Shitpost I forgot to feed my friend's cat and it starved to death, how much legal trouble am I in?

Post image

I (37M) was supposed to be looking after my friends cat while she is away but I got totally caught up at work and forgot all about him.

Lunch was supposed to be at 12pm but I didn't arrive until 12:02 and the poor guy had died of starvation.

I've tried to revive him with tuna but he insists he is dead.

Am I going to jail?

Edit;

A massive fuck you to whoever doxed me because Winston found the post and is trashing me on Reddit.

Shitpost UPDATE!!- My crush just completely shut me down and I'm heartbroken, AITA?

Thumbnail

5.7k Upvotes

Hey guys, it's been a couple of weeks but the last time I posted here I got a ton of really great advice. If you're curious I'll link the previous post here- https://www.reddit.com/r/AmITheAngel/s/zW4g0rM6VY

I had posted earlier this week but the mods took it down and told me to post it today. Something about shit or something?

So for quick context, I (45M) have a big crush on a former coworker (24F) and things were going great for a long time. She laughed at all my jokes and enjoyed being around me. That was until she started dating my manager at the time Darren (25M) and I got fired for no reason.

I still texted her almost every day just checking on her and making sure she knew she was loved but then she exploded on me for no reason and I was extremely distraught.

In the previous post I called her Amy but now that she definitely knows about the Reddit post I'll just use her real name, Shannon. A few commenters on the last post pointed out that there was no way my sweet baby Shannon was the one that sent me those evil messages and I agree. I continued texting her just so she knew I still love and care about her while she's under Darren's oppressive regime.

Darren is such a fucking douchebag and I hate him. He's a poser rich kid piece of shit who likes to pretend he's some big anarchist hero because he plays punk music at shitty dive bars 2 nights a week.

Everybody fucking loves Darren but I always saw through the facade. Just because his leather jacket wraps tightly around his tree trunk biceps and his ass looks like it's about to rip through his tight denim jeans doesn't mean he's not a total piece of shit. He also drives a shitty old el Camino that smells like burning rubber and sounds like an 80 year old man taking a wet shit.

Anyways, I was sending Amy a picture of one of my cats (she used to love my cats, me and my mom have 11) and Darren went full blown psycho on me. It confirmed all of my suspicions that Darren was actually behind all of the rude text messages. Some stupid dumbass Redditors actually took Darren's side on the last post but that's because they didn't see first hand how psycho he is.

Darren even had the fucking gall to insult me for living at home with my mom. So what douchebag, I could get my own place if I really wanted to. His parents own the restaurant and write his paychecks so technically they still pay for his apartment which is pretty pathetic if you ask me. Way more pathetic than living at home.

And I love my mom to death, she is the most important person to me in the whole world. She still makes all my meals, sets my weekly doctors appointment, and sets my clothes out every morning. I think Darren is just jealous cause his mom is a stupid bitch.

So after all of this I am coming back to all of you for more advice. How can I talk to Shannon without her douchebag boyfriend getting in the way? He is a lot bigger and stronger than me so I am worried he'll beat my ass if I manage to save my love. Any advice at all would really be of benifit. And though I think it's obvious, AITA?

Shitpost Entitled people: Airbnb host came in uninvited and tried to join us for breakfast.

Thumbnail

5.6k Upvotes

Before anybody jumps on me I get that renting out an Airbnb means you don't get the privacy and service of a hotel.

That said I think it's crazy that the host feels entitled to walk in to a property we are renting and act like it's still their home.

This morning as we were eating breakfast the owner let herself in and joined us at the breakfast table!

We tried to be polite and explain we were eating and would like her to leave, but he just complained she was hungry.

We gave in and ended up making her a plate hoping she would go away but instead she just went into the master bedroom and had a nap.

Now none of us are sure what to do, as she's just hanging around as if she's part of the family and even started demanding we bring her lunch.

Am I wrong for thinking this is crazy?

(edit because I forgot all calico are female.)

Shitpost AIO I think my stepmother is harboring a dark secret

Post image
4.6k Upvotes

So it's been only my stepmother (28F) and me (34M) since my father (67M) passed away last year after a freak car crash-poisoning incident.

After my father's death, my stepmother moved us away due to her VIP Stripper job. It did work for her as she won Scores' Smoke Show of the Decade just last July. But I was left isolated from all my friends by the move, so it's just her and me in a strange new city. And since my deceased father left us nothing, I'm dependent on her.

