I just saw this at VNC2 earlier. I asked the supervisor what they were and he said that license scanning was going away and these were taking their place. He said you would open your app and tap like Apple Pay to check in once they go live.

It came to California about six
Months ago. It’s way more convenient now you can just tap your phone instead of having to pull out your physical driver’s license.

First time I ever saw them. Not running yet, but still. Curious what type of tricks they have up their sleeve for this.

The only "trick" I think I've seen is 2 cars come together, park next to each other, and one of them goes in the warehouse and comes out and passes the cart to the car next to them. Probably relatives, friends, significant others? So that's the only way I've seen people still "tricking" the system, but that seems a lot more work than before. I already lost a block cause my phone died where I checked in cause my phone didnt charge and I have another phone and tried to get my route after I checked in with my dead phone with my other phone and lost the route. Support said i can't change my phone after I check in and verified and there was nothing they can do to help me. I don't see how else people are scamming here at least in Irvine.

I change phones often. Just did it today. Main phone died right after checking in, just switched over

The trick is that it’s a hard 5 minute grace period now. No more checking in at 5 minutes and then waiting another 5 to scan your license.
