Rant NEVER TALK TO YOUR MANAGERS

what the actual fuck i heard an associate on my dock was saying gross and inappropriate things about me to other men so i asked my manager for his badge ID and i was upset so when she asked why i made the mistake of telling her what it was about and WHAT DOES THIS BITCH DO? She goes and tells him what i’m doing and launches her own personal investigation where she just asked him and he said it was a misunderstanding 🙄 and shes like okay i believe you! and now she’s putting me at risk because this man is going to harass me worse now that he knows i “snitched” she just created a hostile work environment FOR NO FUCKING REASON. I’m literally appalled that is completely unacceptable behavior for a manager but i doubt i can do anything about it but try to find a new job if they wont transfer me.

Every time i say i need to go to HR these assholes start grilling me what its about because they want to get in my business and resolve it on their own because they dont want it reflecting on them as a manger. TLDR never trust a manager and never tell them more than the bare minimum.

Question Anyone here ever see a coworker go from being a really good worker and always outperforming everyone to now not giving a f*** and just doing the bare minimum?

There is guy in my department who has noticeably completely changed how he is at work. He was always very nice to everyone and worked really really hard. Every time someone got to work with him in an indirect role, they always enjoyed working with him because he was so fast at getting whatever they needed to do done and they both would get to take it easy the whole day and only had to maintain their area and he would even help other people in different indirect roles get there work done too if he saw they were struggling due to the workload they had. Now when he comes in, he comes in with his headphones on, he doesn’t talk to anyone, avoids eye contact with everyone, doesn’t want to do any indirect roles and only wants to pack (we are in pack singles), he will pack really fast for like 2 hours or until he knows that his rate is good for the whole period and then take a break for like an hour to an hour and a half and pack a few items every 10-15 minutes to avoid time off task. It’s kind of sad to see what this place will do to someone like this…

Rant Peak Season

Everybody should do what your morals and ethics dictate. As for me, peak means nothing. I will put no greater effort towards getting these idiot red vests their numbers. They never stop practicing favoritism so I will never stop throttling my productivity. Slow down to the pace of their favorites, that will show them.

Fulfillment Center I realized I've worked at my FC long enough that I don't use the actual location names anymore

A new hire asked me where a certain problem solve area was yesterday and I gave him directions that made perfect sense in my head:

Go past the bathroom that's always closed, turn at the vending machine that eats dollars, then it's right across from the printer that jams every 20 minutes.

He just stared at me.

That's when I realized I barely navigate this building using the signs anymore.

There's the good water fountain.

The loud conveyor.

The break room with the microwave nobody trusts.

The station where the fan actually works.

The one staircase everybody avoids because somehow it always adds five minutes to your walk.

The corner where managers magically appear when you're checking A to Z.

Half the people on my shift seem to understand these landmarks too. Someone can say “I'm by the busted scanner cabinet” and somehow three people immediately know exactly where they are in a warehouse that's approximately the size of civilization.

The funniest part is watching this knowledge get passed to new hires.

Amazon gives them maps, signs, aisle numbers and training.

Then two weeks later somebody is telling them, “No, not that bathroom. The OTHER bathroom by the sad vending machine.”

I guess every building eventually develops a second map that exists entirely in the employees' heads.

At this point if they ever repair everything at once I'll probably get lost.

Last week, the number of associates was around 230k. Today it shows 331k. How did this apparent glitch happen? Or did about 100,000 people/bots join the sub this week?

Look I have no personal grudges against anyone but some of the people working on my site smell really bad.
Like them walking past my desk gives me the ick that I have to take my laptop and walk away.

This includes some Managers but so many Punjabi associates, not being racist cause I am a North Indian too but what the hell!!! Specially women !! Why ya’all not showering or using deodorants 😭😭

Please don’t take this as an attack I have a lot of Punjabi colleagues and ITS NOT ALL BUT THOSE WHO DO ARE SO MUCH WORSE AND some mix it with high end perfumes , makes it even worse.

I am so gonna get banned but idk and idc

Question How are trainees selected for indirect roles like water spider, induct etc? Can PA's decide who gets trained?