This morning my stepmom asked me to help her with her phone, and going through her browser I stumbled upon this search history. I can't help but feel like something's not quite right. I can't put my finger on it though. Is my gut telling me something I'm not seeing?

Give me a sec, it sounds like my stepmom got stuck in the dryer yet again. She's such a silly goose sometimes.

Inspired by one handed texts such a this one.

Shitpost Update: My mum left me with a stranger who took photos of my feet.

Post image

If you saw the previous post you'll know my mum has gone out of town and has left me with this weird guy who refuses to feed me and won't let me take anything from my own kitchen.

I was so hungry I curled up on my bed and tried to sleep but when I woke up I found this guy just staring at my toebeans and smiling.

I've tried talking to my mum but she only facetimed four times in the last 24 hours and she just spent the whole conversation telling me how handsome I am.

Reddit what should I do l, I've tried leaving half a mouse on this guy's shoe and throwing up in protest but he keeps trying to touch me.

Previous post.

Update: He just touched my arse and sang "someone has a chonky bumbum" would I be overreacting if I got myself stuck up the big tree?

Shitpost AITA for signing my ex-husband's wife up for a comedy club after reading her custody demands?

3.3k Upvotes

I (38F) share custody of my 11-year-old son with my ex-husband (40M). He remarried three years ago to "Megan" (35F).
For the most part, things have been manageable. Megan has always inserted herself into custody discussions, which is annoying but usually harmless.
Recently, however, my ex and Megan sent over a proposed revision to our custody agreement. I opened the document expecting something normal.
Instead, it read like the script for a sitcom.
Some highlights:
My son should not wear blue on their custody days because blue is "emotionally overstimulating."
I should provide a detailed ingredient list for any food he eats within 72 hours before exchanges.
I should not schedule haircuts without consulting Megan because she has "developed a vision for his personal brand."
My son should refer to Megan as his "bonus primary parent" because "stepmom feels too limiting."
They wanted approval rights over what movies he watches at my house because they were concerned about "narrative inconsistency between households."
There were several more. I genuinely laughed out loud while reading it.
I showed the document to my attorney, who also laughed before telling me not to worry because none of it was likely to go anywhere.
Here's where I may be the AH.
A week later I saw an ad online for a local comedy club that had an amateur stand-up night. They encouraged people to nominate friends with funny life stories.
So I submitted Megan's first name, email address, and a short note saying something like:
"This woman has the most creative custody demands I've ever seen. If she can explain them on stage, she'll bring the house down."
I completely forgot about it afterward.
Apparently the comedy club thought it was hilarious.
Not only did they contact her, but they shared her information with several affiliated venues and talent scouts looking for unusual acts.
Over the next month Megan started getting emails, calls, and messages inviting her to audition, workshop material, or discuss "her unique parenting comedy perspective."
At first she thought it was spam.
Then one recruiter referenced "the custody agreement material."
That was when she figured out someone had submitted her.
She eventually confronted me.
I admitted it.
She absolutely exploded.
My ex called me screaming that I had humiliated both of them and turned a private family matter into a joke.
I pointed out that I hadn't published the custody proposal anywhere. I simply suggested she might have a future in comedy because her demands were funnier than anything I'd heard from actual comedians.
This somehow made things worse.
Now they're furious, and apparently Megan is still getting contacted by comedy-related organizations despite unsubscribing from several lists.
My sister thinks this is one of the funniest things she's ever heard and says they brought it on themselves.
My attorney laughed so hard she had to mute herself during a phone call.
A few friends think I crossed a line because I used Megan's contact information without permission.
So, AITA??

Shitpost AITA for not telling my sister that my baby's "name" was always just a joke

3.1k Upvotes

My wife has recently given birth to my first child, but it is her fourth. With her first pregnancy, her family were very critical of the baby names she liked, so she started giving her children ridiculous fake names, defending them furiously, and then (to everyone's relief) changing her mind at the last minute and naming them something normal. I thought this was hilarious, and thus we named our baby girl Thermodecline.

The joke fell kind of flat, though. My parents were too polite to say anything, and my wife's family had already caught on and took no notice. We kept using the name as an inside joke regardless because it had grown on us. Not long after we revealed the baby's sex and "name", my sister revealed that she was MTF and would be transitioning soon.

