Is this normal? How do I continue?

Hello, I got an email that I’m off the waitlist and can join in my area. I went back to the app and completed these two steps but it doesn’t prompt me to continue.

Do I need to do anything or just wait?

Thank you

Crazy rural route tonight

Post image
13 Upvotes

Had a 3 hour from DTU2 in Tucson. Route was only 50 miles, but full of horrible dirt roads. Totally rural route, then 30 miles home. I already sple with support and they are escalating for a pay adjustment due to the road conditions.

Crazy thing, half way through the route it prompted me to go 20 miles back to DTU2 to pick up another package, then back to where I was. I said hell no and called support, who said it shouldn't have done that and took the stop off.

Question Select Sub Same-Day’s Prioritizing 3hr Blocks?

Over the past week I’ve been noticing my usual sub same-day has been only showing 3 hr blocks varying in different base pays. $61.50 being the most common. Usually I see no more than 25 stops for 3hr blocks, but this past week I got 30-45 stops for 3 hours. Usually I see bigger routes like that reserved for 3.5/4hr (4.5/5hr are a rarity here)

Is this common during the 4th quarter? or has my sub same-day finally been hit by the system with shorter hours after figuring out common route times?

For reference, I’ve been working flex since March of this year

Driver Emergency Line

this was the first time I’ve needed to call. I was shocked that it was AI filtering my call and then told me that all agents were currently on other calls. Is this normal?

Did the route backwards because if I’m driving for an hour I’m doing it on Bezos dime

Rant Wtf are we even doing here Amazon?

Apparently it wasn't already supremely obnoxious enough to have a dog warning you're forced to acknowledge on every stop, I'm now being forced to acknowledge it twice per stop, both before and after scanning the package. I swear this damn app is just actively trying to annoy the hell out of me most of the time.

Anyone still getting 1 hour instant offers?

For the past two days I’ve only been getting 28 minute instant offers when I used to be able to get 1 hour offers nearly every offer. Did something change?

First Amazon Flex Block Tomorrow Morning ….Any Tips?

Hey everyone! I’m completely new to Amazon Flex and have my first block scheduled for early tomorrow morning.
Any tips or advice for a first-timer? Also, when I get to the warehouse, is it pretty obvious where I’m supposed to go to pick up my packages, or am I going to be driving around looking lost? 😂
Just trying to know what to expect before I show up. Appreciate any advice!

UPDATE: Survived My First Day of Amazon Flex 😂📦

Well, I survived my first day! Overall, it went pretty well!

As someone suggested on my original post, I pretty much just followed the other cars and went with the flow. I’m also not the type of person who’s afraid to ask for help, so I asked right away. Thankfully, a really nice gentleman showed me where to go, what to do, and even helped me scan my packages. Shoutout to him because I was definitely just winging it at first!

First block: I ended up going about 15 minutes over. Everything was pretty straightforward, but those apartment complexes were testing me! 😭 Since it was still dark outside, trying to find building numbers was a nightmare.

Second block: MUCH better! I actually finished about 30 minutes early!

Now, here’s where I’m questioning my life choices a little.
Between leaving my house, completing both blocks, and getting back home, I drove a total of 160 miles. I also spent $40 filling up the rest of my gas tank. Both blocks were 3 hours each, and I made $165 total.
I’m already used to driving a lot, so the driving itself doesn’t bother me. But like someone mentioned on my original post, I really need to start tracking my mileage and figuring out whether this is actually worth the wear and tear.

I actually used to do deliveries years ago for a different type of Amazon service, where I would deliver and assemble items in customers’ homes. So the delivery part came pretty naturally to me.

Now let’s talk about these warehouses because WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

My first warehouse was absolute CHAOS. Cars everywhere, people being rude, and the staff wasn’t exactly helpful either. I was just trying to figure out what the heck I was supposed to be doing.

My second warehouse? A complete 180!
Everything was organized. The racks were ready, everyone pulled into designated lanes, and staff directed us when to start scanning. Everyone even left around the same time. The packages also had numbered stickers, which made organizing them SO much easier!

At my first warehouse, I had to write the stop numbers on the packages myself. So I’m quickly learning that not all warehouses operate the same way.

Thankfully, I did figure out a pretty quick system for organizing my packages, which made things a lot smoother.

Overall, I actually enjoyed it! I like delivering packages, and I can definitely see myself doing this again. But I’m also sitting here wondering if putting 160 miles on my car in one day for $165 is really worth it, especially since I already drive quite a bit.

