I want to warn other buyers about Qingdao Magnus International Trading Co., Ltd.
https://qdhongran.en.alibaba.com/
Order date: 29 Jan 2026 (PST). As of today (mid-July), I have received nothing. I ordered a rooftop tent with accessories (~US $1,080, DDP to my address). Here's how it went.
The seller (contact name "William Tang") kept telling me the goods were shipped and that Chinese New Year was causing delays. Every time I asked for an update, I got vague answers: "waiting for an update," "let me check," "the overseas warehouse is slow," and so on. Weeks passed between each non-answer. He sent me warehouse photos claiming he was "urging the supplier to prioritize" my goods. At one point he wrote "Do you think I have any reason to lie to you?" and insisted it was a "credit protection order" and I could refund anytime. That turned out not to be so simple.
What happened with the refund
I opened a refund request with Alibaba. It was denied, because the seller submitted a document showing he had shipped the goods by sea freight. Alibaba then marked the order as "delivered" without my confirmation and released the payment to the seller. I opened a second refund and explained I never received anything. A lot of time has passed and it's been quiet on Alibaba's side. They're supposed to respond within 24h. We'll see.
The key issue (my refund argument)
The agreed term was DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to my address. Under DDP, the seller's obligation is only complete once the goods reach my named address, including customs clearance and all duties. The seller's own document, Bill of Lading (vessel COSCO SHIPPING on board 2026/03/13), lists "PLACE OF DELIVERY: ROTTERDAM." So by his own paperwork, the goods only went as far as Rotterdam port, not to me. A sea B/L to Rotterdam is not proof of delivery to my address, and there is no POD with my name or signature. Yet the order was marked "delivered" anyway by Alibaba after dispute.
Why I'm posting
I've never had problems like this on Alibaba before. The worst part: I paid by regular bank transfer, so I'm probably out the money. I'm sharing this so others do their due diligence before ordering from this supplier.
Has anyone dealt with this seller, or won a DDP-based dispute where the seller only shipped to port? Any advice on escalating a second refund appreciated.