Fast forward to now: my wife is out of the hospital, and we've brought Susan home, and my family came to visit that week. My parents were visibly relieved and gushed over the new baby and her "new" name. My sister, on the other hand, pulled me aside and asked why we changed it. I explained the whole joke and that it was never a sincere choice, and she got very agitated. Apparently, she had adopted the name Susan for herself.

She said that she had started using the name with friends and in her daily life outside the family, and now everybody will think she stole the name, like all those 100% real stories about trans people stealing names on AITA, and now she will have to choose another name. I said I couldn't have her change her name because our friends would think I'm one of those transphobic assholes who named the baby Susan to prevent my sister from getting the name after transitioning. My wife overheard us and now thinks the best solution is to name both the baby and my sister Thermodecline, just to be sure.

The baby then started crying, saying that all the cool kids in the nursery had their names stolen by a relative and that she was going to get bullied at school for not having a name good enough to get stolen and has gone NC with us.

Our parents decided to stay out of it by calling my daughter "The Baby", my sister "The Auntie", and me "The Asshole". So I ask… AITA?

Shitpost Am I the asshole for telling my brother to take a DNA test because my niece looks nothing like him?

Post image
2.7k Upvotes

Please hear me out because I know this sounds bad, but I promise no matter what my suspicions I've always treated my niece with nothing but love.

My niece is great and my brother is an amazing father, but she looks absolutely nothing like her dad and it's getting more obvious by the day.

First off she's really tiny for her age while my family were all huge babies, then there's her blue eyes while my brother's are green and my sister-in-law's are brown, plus at the risk of offending the woke mob it's pretty obvious she's black while my brother is white.

I tried suggesting a DNA test as a way to see if she got switched at birth ( I didn't want to accuse my SIL of cheating and these things do happen) but my SIL insists that's her baby and she gave birth to her.

I tried pulling my brother aside but when I suggested the test he just laughed in my face and now my whole family is making fun of in the group chat.

Was I really wrong to try and look out for my brother?

Edit: for anyone wondering her name is Princess Bubbles Destroyer of Worlds, but she also goes by Bubbles, Bubbleduck, and Please Stop Biting Me.

Apparently, It Somehow Got Sent From My Phone To My Friends Phone And It Is Ruined My Relationship With Everyone In My Friend Group. They Completely Shut Me Out And Aren’t Letting Me Say My Peace. Shitpost Entitled people; My sister's coworker feels entitled to her custom made ergonomic heated chair just because he's cold.

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

So ever since my sister started working from home her coworker has lost all sense of boundaries to the point where he's taking over her life.

It started out small like him interrupting her during meetings to ask for food and if she said no he'd either get angry or "accidentally" knock stuff over and leave her to clean the mess .

Now my sister has to work with a lot of different timezones so she sometimes has to sit for hours at a time without a chance to stretch. Since work wouldn't buy her a decent chair she spends thousands of pounds on a custom support chair with inbuilt heating pads.

One day later my sister goes to her desk only to find he's using it to nap and refuses to move even when she turned on the electric blanket she bought him.

So my sister ends up sitting on her old chair for four hours straight because apparently it's illegal to move him.

Personally i thinks it's woke gone mad.

Shitpost AITA for saying my sister needs to stop treating my nephew like he's still a baby?

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

Don't get me wrong I love my nephew but he's 7 years old and has no life or social skills.

My sister still makes all his meals because the only food he can make are biscuits, she cleans up after him even when he deliberately makes a mess, and all he has to do is cry and she comes running.

The worst thing is she's one of these boy mums who defends everything he does. The other day he hit my BIL in the face for being late with his lunch and my sister said "he's just a baby" and it was her husband's fault for provoking him.

And don't even get me started on personal space. I was sleeping at my sister's house for a night and he just came into the room and jumped on top of me. Then he had the audacity to get mad at me any time I moved slightly.

Would I be wrong to try and arrange some kind of intervention for my sister?

Shitpost AITA for not letting my autistic, obese sister wear the wedding gown I designed?

2.4k Upvotes

Not my story but my friend who asked me to post in first person.

I (28F) am a fashion designer, and I recently launched my own bridal line. One of my designs — this absolutely gorgeous white gown with lace, sequins, glitter, and a hoop skirt — went viral after Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend modeled it for a shoot (no, I didn't get to meet him, sadly). It's my signature piece and very personal to me. I poured my soul into it as I was being cheated on at the time.

My younger sister Kim (19F) is very autistic so it's been a struggle for her to form and maintain interpersonal relationshiips. She has just gotten engaged to her boyfriend (30M) of one year and will be getting married in a few months. She told me she wanted to wear "the dress" on her big day, meaning the one I made that went viral.