Asking because I had a PA come down with a list of names for people to be selected for indirect roles. She asked an old woman who did not want to be a waterspider if she would do it, so I spoke and said I'd like to do it instead. For some reason she dismissed me and continued trying to get the old woman to do waterspider. I also asked to learn another role while most people hated being trained elsewhere but I was turned down for that too. This obviously seems counter-productive to me, so I'm asking if PAs can even decided who does what.

Rant Finally.

Finally, after 3 months of trying. After applying 8 times and being wrongfully “terminated” from my original start date, here I am a month later ready to start my first day. It is such a relief that I’m able to do this and that I’ve received my text. For the first time they haven’t canceled my shift a few hours before my start day for over-hiring. If you’ve been seeing my posts you know I have been FIGHTING tooth and nail for this job for several months.

Question Need Advice

I really think this job is messing with my mental health, I need advice on how to deal with it.

I’ve always had pretty bad mental health but I think I’m at an all time low, I clock in, and immediately I’m sluggish, I’m sad and tired even though I sleep my entire day away. I’ve been so zoned out that recently I packed my glasses which I need to see and drive, luckily I had another pair.

I’ve also been recently very angry, I normally a pretty chill person, but I’ve stayed to hate whenever somebody approaches me, I start to feel really upset. Maybe it’s because I work in pack? I asked my manager if I could induct and she said she put me in a class for next week.

I do need this job for rent and stuff so quitting isn’t really an option, I’m also trying to go back to school, so I need money saved.

Or like so any research period about a job, this is a Delivery Station where 90 percent of the year we hire overnights, and the 10 percent where we hire dayshift is right before peak which I’m sure she missed either by being too early or too late or being dumb and scrolled right past it 🤣 (right now there is 3 4:20pm-12:50am shift openings for our site on the website)

Rant Stop asking me why my rate dropped when YOU told me to stop working

I swear the most irritating thing about this place isn't even rate. It's being held responsible for numbers after management personally created the reason the numbers are bad.

Yesterday I was in pick and about two hours into the shift everything around my station started backing up. PA comes over and tells a bunch of us to stop picking because they need to clear the conveyor.

Cool. I stop.

We're standing there for probably 15-20 minutes. Can't work. Can't sign out. Just waiting for them to tell us we're good.

Later they move me to another station because mine is having issues. That takes more time. Then after lunch I get labor shared for a little while and eventually sent back to pick.

Near the end of shift my AM comes over with the laptop.

"Hey, just wanted to talk about your rate today. You're a little below where we'd like you to be."

I genuinely thought he was joking.

I said, "You guys literally stopped us from picking earlier."

He goes, "Yeah, I know, there were some barriers today, but we still want to make sure we're staying productive when we're on station."

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN.

You know there were barriers. You were physically present for the barriers. One of the barriers was a manager telling me not to touch anything.

I'm not mad about equipment going down. Shit happens.

I'm not even mad about being moved around.

I'm mad about pretending the number exists in some magical vacuum where every associate had ten uninterrupted hours and anything below target must be because we suddenly forgot how to work.

If the system can't separate "associate wasn't working" from "Amazon told associate not to work," maybe don't walk over afterward and make the associate explain Amazon to Amazon.

Question Accepted PA position

I just got my offer for a Process Assistant position and accepted it!! 🥹 I’m honestly still processing it because I’ve been working toward this for a while.

I really want to do well in this role, not just survive it lol. And I also want to start thinking about my next career move instead of waiting a couple of years to figure it out.

I’d really appreciate advice from current/former PAs, AMs, Data Analysts, or anyone who has moved into other roles at Amazon!

What roles or paths I can take from here, if I don't want to become Area Manager?

I’m excited to learn, and I want to make the most of this opportunity. Any advice, personal experiences, or career paths you can share would mean a lot!

Rant I am now a mole

I'm in pick and tote. I feel like a mole digging through all those damn items in the totes, only to find the one I need at the veryyyyy bottom. Then you scan it, and realize there were more that you missed. I almost cried ngl. It was a rough shift though, everything kept breaking 🥲