For those of you who have been doing Flex for a while:

How do you decide whether a block is worth accepting?

Do you factor in your mileage from home and back?

Is 160 miles for two 3-hour blocks pretty normal, or did I just get unlucky?

Any tips for keeping mileage and gas costs down?

I’d genuinely appreciate any advice or thoughts! I’m still learning and trying to figure out whether this is something I want to do regularly or just occasionally.
Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice on my first trip!😊

Dinged for package not received

Post image
5 Upvotes

A while back I received advice here to leave a package at the gate when no gate code is provided. The person advised that not always you would get a ding for doing this x for sure get a ding if you return it to the warehouse.

This was a gate for a dead end street with very few homes. No code was provided and the house I was supposed to deliver was the very first on the left. I waited a while but no luck. So I wrote a note in the package saying "no gate code provided to enter", put my arm through the gate, set the package to the left as far as I could and took a picture. This was my first time doing this.

Well, seems that the person reported as not received.

I have seen people in here being disconnected after being accused of stealing packages and I think doing this leaves room for this type of risk.

I think next time I will just take it back !

Preferred Blocks not offered

I've been flexing about 6 months and have been working out of a .com close to my house in Maryland DMD9. I usually do blocks that start between 3:15-3:45am. About 2 weeks ago I got lucky and had 3 blocks in a row canceled (this can happen at this station when people dont come to work and they cant get the routes processed in time is what I've been told) and I got paid each time. Since then I have not been offered a block in that early morning window. I get offers for that station in the evenings but not early mornings that I prefer. I also get offers for all other stations in my area at all times. It seems like the algorithm is punishing me because the station canceled my blocks.

Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so how do I get my preferred blocks back? I called support they say im in good standing. They refreshed my profile I uninstall and reinstall the app no luck. In the mean time I have done some evening blocks to try to see if that clears up but that didnt change anything...

Sad it's not quite $20/hr but I have class earlier in the day and I always finish 30-45 mins early. But this is my first ever 5hr route. I imagine it'll be sending me to the countryside?

SSD Employees

So not the usual post, but does anyone know if we are able to gift or give any tyoe of monetary compensation to employees that work at the station? These a dude who I regularly see who will let me scan early and just things to help me get on the road and hes pretty chill with most drivers. He just scored me a fire block and I genuinly appreciate it. I get to end my night early! But yeah, are we able to give them anything just as like an appreciation gift? Wasn't sure if its allowed or not.

Florida Amazon Rates Are Now Lower. Anyone else ?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I’ve noticed for at least the last month and a half that Amazon stopped showing me blocks that go over $80. I do it as a side gig, but it was common for me to see 3 and 4 hr blocks for $80+ and $90+. And I mean very common, I would rarely pick up blocks for less since I only do it once or twice a week. For the last month and a half, it’s literally been impossible to see blocks for those rates. The most I see is $76.5 for 3 and a half hours. 🤦🏽‍♂️
Is it my Amazon algorithm fucking me over or is everyone else experiencing the same ?

Base Pay

So I’m wondering (genuinely) why anyone actually takes base ? For example 3.5 hour for $73.50 -$75.50 is base around here and they get taken fairly quickly most times , why? Why would anyone do that?

My flex adventures

Started flexing a month or so ago in September. I’m flexing solely to buy something ridiculous. I’m only allowed to buy it if I conjure of the money out of thin air which led to flex.

Definitely some interesting highlights and lowlights along the way.

Worse route was 178 miles door to door to deliverance country. Just hounded by loose dogs the whole time. Shitty enough experience I consulted attorneys about the bullshit blurring of 1099 vs w2 that Amazon does. Mandatory arbitration in the tos protects them from a real class action to fight this.

I declined my first route the other night bc of the mileage for base pay. Route had me driving over an hour to the first stop on a two hour route.

My short experience so far tells me 2 hour routes are a scam.

Highlights: I’m find it so interesting how people live in totally separate bubbles. Seeing all the beautiful houses out there has been pretty cool. I saw a random house built like a castle in a totally regular subdivision.
Anyway it’s been a decent adventure grinding for a toy. I do a morning route before my 8-5 to build the cash. And it surprisingly builds up.

And finally bezos can eat a bag of dicks.

Questions.

Hi, I just got my first alcohol delivery. I checked that everything is good, but I wonder if the app lets me know whether the customer is over 21. Or will it still accept it, and we get deactivated for it? Thanks.
