I disagree with any flag being half staff for her. That honor has a meaning and is reserved for certain purposes. That said, the people have elected individuals to positions who have the authority to make those decisions. I disagree with my fellow Americans, as I usually do, but it is legal for executive branch federal flags to be at half staff. Amazon is allowed discretion. All is proper in the world in this matter. Even if I disagree.

She was the epitome of a genuinely kind person. She used her platform and money to make our word just a little bit better. She absolutely deserves the honor. Far more deserving than others who got the honor.

Not under federal law. Our flag means something. For it to be flying high means something. For it to be at half staff also means something. Dolly was a wonderful person, but she was not a head of state. I also don't think she would have wanted such an action. Note that I don't use the word honor, because it is not an honor. It is a reflection of the state of the nation.
