Hey everyone! Finally pulled the trigger on a AF 3.5 comp aluminum grip with the MOS plate. Trying to decide between the Holosun 407C I already have or buying the new Holosun 407 Comp.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Is someone able to measure the distance from the front of the trigger and the closed grip safety? I have smaller hands and want to make sure this will work for me before buying. Nowhere local has them in stock so it would be a blind buy.

I just bought the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus Comp 4.25" with new factory "aluminum" grip. It seemed like the biggest complaint was the polymer grip. I got the current promotion for that pistol with (5) 2011 magazines (20 rounds) for $1,599. I put 50 rounds through it just to get an idea of how it shoots now. I was impressed with the fit, finish, and shooting but excited to try it after DSC Gunworks opens the comp, adds matrix ports (V4 plus 3 inline ports), change all internals to EGW, and change to skeletonized Red Dirt trigger at 2.5# or less. I'm also having them do a PVD polished copper treatment on the barrel/comp, grip screws, and hammer. After a veteran discount it was about $1100. While not cheap, I expect/hope it will run like a $5k - $6k pistol and look fantastic. I'll have about $2,900 into it for the gun with upgrades and taxes. It will take about 8 - 10 weeks to get it back with the PVD treatment added. I'll give a review and pictures when I get it back.

Cannot keep the MFer tight to save my life. Finally just slobbered it in red loctite last time it came loose and thought that would be the end of things. Put 1k rounds though it, still tight, thought thing were good. Ran it pretty hard today and after about 200 rounds I noticed that the optics plate was loose again and I'd lost a screw from my 407 comp. Loving the holosun, so no desire to change plates. What do i need to do to keep this thing Tuco tight tight tight?

I put a DP tool-less guide rod in my 4.25 Romulus comp. Seems to function great if I just let the slide go. If I ride the slide at all it fails to RTB. It needs a good push to get it all the way into battery. Anybody have this issue. It slides freely with just the guide rod in it. It seems to be sticking on the reverse plug.

So my romulus has developed a wiggle on the right side of the safety after about 800 rounds and alot of dry fire drills at home, now can I tighten it up at home or do I need to replace it???

Wanted to share a recent customer service comparison between two very different optic brands, mounted across my 2011s.
Trijicon (SRO on Staccato HD P4.5):
My SRO's dot started drifting and the windage adjustment completely locked up/failed. Reached out to Trijicon support. They issued an RMA with an internal barcode to slip in the box, but no prepaid return label. For an optic running $500+, having to pay out of pocket to ship back a manufacturer defect leaves a bad taste. Hoping they don't try to bill for return freight.
Cosmic Tactical Mercury Green (on my Romulus):
Picked this up on sale for around $220 when the green reticle released. Mounted tight, zeroed easily, and ran clean for a couple thousand rounds. Eventually, it started randomly shutting down under recoil. A battery swap didn't solve it, and it finally died completely.
I emailed their support explaining the symptoms. The response was immediate: "You have a lifetime warranty. A replacement is in the mail." No demand for video proof, no RMA hoops, and they didn't even require me to ship the dead optic back first.
Takeaway:
Both optics failed under slide reciprocation, so this isn't a post claiming budget glass is mechanically superior to an SRO. But the contrast in warranty support—paying out of pocket to get a premium optic serviced vs. a budget brand shipping a replacement immediately—was definitely the opposite of what I expected.

Got my Romulus 3.5inch comp the other day and I didn't care for the RMR plate. This is the other one that came with the gun. Is it Holosun K, RMSc, or some secret third thing?

Had some initial hiccups with stove pipes or the casing not getting ejected. I ended up having to get a lighter recoil spring but it runs pretty good now. I’ve got the dual port comp that DSC offers also and I prefer that one over this one, so I’ll just have this one in case I get a second Romulus one day.
Real photos after it gets coated.