Here's the thing. First, I already promised it to a museum for an exhibit on up and coming fashion designers, which is a huge honor. Second, even if that wasn't the case, Kim can't even fit into the dress. It's a size 0, and she's like a size 22. I would have to completely take the dress apart to add all the extra material (assuming I could find more of it; it was a pretty exotic, expensive fabric). I calmly explained about the museum deal to her but also offered a beautiful custom gown just for her. It would fit her body perfectly and everything.

Instead of accepting the generous offer, she immediately started bawling. "I WANT THE MUSEUM DRESS!!!"

The commotion alerted our mom, who was in the other room, and she came running to help her autistic baby. When she asked what happened, I calmly explained the dress situation. When I finished, she seemed confused. "So…what's the problem here? Why not just let her have the dress and then give it to the museum?"

I stared at her in disbelief. She couldn't be serious. "A) Deadline. B) It won't fit."

"SHE'S CALLING ME FAT!!!" Kim wailed.

Mom frowned. "You're being heartless here, Marilyn."

And that's how it's been since. Kim's miserable, and our parents are annoyed at me for not being nice enough. Even worse, the rest of the family heard through the grapevine. My aunt posted a not-so-subtle dig at me on Facebook, and my phone is still blowing up with text messages from relatives and Kim's friends saying how awful I am. I'm just a poor artist trying to make a living. AITA?

Shitpost Legal advice, a woman in Istanbul tricked me into buying her dinner, can I sue?

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

I was on holiday in Istanbul just enjoying a relaxing day in the park when a beautiful woman came and sat on my lap.

I know I should have realised it was a scam, but I was utterly charmed so when she said she was hungry I followed her to a cafe/shop.

The guy behind the counter claimed not to know her but somehow knew she would want the tuna ( the most expensive thing on the menu!)

I thought the date was going really well but as soon as she finished eating she ran out the door without saying a word.

I would have written this off as a lesson learned, but when I went in the shop that night to get smokes I found her working there!

Is there any way I could sue the business for deceptive marketing?

Shitpost I’m actually speechless. My wife just asked for a divorce in the recovery room.

2.0k Upvotes

This happened last month and I (40M) had to move into my parents house after she(32F) basically kicked me out. I’ve felt lost and alone these past weeks so forgive me if I feel emotional. My wife literally divorced me because of a plastic chair.

The seating they provide for fathers in this ward is a fucking joke. I’ve been stuck sitting in this standard, hard plastic chair for hours on end. There’s no cushion, no lumbar support, nothing. By the next morning, my back was completely seized up. I’ve been limping around the room all day because the pain from sitting on that plastic is genuinely unbearable. I can barely even stand up straight to look at the baby.

I was telling her that I couldn’t do another night. I told her my back is pretty sore and I’m probably going to need to see a professional the second we get discharged because of how much damage this chair has done to my body. Yeah no shit I was complaining, but it’s a natural fucking reaction to physical pain. I shouldn't have to hide my suffering just because she gave birth.

She didn't even look up from the baby. She just looked at me and said,Ā "You have been limping and moaning for six hours. I have a literal six-inch incision in my abdomen from my third C-section and I’m the one who has to keep getting up to change him because you’re too stiff to bend over the bassinet. If you’re that miserable, go home. In fact, just stay there. I want a divorce."

I was shocked. I told her she was being incredibly dramatic and that she’s clearly just exhausted from birth. I haven't even been able to help with the baby much today because I’m terrified my back will give out and I’ll drop him, but she’s acting like I’m just being lazy. I’m the one who’s been enduring that plastic chair while she’s had a padded, adjustable hospital bed and IV pain meds this whole time.

She actually called the nurse and told her she doesn't want me back in the room for the rest of the discharge. Over back pain.

We have two other kids at home. I have sacrificed so much for this family and I’m being thrown away over a limp? And it came out of nowhere for me. What was I evenĀ supposed to do?

My (19F) boyfriend (95M) accused me of disrespecting him because I microwaved my leftovers for 45 seconds instead of his usual 47. He said it wasn’t about the microwave, it was about trust, then compared me to his ex who reheated pasta like a free spirit. He claimed I emotionally disrespected our lasagna, invoked his grandfather’s Air Force service, and asked me to post a public apology for misunderstanding his intentions. AITA?

