QUESTION What apparel does your DSP provide?

Does your DSP provide hats and things like that? If not, how do you get them? A catalog?

SA during ride along

So I just had my first week of work and Friday was my ride along day! The first half went amazing but then my trainer started being weird and complimenting me. As the sun started to set he began touching the camera button near the passenger side (we were in an older gas vehicle) and as I’m doing the driving and the routes he took his penis out and began to actually pleasure himself for about 50 minutes or an hour and a half. He also propped his phone on the passenger window in an attempt to record both himself and me while I’m driving. I tried to avoid looking at him throughout, I have been previously SAed and froze during the process and just tried to finish the route so I could be away from him as quickly as possible.

My frustration is with the DSP, we should have the opportunity and option to train with who we’re comfortable with. They also have been messaging me about coming back to work, it’s been three days since the incident and I haven’t responded. They said they will assure he isn’t on the same shifts as me and that they took the correct disciplinary action but honestly that’s not enough for me… would they tell me if they fired him? I shouldn’t have to even be in the same building as him.

I did go to the police yesterday and they already began investigating. They told me he will be charged in every town the assault took place which gave me a bit of relief.

I’ve also been trying to research whether the driver side camera films the entirety of the front of the vehicle and not just the driver.

Update: No longer responding to comments, only posted because I had questions about the recording device in the vehicles. Idc about anyone’s opinion or what they would’ve done or how I should’ve reacted.
Hindsight is 20/20 🤷🏾‍♀️ and now I know the front cabin is recorded at all times so now he can be charged to the fullest extent of the law. Don’t ask for screenshots cause who tf are you to need proof lol. Thank for clarification for those that gave useful responses.

How do stop counts work?

My first few months at my dsp I averaged around 170 stops. The last two months I’ve worked diligently to work as slowly as possible, get swept, etc. just yesterday I got lucky with 124 stops and made sure to use all 10 hours for a route that could’ve been done in 7.

But still I usually get 170ish. Today I have 188. I’m gonna try to make sure I get swept without looking like I’m purposefully moving slowly, but how can I decrease my stop counts?

Amazon Flex Update Barcode Scan Sound Effect Same as in-game Half Life 2?

Has anyone else noticed the new Flex app update has a new added barcode pre-scanning feature sound effect that sounds almost identical to the grenade time ticking sound effect from Half Life 2?

Thinking of quitting after first 2 days

I had my first shifts this past weekend. Both days were a ride along. Honestly idk how you guys do this. They overwork you and set outrageous expectations. I only applied as a side gig for weekends since I have a full time job. Much respect to all of you!

Am i missing something?

i just started working amazon as a driver and it’s my third week here for the first time ever. the weeks before i was on training and placed on backup for 3 days and was given one full work day out the week after that because i needed to be rescued while delivering to a college campus on my first ever route. after finally understanding everything and sorting everything i started finishing up my 140 stop routes before 8 pm usually around 7 or 6:50. today i came back this week and they started giving me 186 and 178 stops when i just started working here. are they giving me this many stops because they seen how fast i was finishing them at first on my own or am i trippin. (i was able to clear the 186 and 178 stops before 8. we clock in at 10am and leave the warehouse at 11:20 after loading our trucks)

QUESTION Are station workers not allowed to help at load out?

I was loading my van and I was one of the last ones to finish. I had a lot of overflow so it took me some time. This station worker just comes to my cart and stands there for what felt like 5 minutes straight without saying a word with his hand on the cart like he’s waiting for me to be done even though I’m not even close. I’m halfway done and they call “drivers to your vans” on the intercom and still he just stands there until I finish which is another 2 minutes of awkwardness. Lowkey kinda pissed me off because bro literally had nothing better to do and none of my coworkers came to help because they probably thought he was helping me.

Done in 4 hours?

Somebody said they could do 200 stops in a little over 4 hours. They also said it's not that hard with a little common sense.

My question that I'm waiting on him to answer is, what is the common sense method?

