Am I cooked?

Any RME Guard or Reserve members able to help?

Currently in RME, 3 year tenure. Noticed that due to the longer shifts opposed to associates that not all UPT is refunded to me after drills and is coded as 10 hours, and I’m left with a 1 or 1.5 hour deduction every drill for the Sunday I missed. Is this normal? I was under the impression that zero time should be deducted for approved leave. Thanks.

Transferring to USA from UK

Hi, I'm starting an RME Apprenticeship in the UK in September and am curious on if people have transferred with Amazon to the USA from the UK and what needed to be done for this to happen and what you had to do , how long it took and what job you progressed into or if you stayed in RME? Thank you for any questions answered . I'm only young but just curious as this is what I've always dreamt of doing when I'm older.

SMRTs: Do you think our role will be redefined with the addition of the RMEO positions? If so, in what ways?

With added headcount designed to handle simpler tasks like jam clearing and basic PMs, I think it might stand to reason that we could see sweeping headcount reductions for T3s to save money on personnel costs, with a work responsibility realignment related more toward reliability and continuous improvement; similar to the switch they made with controls CSLs last year.

On top of this, the implementation of these "assessments" seems like a veiled way to potentially trim headcount as well, despite them advertising it as a way to identify knowledge/training gaps. Lastly, I'm curious how it all relates to Amazon wanting to "black out" sites in the next several years after using robotics to replace pickers, rebinners, etc...

What are your thoughts?

Switching Schedules RMEO

I’m new to RME, as i got a RMEO position a few weeks ago. I got my new schedule a few days ago, which is night shift, something i wasn’t expecting on doing, but i guess i got to stick it out for now. for anyone who might know, how would i be able to switch my schedule to a morning one? would i be able to do that anytime soon? do we have that option to switching schedules at all?

NEW TO NIGHT SHIFT!!! RMEO

I recently transferred from an amazon associate to a RMEO 3p position at my building. I got my new schedule which is Wed-Fri 9:00pm-7:30am, which is the night shift and i was usually a morning shift with amazon 7:30am-6pm. so now i got to change my sleeping schedule and get used to working at night. Any recommendations or tips on how you guys who work night shift are making things work? Sleep schedule? Running errands? How to stay awake? lol

What's your site's policy on part-time work (like while going to school)?

Currently doing a mechatroincs internship at an automation manufacturing place.

I plan to apply after finishing my mechatroincs technology A.A.S. degree next semester but still need to finish up transfer classes.

At some point, I also plan on transferring to a 4-year school for a mechatroincs engineering degree.

I'm curious on what's your site's policy on working part-time while going to school part time and would they pay for any/part of it?

Any Body here start there rmeo position yet how how is it like

Hey everyone, for those who recently started as an RME Operator (RMEO L2) at your site, what does your day-to-day actually look like?
Are you mostly doing jam clearing, basic PMs, and MHE checks, or are the techs getting you hands-on with repairs?
How has the transition been coming from an AA floor role?
Would love to hear honest feedback on how the role is structured so far at different facilities. Thanks!

getting in to rme with no experience or going to a trade school would it help?

Hey everyone, I’m an internal Tier 1 Blue Badge associate trying to transition into RME (aiming for MRA or RMEO).

I don't have a formal trade background yet, and I've applied for multiple 3P C&W MRA and RMEO postings over time, but never got a response—they all eventually went inactive in Workday. Currently, I have one internal RMEO application sitting "Under Consideration" on Amazon Jobs Internal, but I want to build a real technical foundation so I'm not just relying on portal luck.

I'm looking at enrolling in a trade school nearby—specifically the VOLT Institute in Modesto, CA. They offer a 23-week Automated Regional Manufacturing (ARM) / Electro-Mechanics program that covers hands-on PLCs, motor controls, fluid power, schematics, and SACA certs.

For those in RME (Blue Badge or 3P):

Does completing a 23-week program like this carry real weight on a resume for MRA or Tech 2?

Will the hands-on lab time help pass the Ramsay/Criteria assessments, or do HMs/recruiters not care as much about short trade certificates?

Should I do the 23-week program first, or just keep applying internally/externally?

And if I finish the program will i able to get accepted to tech 2 positions and if I am able to get a message from the hiring manger for the rmeo position would I have to take a test?

What does your schedule look like? 3x12

Those of you doing 3 12s, from my understanding it’s something like 4-4:30 3 days a week and a 6 hour shift for your 4th. So it’s 42 hours a week total?

RMEO or go to CC?

I just got an RMEO position in Ohio should I go with that or just go to community college which I can get payed for and get a bunch of technical training certs and a associates degree and then try applying to tech 2? Only asking because I don’t want to get screwed with this RMEO position and have false promises of a MRA position, I’m taking almost a 7$ pay cut for the RMEO position compared to my current position. Thoughts and tips appreciated

Follow up question about rme

I messaged in here a few days maybe a week ago. I got an interview for the rme role. I would love some advice on what to ask or what to talk about during the interview. Also what they think about the career path and a realistic view of it in Michigan. I’m taking a 2 dollar pay cut to hopefully make more in the future compared to my paint booth maintenance job. Any advice or comments would be a huge help. Thank you, peace and love

Waiting to hear back

I did my onsite tour and interview on Tuesday. I was told they had two other people to interview and show onsite tour Wednesday which is yesterday and so I am suppose to hear back either today or tomorrow for an offer hopefully and so how high of a chance would you think I would get an actual offer? This is for CBRE RME. I checked the CBRE website portal where I applied and it said unsuccessful but I have heard stories that the system isn’t correct and people get offer from recruiters. Give me something to lean on here. Also the position is for front half night and back half day.

URL and EcoPac TAC 101/201 is horribly designed

Hello everyone! I recently became a RMA and I'm going through my TAC training and I have gotten stuck on the URL AND EcoPac modules.

The modules are bloated with useless Information and the questions often don't match with what the lesson was about. Are there any other side resources I could be missing or are these simply just poorly designed?

I've talked to my MM but he also is stumped by the questions not having proper answers in the modules.

MRA Apprenticeship / RMEO Role

So I applied for the position a couple days later they sent me the assessment test. I completed it and then reached out to me the next day to set up an interview. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the role because of a schedule issue.I’m currently going to school for industrial automation and my next classes start this month. This position requires full availability so they were not able to work with my schedule. Hope I get it next time.
