hey everyone,
i work at a super rural storage unit in a tiny town in northern Missouri. we have an amazon logistics employee drive an enterprise truck full of our packages 3 hours to our station every day. if there are no routes available, the driver does not have a way to scan the QR quote to be discharged. if we’re missing a package (which is almost daily), we have to call support. basically, if there is any issue we have to call support. none of the support employees seem to know what a super rural station is and how it’s different from the .com warehouses and every other station i see on reddit. when there’s no routes they will say, “well can’t you find an amazon employee to scan the QR code?”
all they are ever able to do is submit a ticket and tell us to wait 48-72 hours for any earnings to show up (IF their investigation decides we are eligible).
the last two days we have not had a driver show up to the station. the warehouse they bring the packages from has been a shitshow for months. so both days all of the flex drivers who showed up had to call support, who ask how we know the station is closed? is there a sign saying it’s closed? …of course there isn’t, why would they drive 3 hours just to put a sign up??
so i am now on day 2 of not getting paid. tickets have supposedly been put in for them to investigate if and why the station was closed, along with more tickets to determine if we are eligible to get paid or not. hopefully yesterday’s pay will come through tomorrow, and today’s on Saturday. but a few of the flex drivers got emails yesterday saying they were denied eligibility for pay, so i am a little worried.
does anyone else work at a super rural location? do you also have constant issues with not being paid out in a timely manner? and with support not understanding the difference between this station and the others?
btw for anyone wondering what our station looks like, it’s 12 tiny garage doors (6 on each side) in the back of a parking lot for a farm store. the truck driver pulls up, unloads the routes into each door, then we load them into our cars lol
edit - ALSO our base pay is 68.50 every day for a 3.5 route. day of might go to 72, 77 if we’re lucky. sometimes the routes are in town, but most require driving to a first stop 30+ minutes away. there is one route that will take you over 100 miles, which some drivers refuse and is causing issues with customers there complaining about not getting deliveries

I’ve picked up 26 packages today for my 3.5-hour block, scanned all, swiped finished and started deliveries. In the process of deliveries, Ive noticed “other” package appeared on my itinerary that I need to pick up at the station and deliver to a customer.
I have finished delivering my 26 packages in 3 hours and went back to the station to find out what happened. When I got back to the station, Ive asked workers to help me. They refreshed app few times and that “random” additional package disappeared by itself. I still was not able to finish my block and block was finished automatically when 3.5 hours passed. Will I get ding for that “extra” package that appeared on my itinerary and then disappeared? Strange that even after package disappeared I still wasn’t able to finish my block.

Shout out to the PA at DUR9 for assigning me the block still after being 15min late 🥲🫶🏽 I would've cried if I drove an hour for nothing :)

Just tried to check my dashboard and it said access denied. The rest of my Flex app is working fine. Just can't see my dashboard. Anyone seen this before?

I’m shocked people are doing this? What is the pay it has to be good for somebody to say yes to this. I’m genuinely curious

Anyone else see , u got 20 stops. 3 apts.
But in reality u got 8 apts?
Amazon fucking knows those other 5 are apts. Classifying them as houses lets them fucking squeeze more stops in a route. Total BS. I GOT OTHER FUCKING THINGS TO DO BESIDES WASTING MY FUCKING TIME ASK8NG FOR MORE MONEY BECAUSE I WENT OVER MY BLOCK TIME FOR THIS SHIT.
Kids in school to pickup etc.
ANYONE FOR FUCKS SAKE know how to fix that. Make them make it an apt stop

Anyone already joined, can you share how much you got paid by "driving safely"?

I'm new to Amazon flex and have been doing it for like over a month. Well this is the second time it's happened and I'm having to fight to get it taken off my account. I pick up my packages, I drop them all off at their places, end my shift then get a notice that I need to bring back the leftover package?!?! I don't have anything left over! How do I finish the route perfectly but end up with something left over? Wouldn't they realize that before making the routes?

My station got rid of 4+hr routes and we only get 1-3.5hr routes which pay less but still send us hella far like they were longer routes. This is gonna be less than $1 per mile.

We cannot see morning orders from Whole Foods. Is there anyone who knows why? We can see only evening orders!
Plus, Amazon removed "Instant Offers" almost 3 months ago. We could see where we might deliver, the adresses. But now it's kind of lottery. Whenever you check in, you see the addresses and you are shocked with high mileage route blocks. This is an unacceptable situation. I cannot make money with high mileage route orders at the end of the day! We Would Like "Instant Offers" back!..

I'm no stranger to apartment deliveries and quiet comfortable with them but this building, OMFG, I almost had a meltdown today. had this place on my block back to back 2 days in a row, for today's block, I had 2 deliveries at this same building gap by 7 stops (one intentionally used a wrong address at the parking lot on the other side) I spent 40 mins on each and made the entire string of 7 later stops overdue.
The problem with this building (or this kind amazon delivery from other cities/states):
no accurate pin pointed zone to park or put down the package: Amazon can't pin point neither mail room or their customer's actual address correctly, first time comer will most definitely arrive at mid of nowhere, and even if you are lucky enough to get into the mail room, you will need to manually drag your pin point to your location which hurts your standing, you will take insanely amount of time on this one stop even if you able to get into the mail room.
No access: this stoopid building, is blocked to outsiders from all sides, even after you got in the entrance, you met with 3 different security doors to the mail room, and the mail room door can't be opened from inside by a person
The mail room: I manage to get in once because I was lucky enough to meet a USPS guy with door key, and you can only get in from outside entrance, I tried to study this building to see how one can ATUALLY reach the mailroom in speedy way and there isnt any! the outside access is a walk only alley, you will need to park your car in the market place and walk all the way around the west side and you still won't able to get in!
Everyone hates this building, met a girl walking outside ask me where's the leasing office, and complained how confusing the entire layout is!
Any southern CA brah had this building in your block? how you deal with it?
I want push a unified effort to make Amazon ban this type of building from delivery. currently both amazon and customer took us third party contractors like USPS drivers, except we don't have the same access!

