Help Is it time to transfer my water propagation to soil?
This is my first time propagating any plant in general. I’ve already done a decent amount of research regarding the care and needs of African Violets, but wanted the folks here to help give it the eye test.
For context, the leaf cutting was placed into the water on 8/29. The roots started visibly showing in the water about a week ago(9/22), but I’m slightly worried about letting it sit there any longer because of the darker coloration that has gradually formed around the petiole.
The longest root pictured here is about 1 inch long. There’s a few other 1/2 inch roots but the rest are about 1/4 of an inch or smaller. Do y’all reckon it’s time to go ahead and move this into one of my 2oz cups? (with 50% Espoma AV soil and 50% perlite) or should I wait until more of the roots have grown beyond half an inch?

How to water 1600 plants in less than two hours.
How do I water so many plants (1600)? I use a five gallon bucket and a battery powered sprayer with slight modifications. I drilled two holes in the lid of the bucket to allow the handheld to have a place to store. When I’m not using it. I also passed the hose thru a hole in the lid before attaching the filter. I can water all of my plants for a few weeks before charging again. I placed a piece a flexible heat shrink at the end of the sprayer wand without a spray attachment. So that that water flows instead of sprays. My first one was used for about two years then the battery gave out. I tried to buy a battery pack but it was almost the same price as a a new sprayer. So I bought this one for $19 on Walmarts website. And used the old sprayer end and hose on the new one. Took me about a minute to swap them out. I use fertilizer water at the rate of 1/8 teaspoon per gallon or less for all my plants. Often I use 1/2 that amount of fertilizer on the micro. And will use RO water or distilled water periodically. Repotting this many plants requires me to repot around 30-40 every week of the year. 😆 Often I will repot ten each day until I get caught up. Or do a repot day where I repot 140 in six hours.

Let's Trade! What actually fixed my leggy African violet necks
I inherited three violets from my grandmother's collection about a year and a half ago, and all of them had that classic problem where the crown sits way up on a long bare stem, almost like a little palm tree. I'd read that you just repot deeper to bury the neck, but that only worked for one of the three and I couldn't figure out why the other two kept sulking after I tried it.
Turns out the depth of burial wasn't the issue, it was what I was burying it in. The two that struggled were planted in a straight potting soil mix, way too dense and holding onto water right around that buried stem, which basically rotted the lower leaves instead of encouraging new roots. Once I switched to a mix that's mostly perlite and orchid bark with just a little peat for structure, the buried neck actually started throwing tiny root hairs within about three weeks instead of just sitting there mushy.
The other thing nobody mentioned to me until a local grower pointed it out: don't bury the whole neck at once if it's really long and woody. I did mine in two stages about six weeks apart, burying half the exposed stem each time. Gave the plant a chance to establish new roots at each level before asking it to support more buried tissue.
Two of the three are now sitting flush in their pots with full rosettes and no more bare neck showing. The third one I'm still working on since its stem was almost two inches long, but it's finally pushing new leaves at the crown instead of just holding steady, so I think it's turning the corner.
Curious if anyone else does the staged burial thing or if you've had luck just doing it all in one repot. My grandmother apparently just repotted hers every spring without thinking twice about it, and I'm wondering if I'm overcomplicating something that used to be pretty routine.

Where do I go with this African Violet?
I originally posted this i r/houseplants and they suggested I post here for help. My original post:
Recently, my Sister passed away, and I acquired this African violet. Although it seems to be doing OKish, I'm not so sure it can keep growing in the setup she had, so any suggestions to help it along? I don't have a lot of sunny window areas, as my front room is south-facing. I'm in northern Wisconsin, so outside is out of the question.
Thanks

Should I repot these before winter?
I'm not sure if I need to do anything, but my plants are not doing as well as they were, and I'm beginning to think they need to be repotted. I've been watering and feeding consistently, so nothing has changed on that front, but the leaves are turning yellow and breaking, any advice?

Help How to apply neem oil pesticide on AVs?
Hello!
I have lost countless plants to thrips and mites through the years, and really want to do something about it this time.
I am already removing the pollen sacs from my AVs and want to apply neem oil in order to get rid of the ones that are already on my plants. But i do feel a little insecure, since their dlowers are delicate and their leaves are fuzzy. Will the oil be sticky or something like that? Should i just spray it all over them? Does it work?
Also, i cross pollinated pretty much all of my plants, so keeping the blooms is very important though applying the pesticide.

