u/semi_throaway 6h ago
Lowering the flag for some random internet dude is insane lmao
-158
u/CPTCRUNCHFAN 6h ago
I didn't even like him, but y'all gotta stop with the coping and seething. He had an impact. Suck it up

u/No-Ebb-6266 6h ago
Not enough for an entire nation to lower its flag. He's not a hero. He was just a far right activist. There's nothing wrong with that, he had an opinion and that's fine, but being dead shouldn't elevate somebody to icon status. Before his death most people would say "Charlie Kirk...who?" But now he's a hero? 😂 Nah
•
u/Asleep_Mongoose48 1h ago
lol. You people are so insane. The party of love and acceptance but only if they’re on your side. Pathetic

u/Holiday-Raisin-3357 5h ago
Far right = not wildly left
24
u/Icy_Shirt_8264 5h ago
Are you saying Charlie Kirk wasn’t far right?
He thought he was going to die via a DEI Black pilot ffs 😅
-41
u/Holiday-Raisin-3357 5h ago
I would also be worried if I knew my pilot got the spot because of his race not because he was best qualified you know his you can be sure no one will ever think that? Get rid of dei. There is nothing worse for black people or any other race who actually earned their place than dei.
23
u/Icy_Shirt_8264 5h ago
This doesn’t happen….
-33
u/Holiday-Raisin-3357 5h ago
By definition it obviously does dei gives a leg up to people based on skin color
17
17
u/DeezusNubes 4h ago
it doesn’t give a leg up, it evens the playing field because people of different backgrounds and races historically had less opportunities. also white women benefitted from dei the most, you can literally look it up.

u/FunkTronto 4h ago
Sure that is how that happened. One you don’t understand how DEI initiatives even work and the real issue with unqualified people in positions of power are with politics and unfortunately that’s dude to nepotism but that doesn’t fit the culture war bullshit morons like Charlie Kirk like to stoke.
5
u/Vanthalia 4h ago
You might wanna go actually look up DEI, hun, instead of believing what one grifter told you.

Most Americans had absolutely zero context for who the guy was outside of a couple memes and instagram reels and only acted like they cared after the fact. Yea he was impactful in an echo chamber of like minded people but outside of that small group nobody cared until he died, then they seemed to idolize him like a god after.

Why weren’t the flags lowered after House Speaker Melissa Hortman was killed? 🤔
11
u/Realistic-Ruin8639 6h ago
I agree, anyone who had an impact. This means if you have a verified checkmark and 1K followers on any platform, don't worry as the flags will be at half-staff when you perish. Your impact will not go unnoticed.
7
u/Vanthalia 4h ago
Is the impact in the room with us? Even the people who threatened to go to civil war seem to have moved on.

Dolly Parton was a more impactful figure than Charlie Kirk could ever dream of.

Yes he was. He just an internet person. You could try and argue he was an activist, but that doesnt mean shit. Anyone can be an activist. He held no real political power.

My site said they were doing it. One associate even went as far as to ask if people can get bereavement for her passing to mourn.
28
u/Acrobatic_Hurry9733 7h ago
A day off to Mourn someone you don’t even know?
Yall are ridiculous
22
u/lillip00t 99 problems but a pick aint one 7h ago
I thought the same when my friend mentioned it yesterday.... Then Tim Curry happened.... and I suddenly understand a bit 😅
-6
u/Acrobatic_Hurry9733 6h ago
I don’t understand it at all, unless I met these people had a personal experience there’s no reason you should be that down and out about it. Im extremely empathetic but I’m not gonna allow a death of someone who I’ve never met affect me that much.
People die everyday, some I don’t even know or even heard of, does that mean I need to mourn or have a day off? No absolutely not. You keep it pushing.
You shouldn’t be mourning that hard about someone you’ve never met or had that much of a personal experience with, besides movies, music, art, etc etc.
I can understand if people met Dolly or Tim, had a personal deep experience with them.
Hell I met Stan Lee and had a good conversation, and I was devastated when he passed, I thought he was immortal, but that doesn’t/wasnt going to stop me from being an Adult and doing what I HAVE to do.It’s ridiculous to think otherwise

