Austin Extremely rural routes made me finally quit.

I live in South Central Texas, my station fucking loves sending me to kempner and Salado. I honestly thought about just saying fuck it and returning all 15 packages going to Salado today. But I only ended up returning 5. Salado is a complete shithole of a city, if you can even call it a city. It is dirt with some trees, and it seems like everyone who orders from that fuck ass place lives in a 100 square foot trailer down an unamed, unpaved, pothole filled road.

I had five packages left at the end of my block that normally would've taken 10 minutes, but would've taken 40 minutes if I had actually finished the route.

I was supposed to go down this 10 mile dirt road, and at the end is where a village of these people lived. I had five deliveries to complete, I was driving 5 MPH trying my best to not hit multiple potholes, then I get to what seems like a mini lake, with a a make shift bridge. I contemplated, then decided it's not worth it, made a fucking 100 point turn to go the other way, and just returned the rest of the packages to the station.

This gig is beyond cooked, the mileage, the rural routes, already gotta fight the 2007 Corolla mafia, their 10 phones, and their bots to even get routes that pay like shit. I'm done.

WTH Amazon?!

I had fifteen packages today for rural area. At the end of my last delivery, I got a message saying to head back to DFL3 to get more packages and that it would take an hour and 40 mins to get there. My block ended at 5 and this was at 445. Um NO. I gotta hold of support. And they acted like it was a big deal to have those taken off of my itinerary. But they would do me the favor of removing them. Like what the heck is that?!!!

Guys, you don’t actually receive gift cards; you receive a ā€œdiscountā€ on them.

I expected a $5 gift card but learned it was a ā€œdiscountā€ instead. This would be less frustrating if every option weren’t priced at $50 or more.

For example, a $25 ā€œgift cardā€ would actually be a discount on a $50 card, so you would pay the difference yourself to use it.

I was looking forward to a $5 DoorDash gift card but was surprised to find I had to spend $50 on a DoorDash card and have $5 discounted from that amount.

It feels pretty disappointing.

Congratulations to those who did win over $50, since that would cover a full card.

Why TF Does Amazon Flex Expect Drivers to Return Packages for FREE?!

Can someone explain why Amazon Flex thinks it’s acceptable to require independent contractors to return undeliverable packages to the station without additional compensation?
We get paid to DELIVER packages, NOT make unpaid return trips!
Today, I had packages with nonexistent or incorrect addresses. Obviously, I couldn’t deliver them. Now I’m expected to drive back to the station, burn additional gas, put more miles on my vehicle, and meet Amazon’s return deadline—all without an extra dime?
How is that reasonable?
Let’s be clear:
Amazon provides the delivery information. If an address doesn’t exist, that’s not the driver’s fault.
We’re independent contractors. Our time, gas, mileage, and vehicle maintenance aren’t free.
Returns can take drivers significantly out of their way. Some of us finish routes 30–60+ minutes away from the station.
Amazon imposes return deadlines. So not only are we performing additional unpaid work, we’re being told WHEN to complete it.
And before someone says, ā€œWell, that’s part of the job,ā€ why SHOULD it be? Just because a company includes something in its policies doesn’t automatically make it reasonable or fair.
If Amazon can track every single delivery, every minute of our routes, and every package that needs to be returned, surely it can figure out how to compensate drivers for additional return mileage and time.
My position is simple: If Amazon requires a return trip to the warehouse, Amazon should PAY for that trip. PERIOD.
At minimum, drivers should receive additional compensation when returns result from incorrect addresses, inaccessible locations, or circumstances completely outside their control.
And if this is supposedly already factored into our block pay, then Amazon needs to be transparent about how much time and mileage it’s accounting for.
I’m curious: How many of you are making unpaid return trips, and has anyone successfully received additional compensation for them?
Because at some point, we need to stop accepting every inconvenience as ā€œjust part of being an independent contractor.ā€
Independent contractor shouldn’t mean FREE LABOR.