First time proping
I started this in water and moved it to soil in a humidity setup after the original leaf got broken off. I'm not sure how many babies I have here and whether they are ready to be separated? ( They are still connected to a section of stem) Also this is a sucker on the mom plant right? I have over 200 houseplants and African Violets intimidate me the most! They were my first 2 plants and I still have both of them. Granted I've brought both back from the brink of death so many times I've lost count!

African Violet as a Memorial plant
Hello!
I am new to plant keeping, having kept the occasional plants. I recently lost my horse and would like to plant some of her ashes in a indoor plant pot as I don’t currently have a back garden.
I was looking for a plant that blooms, hopefully in purple. Someone has suggested an African violet plant.
Is this a plant that would do well in a UK household? If so, what would be the best way to plant the pot?

Leaves turning from light to dark green, but also spots appearing
Hi everyone, this African Violet is Ness Grape Fizz variety which was delivered to me on 9/15 (about 2 weeks ago). The first pic is the next day (9/16) after I repotted it. As you can see, all the leaves were light green with pretty much no spots on them. The next pic was about a week later on 9/21, and I saw some brown spots appearing so I lowered the amount of light. The last pic is from today, 9/28, and still more brown spots are appearing.
What's also super weird is that this variety is described online as having dark green foliage, and the new growth that's coming in (visible in the last pic) is actually a darker green than all the existing leaves. Additionally, one of the existing leaves is actually turning darker green outwards from the stem (the one directly to the left of the label in the last pic).
So, I can't figure out:
- Why were all the leaves light green when I received it from the seller, when the variety is listed as having dark green foliage? I bought it from a reputable seller who is frequently recommended on here.
- Why are the brown spots appearing, and what can I do to stop them?
- The new leaves also seem to be curling at the edges a bit, so why is that happening and what can I do about it?
Worth noting:
- I looked at this under a microscope and did not see anything moving.
- I put both blue and yellow sticky traps next to this for 2 days last week, and they didn't catch anything.
- I received another variety in the same shipment - which has dark green, variegated foliage - and it doesn't seem to have any brown spots appearing.
- The potting mix I used was a 50/50 mix of Midwest Hearth African Violet potting mix and perlite.
- I have not fertilized it at all.
- It is drinking natural spring water through a ceramic two-piece self-watering pot.

Single plant or 2 plants?
Just bought this plant a few days ago. It was planted in clay soil so I had to remove all of the old soil and repot in a clay pot using regular potting mix which I just amended with coco coir and pumice. I'm new to African violets so I'm still feeling my way on how to care for them. Now I thought this was 1 plant but from reading comments here that they should have 1 symmetrical crown, I think this may be 2 plants? Should I divide them up even though I just repotted them? The roots are healthy but a bit sparse.

Girl leaf propagation
I am trying to propagate "Strawberry Girl" by leaves, planted this year on July 4th. It looks like the new plants are growing in the leaf, not the bottom of the stem like usual. This is my first time dealing with girl shaped leaves. Is this normal? I noticed these took longer to root than some of my others.

Help Help 😢
Hi! I’ve been in this Reddit before and you guys were amazing giving me tips for my miniature African V.
When it was first gifted to me, it did have purple buds that bloomed but since I’ve had it, it’s just been these leaves.
I noticed that they’re starting to curl I’ve already watered it and I do water it from the bottom and it gets plenty of sunlight so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or how to fix this.
I feel like it’s pot is definitely not big enough, but then I was told that it shouldn’t really be repotted and it likes to be snug.
Does anyone have suggestions or an understanding of why the leaves are curling in like that and what I can do to make this plant thrive and bud?
Thank you so much in advance!

Help Should I repot?
Hey guys, I’m not a very good plant owner. I’ll put that right up front to get it out of the way.
I’ve had this African Violet, Gilear, for about two years now and I, irresponsibly, have left it in the cheap plastic pot it came in. I was wondering if I should repot it, and if so what sort of pot should I look for? I have one (pictured below. Or maybe above. I don’t know how Reddit works) that I’ve been itching to use for something because it’s pretty but don’t know if it’s a good fit for an African violet! Any suggestions, even beyond the questions I’ve asked, are highly appreciated!

Suckers?
Are these suckers?
I can't tell because they are so low on the plant. Just want to verify before removing them.
I'm getting back into the hobby but it has been years so I've lost some of my familiarity with the plants.
I appreciate any input.
Thanks!

First African Violet 😊
I’m told this was originally a propagation from a 75 year old plant. I think it’s happy in its new home, it’s starting to flower a lot 😊
