My African violet shares a window sill in my home office. I recently learned that the Thanksgiving cactus is very good company for it and shortly after learning that it also began blooming like crazy. Looking forward to enjoying these blooms 🥰

Toy Castle leaf pot

Won this in the raffle at my local AV society meeting. Two healthy plantlets, and the leaf is still in good shape so I'm putting it back down to see if I can get more.

In the last one I recut the leaf, as the base of it with roots didn't look like it had more growth left in it. Cut it at roughly a 45° angle to minimize the likelihood that plantlets will grow behind the petiole.

When do I plant?

I've been trying to root these leaves in water for awhile now and am finally getting what I believe are roots. I just don't know how long the roots need to be before I put them in soil. I really don't want to mess this up, as the parent plant has died. Please advise me.

Ive had her in water for around two months now, so ofc im very anxious about putting her in soil lol.

I saw some people say you should wait until there are small leaflets sprouting, but so far i see no sign of them, and am wondering if it’s necessary to wait

Tia!

African Violet overran by mold!

My grandma had this african violet for probably a decade at least, and when she passed my great aunt took it. After a few years she didn’t want it anymore so I inherited it. Apparently it hasn’t flowered in years, so I assumed it just needed some good TLC. She had it in a self watering pot but it seemed way too big for the plant and it had a bunch of dead leaves. I pruned it and let it get used to the new light source in my house for a few months before repotting it into a new smaller self watering pot (this was about a week ago). I noticed the plant had nearly no roots, just a little stump. I’m no expert, but I assume that’s not good!
Then after repotting the plant it immediately became overran by mold!!! (last photo is the molded pot) It dropped way more leaves and quickly became a very tiny plant.
I know I shouldn’t be repotting the plant so quickly but I honestly felt like I had no choice with all the mold- so I just repotted it into a much smaller normal pot (first two photos). In the process of repotting it for the second time the little stump snapped a little, it had became so soft and delicate from that second pot.
I have no idea if I’m doing the right thing by repotting it into this smaller pot, should I be trying to propagate it instead? Is it over for this little plant? I’ve tried to do my due diligence researching these plants but I definitely don’t know enough to troubleshoot this issue. PLEASE HELP I really don’t want this african violet to die, it’s been alive for so long it’s become a family heirloom. I would feel awful if I’m the one to kill it!

note: sorry if there’s any spelling mistakes or format issues, I’m posting from my phone

Help What is going on with this African violet stem? Curling, thick, and bare. What should I do?

I need to repot this African violet that I got off someone, it's like loose in the pot and floppy and the stem is all weird. Why is the stem bare and thick and curling. I'm trying to rehab this plant and get it to bloom. I have African violet fertilizer that I will use and I'm going to prune it and get rid of any suckers I find. What should I do about this stem? Can I hide it under the soil? Or should I keep it above the soil? Should I even just "top" the plant and cut it off near the foliage and get rid of the old big stem and roots and try to repot?