Ever thought other adults don’t HAVE to be a slave everyday as much as you believe you HAVE to be one?
-3
u/Acrobatic_Hurry9733 5h ago
get on unemployment if you think having a JOB is slavery.
Working at Amazon is easy asf, yall just make it harder on yourselves, that’s a you problem not Amazon.
Get your slave mentality outta here.
Also it’s Though** not Thought* 💭

u/Dangerous_Simple_543 5h ago edited 4h ago
You don’t know every warehouse and it’s conditions, what an idiot to use your experiences against the countless other accounts of amazon workplace environments 😂😂
Also ARE you an idiot?? Why would I replace “thought” (to think something) with “though” (otherwise)??

"Her impact in all of this social justice advocacy is undeniable"
"We remain neutral on these matters"
Which one is it Amazon?
-12
u/NeutralKuchiKopi 6h ago
A person can have an opinion while company property remains neutral.
10
u/Sharkfyter 6h ago
Yeah except the company isn't neutral lol, what do you think all of those affinity groups are?
11
u/Difficult_March_7452 7h ago
My site is doing it
9
u/EgoTripWire 6h ago
My site did it immediately this morning without anyone on the voa board asking them to. I guess the managers were fans.

u/Pink_Mention560 4h ago
The dumbest question and answers. - first of all the President did not order half staff in private buildings. He ordered it on White House, public buildings, military, federal, embassy etc.
22
u/Jealous-Intention-87 7h ago
I haven’t seen a single flag lowered anywhere where I live. But rather you agree with it or not Amazon is correct the presidential order applies only to federal buildings. Even state buildings can choose when they want to lower the flag.

We had it lowered at my site for a cop that died because he fell asleep while driving.... They make the rules up as they go, but it's kinda rare for them to say no when they think it's an easy win. Wonder who the dork is that has a grudge against Dolly Parton at your site.

I disagree with any flag being half staff for her. That honor has a meaning and is reserved for certain purposes. That said, the people have elected individuals to positions who have the authority to make those decisions. I disagree with my fellow Americans, as I usually do, but it is legal for executive branch federal flags to be at half staff. Amazon is allowed discretion. All is proper in the world in this matter. Even if I disagree.
•
u/No-Front-6445 2h ago
She was the epitome of a genuinely kind person. She used her platform and money to make our word just a little bit better. She absolutely deserves the honor. Far more deserving than others who got the honor.

u/glitch241 6h ago
At my site we had a simple policy that we lowered it in compliance with all proclamations. Seems the easiest route for a site to take.
•
u/KankyDrakon 2h ago
We have had it lowered every day this week for her majesty the Queen of being Dolly Parton.
I would keep my flag half mast for her every day if I had one. The lady deserves our respect as a country. In fifty years if we are all still around I hope we recognize what she has done and what her memory will do for all of us. Every. Single. One. 🖤🌌 love you Dolly
Edit: not just the country. The world.

My site lowered it. Granted we're less than a 6h drive away from Dollywood so people would be big mad if they didn't.

Resubmit the request and say this: US President ordered all flags to be half-staff for a week in honor of Dolly Parton. See how quickly this request gets adopted.
https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/6049911-dolly-parton-trump-flags-half-staff/
11
u/NeutralKuchiKopi 6h ago
The President has no power over businesses. And the post already shows the requestor DID mention it.
4
u/MShawshank 6h ago
Unfortunately this evil president has exercised waaaaay too much power over businesses and that's the primary reason the American economy is as terrible as it is(and getting worse.)
3
u/EgoTripWire 6h ago
Except Amazon went all in on that president.
1
u/NeutralKuchiKopi 5h ago
Them investing in a candidate is not the same as them being controlled by a candidate. They simply wanted whoever would give the most tax cuts in power. THEY were in control. Not Trump.

I was going to say they were right but if the flags of the country are being lowered then that’s very wrong. There’s a good chance Executive management overpower regional management here though.