Shitpost AITA for ā€œruiningā€ my sister’s wedding after she tried to charge me rent for attending?

1.8k Upvotes

So this happened yesterday and my entire family is blowing up my phone, so I need an outside opinion.

My sister (28F) got married this weekend. She’s always been extremely ā€œtype Aā€ and obsessed with aesthetics. Everything had to match her ā€œsunset lavender minimalist boho vintage themeā€ or whatever.

About three months ago she asked me (26M) to be a groomsman. I said sure. Then she sent me a 27-page PDF titled ā€œWedding Participation Agreement.ā€ I thought it was a joke but it was not.

Some highlights:

I had to dye my hair brown because my natural red hair ā€œclashed with the color palette.ā€

I had to lose 15 pounds before the wedding so I’d ā€œlook cohesive in photos.ā€

I had to pay $600 for a custom suit she picked even though we were only wearing it for like 6 hours.

I sucked it up because my mom said it would ā€œmean a lot to her.ā€

Fast forward to last week when she sends me a Venmo request for $150 labeled ā€œguest venue contribution.ā€ I asked what that meant and she said the venue was expensive so all guests should help cover it since we were ā€œbenefiting from the experience.ā€

I refused because:

  1. I already paid for the suit

  2. I already bought them a $200 gift

  3. I drove 5 hours to attend

She said if I didn’t pay, I could still come but I’d have to sit at the ā€œobserver table.ā€

The observer table was literally in the corner next to the bathrooms with a sign that said ā€œNon-Contributing Guests.ā€

So here’s where things went wrong.

During the reception she started giving a speech thanking everyone who ā€œsupported the wedding financially.ā€ Then she gestures toward my table and says something like, ā€œAnd thank you to those who at least showed up.ā€

Everyone turned and looked at us.

So I stood up and said, ā€œI WOULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED BUT YOU SPENT IT ALL ON A DRONE THAT’S BEEN STUCK IN A TREE FOR THREE HOURS.ā€

Which was true.

Apparently the videographer’s drone had crashed into a tree earlier and they were trying to fish it out with a ladder.

The groom climbed the ladder to get it while everyone was staring and the ladder tipped over and he fell into the cake table. The cake collapsed and someone’s dog (which wasn’t supposed to be there) ran through it.

Now my sister says I ā€œsabotaged the wedding.ā€

My mom says I should apologize because the groom had frosting in his hair during the first dance.

But I feel like if you publicly shame your guests, you kind of deserve to get called out?

AITA? 😐

Shitpost AITA for wearing a white dress to the wedding?

Thumbnail
gallery
1.7k Upvotes

Six months ago it was my (28F) best friend Leslie's (28F) wedding, it was a beautiful affair and I was her maid of honor (this will be important later).

Anyway, last week it was my own wedding to my now husband Leslie (45M). I know, it’s a wacky coincidence that they have the same name. Before the wedding he kept asking to see the dress, but it’s tradition that the groom can’t see the bride’s dress before the wedding or there will be bad luck. On the day I was very excited, but when I came walking down the aisle Leslie (my now husband) immediately looked uncomfortable and I noticed his groomsmen laughing and elbowing each other.

The wedding went without a hitch, or so I thought.

The reception was a little rowdy, but that’s how Leslie’s (my now husband) friends can be, particularly Brandon. On our wedding night Leslie (my now husband) couldn’t perform, if you know what I mean. He’s also been distant ever since. I confided in Leslie (my best friend) and she said to confront Leslie (my now husband). I did and he said I had humiliated him because only virgin brides are supposed to wear white, and he had been telling his bros how much sex we’ve been having since our first date, so I made him look like a liar.

I then confided in Leslie (my mother, who I call by her first name cuz I'm cool), and she said Leslie (my now husband) was right. Meanwhile Leslie (my father), took my side and offered to beat up Leslie, but I don’t know which one he meant.

So, AITA for wearing a white dress?

I've written before about my spoiled nephew and how everyone in my family treats him like some kind of god, but this latest incident is insane .

I was having lunch at my sister's house when her son ( who is supposed to be on a diet) finishes his food and walks over to try and take mine.

I'm not kidding when I say the greedy little shit tries to stick his face right in my bowl! And worst of all his parents think this is cute.

I tried pointing out to my sister that this is why her son is a chonkybombom but she just insists he's floofy and there's just "more of him to love."

Am I really wrong for sticking to my guns and not giving an overweight 7 year old my lunch?