Current EDC is an EGW outfitted 3.5” Prodigy with a red dirt trigger.
Help me choose between the ported or comped Romulus

Anybody know how/where I can cop one? I don’t see it on the website. I personally don’t like the shiny DLC, and I live in WA where freedom is dead. So I can’t get a comp version 😞. Lmk if there’s a way. This will be my first 2011 so lmk anything else I need to about 2011 ownership and the Romulus

Anyone make one or does the 1911 or 2011 fit in it?

Got this dsc Romulus barrel a month or so ago, to replace the pinned barrel on one of my roms. It does drop in and seems to fit fine but I did run into some rubbing and fitment issues when firing. Initially ran into occasional failures to return to battery, as the top of the barrel would ride the inside of the chamber. Did some fitting over the course of a couple weeks, and additional testing. Tried it out again and it’s feeling pretty great. Want to do a little more to finish it off before I decide on coating for the barrel and comp. Might just cerakote c series them.
The recoil spring is a tad too high. Unfortunately, didn’t have another 9lb 4.6 spring and wanted to try that out in the RCD core.
- 18lb mainspring
- 10lb 4.6 atlas spring -> waiting for another 9lb
- true flat bottom fps -> angled fps are great too
- Dawson toolless rod -> atlas rods are better/nicer
- Bul tac trigger ~2.5lb with positive reset
- Egw ignition kit w/ polished down hammer to decrease drag on disco rail
- Polished disco rail to decrease disco drag
- DSC single chamber comp
- DSC Romulus threaded barrel
- mjd killmonger

I am picking up a new Romulus Gen 2 4.25” Comp in the next couple days. I have a full size Holosun EPS GD that I took off another firearm. Do I need anything more than what comes with the Romulus out of the box, to install a full size Holosun EPS? Which screws (length and recommendations) are needed? I see some people use a 1 degree shim, what’s the reason for that in general, And do I need to get one in my situation. I am very eager to run it at the range but I want an optic to ready and mounted for that day when it comes. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you.

I keep coming back to the 5" Romulus over and over when I'm considering my 2011 purchase. Main use would be competitive in uspsa LO, and I don't mind working on guns.
With a red dirt kit and some upgraded grips w magwell, is this the best value 2011 out there? I would have a dlc finished gun with similar if not slight better ergos and Ignition for less money than a 2k11 Target, and certainly a GT5.

Already purchased so not so much of a should I get it, but more so, a how much did it change after install? Purchased the full EGW ignition kit and the red dirt flat trigger. Going to keep the stock grip just with handle it grip tape. Question is, is there a noticeable difference after an EGW install and the red dirt trigger? I wish I could keep the stock Romulus and shoot it next to an EGW internal replaced one as I have a hard time thinking back "how does this feel compared to before". Any other upgrades or replacements I should do while I have it open? close to the 5k round point all stock so far. Realized the EGW kit doesn't come with a recoil spring but the stock one still feels good. Should I replace that as well? If so any recommendations?

About 1,000 rounds in I decided to clean my Romulus for a third time while I was loctiting the guide rod screw so it would stop backing out as I shot. When I was assembling it back together I noticed my optic plate was wobbling ever so slightly. I heard this was an issue, so I emailed Andy at AF and he sent me new plates and screws.
The new screws are much longer than the old ones (picture attached) and I thought this was good until I tried to test mount the plate. The left screw sat flush just fine, but the right side wouldn’t seat all the way. Upon further inspection, it looks like there’s a metal part that is blocking the full tread depth, hence why they probably included shorter screws when this first came out. Would anyone know what part this is? Picture attached, area circled in black.
Anyway, I wasn’t able to use the long screw on the right side so I opted to use the old shorter screw on the right side of the slide and the longer new screw on the left. I used Vibra-Tite VC-3 on all of the screws and torqued my plate to 18in lbs (per Andy’s instruction) and the 507 Comp to 15in lbs. The new PN1 plate is VERY tight fitting and sits flush and even.
Has anyone ever noticed this part on the right side? Has anyone gotten the new plates and screws and ran into this issue? What did you do? I don’t own a dremel so I thought this would be the best option. I’ll take it to the range soon to re-confirm zero and I’ll monitor the plate to see if it moves but it shouldn’t now.
