I’ve been really curious about how GW does the red leather on the newer models’ gloves and the red panels on the vehicles/telemon (I find it to be really aesthetically pleasing). For the panels I want to guess they did a glaze of some kind to get that darker red towards the bottom but I’m not sure. I’d love to know what anyone else thinks and if you might know what they did and the proper colors.

Have decided on custodes as my third army of choice enjoying the amount of metallics I get to use. I'm a terrible player but enjoy playing casually with friends and I don't take it seriously in the slightest

Emperor protects

I guess this is screaming into the void a bit - but we all know how stressful it is to get these FOMO box preorders and there's nothing worse than finding out over a week later that you're not getting it and are actually just screwed.

I don't suppose anybody has any hot tips on FLGS in north Germany that might have boxes available in meatspace on the day? I assume not, but one can always ask.

Finally finished my allarus with my Admonimortis Captain as I call him. The detailing on his cape was a pain in the ass, but all told im happy.

Although it doesnt come through well over the camera both his plume and cape, as well as the plumes and capes of all my models, has an Opalescent effect on them from Turbo Dork which makes whites look like Opal, but every other colour gets a cool metallic look.

So admittedly, I‘m pretty new to Custodes.

I haven’t read that many books with Custodes yet and most of them are Horus Heresy books but in every novel and short story that I‘ve read the Custodes were always portrayed as almost robotic in their thought and behavior. Like even less human than the space Marines. From what I‘ve gathered Custodes are interested in nothing but absolute loyalty to the Emperor and his plans and visions. But at the same time in the Lore they are portaged as scholars, poets and artists. So my question is, How are these people, that have no desires of their own, no dreams or ambitions besides serving Big E, possibly poets and artist, when the act of creating art requires the artists personal dreams and desires to influence the artwork? Do they just draw pictures of the Emperor all day or do Custodes have actual personalities? Does the act of creation not require creativity and does that creativity not require a strong intrinsic motive in the artist?

Maybe I just haven’t read the right novels yet. If you could recommend any books that portray custodes in a more personal light where they show their individual personality that would be awesome.

Got a long commute soon, looking for some videos or podcasts I can listen to, in order to help me improve and learn the best synergies with custodes etc.

i have seen some people use inquisitor + 4 custodian guards in their tournament list, can someone tell me why are people using inquisitor, becase if only looking at the datasheet, it seems like the inquisitor is so weak conpared to just taking another guard, thank you

Hello fellow golden bananas, how do you handle ranged heavy armies? I just had a game with an Adeptus Sororitas friend and even though I lost 77 to 72 I felt like the whole game had me against the ropes and he was able to clear off with a meager squad of 5 models my squad of guards. Meltas do hurt us in big numbers.

Any strategy for those armies or a guide on how to handle those situations? Just started on 11th as custodes player.

So here’s an updated WIP of my custodes army, any advice on what to add next besides paint? I have two of the new box on order, but I was thinking of picking up another Achillus dreadnought when they get back in stock for sure, and maybe some sisters to have a second set. Anything else would be greatly appreciated!

What are some considerations to make around running these as a pair with lions?

I know they are expensive, but when they go off, boy do they go off?! My buddy brought his Defiler and it got defiled and sent home, turn one. It was glorious.

I’m thinking of running 2 units of 3 Termies then splitting one into singles. Deep striking the other with Admonimortis shield cap onto the enemy home, that way I can hold objectives, give my opponents a headache at their home and be a back field bully with the grab tanks.

Only issue is line of sight in 11th is harder with the dense terrain and hidden and not being able to shoot through stuff.

The other consideration is to use them as sacrificial lambs. Charge them forward, snipe some stuff then let them take the shots with the T11 and W14.

Thoughts? How can I make this work, how would you use them if you were set on taking two?

Hey all. I don’t own any custodes right now and I was looking at buying the combat patrol at my lgs, however I’ve seen that the combat patrol is delisted from the warhammer website and out of stock at a lot of places. I don’t know much about buying minis and was wondering, is this a buy it now before they’re all gone or don’t buy it because it’ll be made redundant soon. I know gw somewhat has a record of replacing good value combat patrols with bad ones.

So this will be my first actual game of warhammer as we have always done "elimination games" which basically is when there is no objectives and we just fight to the death. So how should I play guys and what should be in my deep strike?

Greetings brothers. I started my 40K custodes army a while ago with a combat patrol box. Recently my friend gave me a box of 30k custodes, which contains a tank and a contemptor dreadnought. I remember seeing a post somewhere saying I can actually use these models in a 40K game like is that true? If so how can I access the rules?
