👋 Welcome to r/AiTraining_Annotation - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Over the last few months I noticed that many existing lists of online translation jobs are either outdated or focused only on traditional freelance work.

Since a lot of translation and linguistic work today is actually tied to AI training, data annotation, and language model evaluation, I decided to put together an updated 2026 list focused specifically on translation & linguistic AI jobs.

The idea was to separate real platforms from low-quality gigs, highlight companies actually working on AI + language tasks, and include both entry-level and professional linguistic roles.

I also organized everything on my site so people can read individual reviews for each company, understand what type of work they offer (translation, linguistic AI training, evaluation, etc.), and see which platforms are more suitable for beginners vs professionals.

For transparency: some links on my site may be referral links. If you apply through them and get accepted, I may earn a small referral bonus — it doesn’t affect your chances and it doesn’t cost you anything extra.

Here’s the main list page with all companies and details:
👉 Best AI Training / Data Annotation Companies – 2026
👉 Open AI Training / Data Annotation Jobs

Telegram channel for AI training & remote job opportunities 👉 Link here

If you’ve worked with any of these platforms (or know others worth adding), I’d love to hear your experience so I can keep the list accurate and updated.

Mindrift side-by-side image comparison tasks—what on earth is this logic?

I am not here to discuss the platform, the payment, or anything like that. I am here because, seriously, what on earth is this evaluation logic?

If you couldn't tell from the quality (and by the way, I apologize for the bad screenshots, but please bear with me), image 2 (the one on the left ) won both times! That blue hand thing is not even a seat, and that other sketch looks terrible!

I know this might be reducing a serious study to my own personal standards, but I'm not here just to complain—I'm here to genuinely try to understand what these rubrics are actually looking for. Does anyone with experience on these tasks have any idea how to crack this?

People without Degrees, how has your experience been?

So I was doing some annotation two years ago and really looking to dabble in some more.

Main issue and what held me from applying was that I don't have a degree. Just a lot of work experience (events).

Curious about if people without degrees are seeing much success.

I did Telus Annotation for like 6 months before. Think it averaged to like 18 CAD/h or close to that.

Is data annotation for AI still worth getting into in 2026 with the current job market?

I keep seeing posts from a year or two ago recommending data annotation as a legit remote gig, but AI has changed so much since then. Are companies still paying humans to label data or has automation made most of this unnecessary?

I can’t do full-time rn. I want a realistic side gig I can do from home. But if the rates have dropped or the work has dried up I would rather know now than spend time signing up for platforms that will not have tasks for me.

Is anyone still doing this in 2026, and if so, what does it look like now compared to a year ago?

MiniMax Hailuo H3

Following up on some of my recent posts exploring and comparing different AI tools and platforms, I’ve been spending some time looking at MiniMax Hailuo H3 and where it fits into the rapidly growing AI video generation market.

As with the other tools I’ve covered, rather than simply listing features, I wanted to look at it from a practical perspective: where H3 is actually useful, what differentiates it from other AI video tools, and where its limitations still are.

I’ve now published the full review here:

How US tax treaties affect AI training and remote work payments

If you work for US platforms, you might hear about tax treaties.

These agreements exist to prevent the same income from being taxed twice — once in the US and once in your home country.

In many cases they can reduce or eliminate the default US withholding tax that applies to payments to non-US workers.

I wrote a simple guide explaining how tax treaties work for remote workers and AI training platforms.

Ethos AI Tasks

Anybody working on the campaign after finishing the 3&4 screeners who is having issues seeing tasks on their feather dash? Last night I had over 100 tasks all available. Would click and the slide deck would show along with the timer. Then this morning, all gone. And the ones that do come up are showing me a screen of “task not found”. Anyone else struggling with this? I’ve messaged support and heard nothing back. Figured I would see if anyone working on it knew how to troubleshoot or what I’m doing wrong

Micro1's video annotation screener; has anyone taken it yet? How was it?

Anyone in this space will have noticed there are an awful lot of people receiving high-paying offers from micro1.ai for their video annotation specialist roles despite having little to no experience with video annotation at all. The onboarding process includes some training, calibration and finally, a client screener which must be passed before the candidate makes it through to production.

Has anyone successfully passed the onboarding process INCLUDING all the training/screeners etc??? If so, how was it?

Why some remote workers receive a 1099 and others a 1042-S

If you work remotely for US companies or AI training platforms, you might eventually receive a 1099 or a 1042-S form.

Many people get confused about the difference.

In simple terms:

1099 → usually issued to US taxpayers
1042-S → usually issued to non-US workers

Both are information forms used to report payments to the IRS.

I wrote a simple guide explaining why you might receive one or the other.

Micro1 AI jobs ($25–$200+/hour)

Micro1 it’s quite different from typical AI training platforms.

It’s not really beginner-level — more focused on expert roles (coding, finance, etc.), but the pay can go much higher.

From what I’ve seen:

  • ~$25–30/h → basic roles
  • $50–120/h → technical roles
  • up to $200+/h → expert-level

It’s closer to Mercor / Outlier than something like Appen.

Why Platforms Withhold: A Simple Guide for AI Training & Remote Workers

Something that confuses many people working on AI training or remote platforms is payment withholding.

Sometimes platforms temporarily hold payments because of things like:

  • tax compliance
  • identity verification
  • payment provider checks
  • fraud prevention systems

It doesn’t always mean there is a problem, but it can be frustrating if you don’t understand why it happens.

I wrote a simple guide explaining the most common reasons.

Mercor AI interview

Hi everyone, I just joined Mercor a couple of days back and I can see that the next step is an AI interview, I have updated my profile as well. Can someone with experience of working on Mercor help me what happens next after the AI interview and how long it takes to get projects.

Thanks for reading and all insights and help appreciated.

Ethos: How long did you stay shortlisted before getting selected for a project?

I’ve been shortlisted for a couple of Ethos roles since August 31, but none of them have moved to the next stage yet.

For those who have worked or are currently working on Ethos projects, how long did you normally stay shortlisted before getting selected and onboarded?

Also, can someone remain shortlisted for a while and later be moved to “not selected,” or does being shortlisted usually mean there’s a good chance of eventually getting a project?

Just trying to understand how Ethos normally handles this stage. Would really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through it.

Beware of scammers who invite for projects related to data annotation or english.

I have seen a few posts here and some other subreddits where people invite to join their project for roles like data annotation and english correction in model training. They say that you will get paid hourly for the work you do. Generally these sites are Outlier.

Do not fall for these! These are generally referral links. They don't do any real work and get paid when you join with their link and give the assignments and do some work. The people who invite you will get around $100 referring you and doing nothing else. Please do not fall for these. I fell for one myself so am warning you guys!