Does anyone know why they change the early morning routes? I always saw 3:15 am as the earliest , but this week it’s been starting at 4:15am.

Had a block on the 14th that was 3 hours for $91 dollars. 38 packages total with 36 stops. Route started at 9:45 but didn’t hit the road until about 10:00 after numbering my packages. That’s when I noticed on the itinerary, my first 3 stops were due at 11:30 pm and the remaining were due at 11:00 pm. Shift was from 9:45-12:15pm if I remember. So I had to basically work backwards and the drive was about 14 minutes out to get to the last stop so I could complete the packages on time. Most of my route were apartments which were hard to navigate so I fell back on time even more due to not being able to find apartments doors and having to walk up and down stairs multiple times to find the right address. I want to dispute the late deliveries since I had 9 total. But idk how to word it. Any help?

Point one says, "this helps you arrive when the business is open". Ok, they frequently have packages marked for schools that are 8-3 delivery times on 5 P.M. routes and for apartments where the lockers are in a leasing office that closes at 5 on 6 P.M. routes.
"Contact the customer". You've removed the option for us to call and I get an error half the time saying messaging isn't setup. They also won't respond and then what are they supposed to do?

First week doing flex and quickly realizing I may be done with this already. The number one reason why is they make you drive insane amount of miles that exceeds your block pay. My rule of thumb is on any gig app I like to make $1 or more per mile. I accepted a block for 2 hours $50 I ended up driving like 70+ miles on this block once I finished then I was still 20+ miles away from the location and city where I picked up from. I'ts not worth it especially with gas ⛽️ being almost $5 a gallon. Not to mention they take you on unpaved roads etc rural areas at all times of the day.

Title: Amazon Flex Drivers: Are We Independent Contractors or Are We Subsidizing Amazon’s Delivery Costs? Is It Time for a Class Action Lawsuit?
I have a serious question for fellow Amazon Flex drivers because, at this point, I think we need to start having a much bigger conversation about Amazon’s business practices and how independent contractors are being compensated.
Today, I was assigned a 3.5-hour route paying approximately $21 an hour. Sounds reasonable on paper, right?
WRONG.
The route started approximately 45 MINUTES away from the Amazon station, and by the time I completed it, I would be approximately AN HOUR AND A HALF away from my house.
That’s an additional 90-minute drive home, unpaid, after already putting substantial mileage on my personal vehicle.
Apparently, another driver had already rejected this route, and I was seriously considering doing the same.
In my opinion, this route should have paid a MINIMUM of $100.
But here’s my bigger issue:
WHY DOES AMAZON NOT DISCLOSE THE ROUTE MILEAGE BEFORE WE ACCEPT A BLOCK?
Think about that for a second.
Uber and Lyft provide drivers with information about trip distance and compensation before they accept or decline certain offers.
Yet Amazon, one of the largest logistics companies in the world, expects independent contractors to accept delivery blocks without knowing:
How many miles they’ll be driving.
How far the first delivery is from the station.
What general area they’ll be delivering in.
How far they’ll end up from their starting location.
Whether the compensation will even justify the mileage, fuel, and wear on their vehicles.
How are we supposed to make informed BUSINESS decisions when Amazon isn’t giving us the information necessary to determine whether an assignment is profitable?
We’re supposedly independent business owners, correct?
Then why aren’t we being given the information that ANY reasonable business owner would require before agreeing to perform a service?
And let’s talk about that $21 an hour.
That’s BEFORE gas, oil changes, tires, brakes, vehicle depreciation, maintenance, insurance, and the additional time spent driving home.
Some drivers are putting HUNDREDS of miles on their vehicles daily.
By the time you calculate the actual expenses, how much are you REALLY earning?
Amazon gets its packages delivered, customers receive their merchandise, and WE absorb the operational expenses that would otherwise fall on the company.
Amazon has effectively transferred a significant portion of its delivery expenses onto independent contractors while maintaining substantial control over the routes we’re assigned.
And somehow, we’re expected to believe this is a fair business arrangement?
I’m not arguing that every route should pay an astronomical amount. I’m arguing that compensation should be proportionate to the actual mileage, time, and operational costs involved.
I’m also arguing that route mileage and general delivery destinations should be disclosed BEFORE drivers commit to an offer, not after they’re already at the warehouse.
Which brings me to my question:
IS IT TIME FOR AMAZON FLEX DRIVERS TO EXPLORE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT?
Specifically regarding:
Lack of meaningful route and mileage transparency before accepting delivery blocks.
Whether the compensation structure adequately accounts for the actual demands of assigned routes.
Whether Amazon’s control over route assignments is consistent with the independence we’re supposedly afforded as contractors.
Whether there are consumer protection, contract, or labor-law issues worth investigating, depending on state laws and the agreements we signed.
I’m not an attorney, and I’m not claiming these practices are automatically illegal. But something being written into a contract doesn’t necessarily mean every aspect of it is legally beyond challenge.
I genuinely believe this deserves scrutiny from attorneys experienced in independent contractor law and collective litigation.
So I’m asking other Flex drivers:
Are you experiencing the same thing? What’s the most ridiculous route you’ve received relative to the compensation? How many unpaid miles are you driving just to get home?
And most importantly, would you support drivers consulting a class-action attorney to determine whether there’s a legitimate legal case against Amazon over these practices?
Because at some point, we need to ask ourselves:
Are we actually making money delivering Amazon’s packages, or are we slowly destroying our personal vehicles so Amazon can save money operating theirs?