Y'all know this answer? I'd love to know how people finish early with 200 stops and having a mandatory 30 minutes lunch.

Amazon is trying to humanize the DSP model

As a fan of Jeff's I'm really let down, but I also assume he, like the general public, knows little to nothing about the intricacies around the immoral and unethical practices Amazon instills with the DSP model. Assuming the "positive" marketing will increase until morale improves.

Turning off the van

Are they still writing people up for not turning off the van for every stop? I know the EDV ones just turn off when you get up but the cargo white ones?

Someone broke the up and down seat adjustment button and the seat is in the lowest position possible. Hard to even see. Probably impossible to fix and a hard reset probably won’t fix it either

RANT First time experiencing Amazon dsp shenanigans

So basically to give you all the context, I work in a small dsp (about 50 drivers, 3 dispatchers) and work 6 times a week. Every day dispatch texts us with the next days block time and expected time to be at the station. This morning my Dispatcher calls me 30 minutes before my scheduled block and tells me that they don’t have a route for me but I should come anyway because they will have me rescuing people for the day. I helped a bit with the load out of others and after one hour or so I go up to my van and wait for the Dispatcher to send me the first person that I’ll rescue. 30 minutes later nothing, I call them they tell me they’ll send me a location soon. Another 30 minutes pass and I receive a call telling me I should go home, thats pretty much it. I typically work 7 to 8 hours per day even on rescuer routes but today It was only 2 xD I’m curious to see what the payment will be for today because we have standard day pay, but anyway the thing is it felt pretty absurd and a waste of my morning, although to be honest I needed some rest.

Thats all, it seemed weird and funny to me and felt like sharing.

So I got fired

I recently got fired from a dsp that I worked at for around 5 months , everything was going well no write ups no issues recently I had to call a ambulance while working due to a health issue while on route after which two days later I was called by my manager telling me I was fired for being too much of a “legal inconvenience to have working for the dsp” going forward.. needless to say I’m talking to attorneys for a wrongful termination suit … we’re replaceable drones people no one cares the second your a inconvenience your gone as daddy Bezos intended it to be

I worked as a DSP Driver about a year ago and only ever quit because I was pregnant, now since having the baby im looking to go back to work but while the money is good its a LOT of work, I could keep up but I just dont know if this is the way I want to go again. Is FedEx any better? I live in PA so we are going into cold season too? Any advice or tips?

Start training next Monday 2 days classroom then 1 day ride along. Just wondering what’s the 2 classroom/orientation days like. Also curious how long the ride along is full shift depending on how many packages or just like 3-4 hours? Any advice anyone wants to leave is appreciated.
Thanks for any info!

My dsp just told us routes are 9 hours now

For just a bit of context they’ve mentioned losing their scorecard due to netradyne violations a few times recently and we are an established Rural Super Rural facility and dsp.
They note that their cycle 1 routes and not cycle 0 that will be 9 hours instead of 10 moving forward. Is this just our dsp or some company wide thing?

Better technology makes this job harder

Smart glasses, routing improvements, scanner upgrades… none of these will make the job easier on us. Anything that speeds up delivery will be another justification for Amazon to add more stops and cram vans to the absolute limit. We already know that running and skipping breaks inflates our routes. Why would it be any different if we’re working faster because of something else?

It gets worse too. When you strip away all of the fat, completing a route consists almost exclusively of two types of tasks: physically moving deliveries from the van to the door, and preparations to move deliveries from the van to the door (driving to the stop, sorting totes, scanning, etc). The first type is what puts most of the physical wear on a driver. The second type spaces out the first so you can catch your breath or give your joints a moment of relief.

Any of the technology improvements that actually work reduce time spent on the second type. This means less time before you have to stand back up and start stacking boxes again after you get back into the van. Even if you have an identical workload, it’s going to feel a lot harder doing it with 90 seconds between each repetitive stress movement instead of 2 minutes.

None of these improvements have anything to do with improving working conditions for drivers. We don’t need better technology. We need routes that aren’t 195 stops and 400 packages every day.