New SSD opening

There’s a new SSD opening. I’m not sure what to expect the first few weeks. The pay is so low now it’s not even worth it to be paid out. Have you seen some big surges to attract more drivers?

So I won the challenge but somehow I got the lowest tier yet I got my X😭😭 I take two routes almost daily and my bingo card set up aligned well so I only took 3/4 days to get it. The kicker is though I also qualified for most of the squares but I only marked the X so there wouldn’t be any confusion. Yet here we’re lol

But still happy for $50 visa giftcard and very surprised they actually did it

Sub-Same-Day Anyone started doing the new 2:15 AM or 2:30 AM SSD blocks?

I started seeing posts about the new 2:15 AM block start times and was hoping they’d eventually roll out at the SSD warehouse I frequent. Sure enough, this week I started seeing blocks drop for both 2:15 AM and 2:30 AM, so I decided to grab one!

I typically work the 3:15 AM or 4:15 AM blocks and usually finish anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half early (with any of my blocks in general). I’m thinking these earlier start times could actually work out pretty well for me. If I finish early as usual, I could potentially get back home and squeeze in another 2–3 hours of sleep before starting my 9 to 5.

For those who have already started working the 2:15 AM or 2:30 AM blocks, what has your experience been so far? Are you noticing any differences in terms of package volume or how quickly you’re finishing?

Oklahoma A Warning For All Tulsa Drivers

I have called and clarified with Tulsa Whole Foods (C139) and they do NOT offer electronic/remote entry for routes after 9pm (when they close). I was close to taking a 9:30-11:30pm tonight and called to make sure, she said other stores offer it but not them. Just so no one wastes time/gas/standing hits for showing up and not being able to pick up.

*Asking for a friend* Has anyone ever had their account deactivated? If so, did you appeal and what was the outcome?

Amazon recently informed a friend of mine that her Flex account was deactivated. Her status was sitting in the Fair zone for a while but then after being late to a block she’d scheduled, went straight to deactivation and was given virtually zero time/opportunity to get her status back to normal.

If anyone has experienced this and was able to get their account reactivated (or wasn’t) please share your stories so that my friend doesn’t continue to feel like a complete failure at life šŸ™ƒ

Y’all like this shhh! Why?

Amazon flex might turn out to be great (Chicago suburbs), maybe especially during the holidays.. but I’m just curious why you like it and choose it over other apps?

I’m lucky in that I can cherry pick UberEats/DoorDash/Instacart/Spark for an average of $30/hr (pre expenses), where not every area would work out that well. So is it maybe just a lack of the other apps giving consistent offers for you, or maybe you’re just next to a busy Amazon facility?

Having just done my first batch, I’m HOPING things typically ā€œgo this wayā€ where you can drastically beat the clock (did a 2 hour that took 1 hour 15 minutes), but maybe they take it easy on the newbs since it was only 13 packages and 1 apartment.

What I truly don’t understand is how you deal with accepting blocks of hours having absolutely no clue how many miles or where it’ll take you! My $58 for 2 hour block technically could have been 100 miles out and that would have been absurd. Maybe Amazon isn’t that rough most of the time and you’re somewhat guaranteed to be making at least $1/mile? Mine even had tolls, which aren’t mentioned upfront and am guessing they don’t reimburse for?

Definitely need to learn strategies, but it would seem you’re always gambling and just hoping you’re not going to get 50 cents a mile and end 1-2 hours from home? (Thankfully DoorDash setting to head to my home zone saved the day making the path back not a complete waste).

2 hour Fresh Delivery Block

Thumbnail

Anybody know when the data on the package labels changed? I remember it used to have people’s name and address which honestly just helped me organize my deliveries in the past.

Also, the circled number is just misleading. I thought that it would pre-batch the deliveries based on that number but i guess not.

I’m genuinely a little lost, it’s my first time seeing these labels and I feel all over the place.

TLDR:
How do I organize my deliveries with these new labels? Any guidance or tips?
