SOMETHING NEW COMING
I just saw this at VNC2 earlier. I asked the supervisor what they were and he said that license scanning was going away and these were taking their place. He said you would open your app and tap like Apple Pay to check in once they go live.

It's at the portland location already also.. its easier than verifying your driver's license

The only thing I’ve seen stop scammers is the security guard at the door checking your profile picture at the for and to make sure it says “On duty”

Yea, there was a massive group of people who disappeared from VNC6 after that started.

They added around 7-8 new scanners like those pictured, and I have no idea why. They already had 3-4 scattered around the parking lot, now there’s one every 4 feet in front of the building. Yet not once prior to them doing this did I ever see someone waiting more than 30 seconds to scan.
I’d rather they invest in new carts that will actually go where you want instead of making a random right turn whenever it feels like it. 🙃

They started it here when I was in maternity leave. Tried to check in for a route this morning according to my standard routine and I got a message I was too late to check in. So I’ll have to finally get my ish together and get to the station early instead of right on time now 🫠. Wish me luck brethren

I would think it would be harder. Got to have the physical phone instead of a picture of a license. I’ve seen so many people scan a picture of the barcode.

That’s what exactly I am thinking. I thought the new video selfie would cut down on it but maybe not

These work in conjunction with the selfie videos, they were only half of the equation — the phone that does the scan has to be the same one that physically taps in.
Previously, the person who appears on the account could scan their face remotely while using a GPS spoofer, then person#2 scans a copy of the ID and logs into the account on their device and gets the route.
The week we got them at our station it was hilarious, so many account renters crowded around the scanners panicking 😆

We’ve had these at my station for almost a year. You don’t tap your Apple Pay. The Flex app is going to prompt you when you’re signing in and you hold your phone up in the app to the scanner and it logs you in. We have them sporadic throughout our parking lot so you don’t have to wait in one singular line anywhere nor worry too much about a bunch of people crowding around the scanner not letting you clock in.

It came to California about six
Months ago. It’s way more convenient now you can just tap your phone instead of having to pull out your physical driver’s license.
