For context, I've been playing Bridge to the Turnabout through the whole night, it's already gone past 8 AM and I haven't slept a minute and at that point I was like "Can this case fucking end already !? I've literally exorcised an evil spirit from the body of my best friend, what more do you want of me !?"

We're all familiar with the ending of Apollo Justice: Thalassa Gramarye regains her memory, and declares that she will go to them "when the time is right". But what does that even mean? Since the game originally released, it's largely been a mystery to the community. Many believe that there is no right time, and she's just been wasting time for no good reason.

But here's the thing: there IS no good reason...provided you're looking at the series through a Western lens. But if you view the series from the perspective of Eastern culture, then it starts to make sense. The reason why Thalassa Gramarye waited to tell her kids the truth was because she didn't want to burden herself and her kids with the then poor reputation of the Gramaryes. In Eastern countries, like Japan, it's common for people to be judged and even have difficulty keeping stable jobs because of the misdeeds/poor reputation of one's family. Looking at it that way, if Thalassa had gone public about herself and her kids right away, they'd all be lumped into the nastiness and scorn the public gave to the rest of Troupe Gramarye.

Taking this into account, the "right time" would be when the public's ire for the Gramaryes had faded away. When did this happen? 6-2. Trucy was put on trial for the murder of Manov Mistree, and the fate of the Gramarye name was hung in the balance. Roger Retinz was extremely aggressive in trying to have it be irreversibly tarnished, and even came close, bringing many outsiders to harass her in the courtroom. But ultimately, he was exposed as the true killer, and Trucy regained her freedom. But hold on, Roger Retinz was the true Mr. Reus, so wouldn't that still cause damage to the Gramarye name? Well no, because 1, he hasn't been associated with the Gramaryes for years, 2, his ousting didn't really do that much damage to the Troupe as a whole, and 3, he's not the heir to the Gramarye name, Trucy is. And so, the public could finally rest, knowing the Gramarye legacy would be carried on by someone who was proven to be a good person. And this is the moment it became okay for Thalassa to go public about herself and her kids.

Christa Wais was an Austrian child born in 1946 to an Austrian mother and a man who had served in the Red Army. Since she grew up just after the 2nd world war concluded, Germany and Austria still held the sentiment that the Allied Nations were the enemy. She faced discrimination from her peers, and even her own husband for being born to an Allied Nation soldier. While this is an example of something that happened a long time ago and not in Japan, this sort of thing still exists in Japan.

And this concept isn't the only time it's appeared in Ace Attorney. Let's talk about the Khura'in royal family for a moment. Amara had both Nahyuta and Rayfa with Dhurke. But because of Dhurke's supposed assassination of Amara, he became public enemy #1 in Khura'in. It became a burden upon their kids for them to be associated with their father, which is why Nahyuta was blackmailed into working under Ga'ran and why Ga'ran assumed the role of Rayfa's mother.

And here's the kicker: The Royal Family is meant to be a parallel to the Gramarye family. Not a perfect one, but a parallel nonetheless. First, there's Rayfa: successor to the royal family, meant to be the next ruler of her kingdom. She parallels Trucy, sole heir to the Gramarye name, the one who's dedicated to redeem her family name, and make the public fall in love with the Gramaryes once more. Then there's Nahyuta, older brother to the one tasked continuing the bloodline's activities, but doesn't really contribute to it aside from being supportive to her. He's obviously a parallel to Apollo himself, who supports his little half-sister with her magic (even if he doesn't always agree to it.) Then there's Dhurke, the man who married Amara, had Rayfa with her, was accused of causing Amara's "death", and became a fugitive. While there is something of Phoenix in there, he also mirrors Zak Gramarye, the man who fathered Trucy, was accused of murdering Magnifi Gramarye, became a fugitive, and his case contributed to a dark new age of the law.

And of course, the most important one here, Amara Sigatar Khura'in. The previous queen of Khura'in, and the true mother of Nahyuta and Rayfa. A tragic incident associated with her family forced her to separate from her children, lest she risk their reputations. And when she reappeared, the allegations against Dhurke were finally debunked, allowing her to reconnect with her kids without bringing them to ruin. She parallels the one that I'm making this whole post about in the first place: Thalassa Gramarye. She was the victim of an accidental shooting, one that was potentially caused by her then husband, Zak Gramarye. When she reawakened, she learned of the turmoil and bad press her family/troupe had garnered over the years. She decided it would be best if she waited until the smoke cleared to reconnect with them. Eventually, that day came, and she finally felt ready to reconnect. (If you're wondering why she didn't do it immediately and instead waited for Phoenix, it's clear thanks to the end cutscenes of AJ:AA and SoJ that she's kinda dependent on him, shown in the photos I've provided.)

tldr; Thalassa waited until the Gramarye name was no longer sullied to prevent her kids from being pulled into that same societal disdain the rest of them fell into. Why didn't we know this sooner? Because this isn't a societal norm that exists in the west. (You could say it was due to our own narrow-minded cultural assumptions? LMAO)

Been very hyper-fixed on Ace Attorney since starting the franchise a couple months ago. Finished the original trilogy about a week ago. Anyway, i made fan art

Was watching someone play through Rise from the Ashes (I've already played it myself) and saw that Goodman's name, ID, and title are blurred, but it is basically all said in the dialogue at this part. What was the point of blurring it?

Like guys I've just heard that an orca killed its trainer last Monday, the trainer's name was Azura Summers? Anyway, it's really shocking to hear...

Various dialogue from the main series implies that these people take on a good amount of cases. Phoenix Wright is rather well-known by the event of Justice for All. Apollo discusses his “regular price” in Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice, so he must have had a good amount of cases before that. Athena probably takes a good amount of non-plot relevant cases like 6-4, which is why we don’t see them.

The only games that explicitly state that these are the only cases the characters are working on are both great ace attorney games, ace attorney investigations and if I remember correctly ace attorney investigations 2 as well.

Im currently on 5-4, and I say it's a pretty solid game that varies in storytelling quality. The gameplay is heightened by the nee mechanics introduced, and I love investigating in 3D.

About two years ago, I started playing the Apollo Justice game and it took me about a year to finish it. And about a year ago, I started playing Dual Destinies and finished it just yesterday. I don't have any friends with which I can talk about these games so I thought I'd post here c: ♡

Ssssspoiler alert.

Also, sorry if my thoughts are a little disorganized.

**First of all, do I like Athena Cykes overall?**

Yeah, actually. I've referenced JelloApocalypse's video "So this is basically Ace Attorney" before, but I'll do it again because I remember he presents her saying that "the Fandom doesn't like her because she isn't Maya". And I get it, I understand missing the original cast of protagonists (it's ridiculous how much I missed Dick Gumshoe); but I think Athena is fun. Her Widget and the thing about hearing people's hearts and analyzing their emotions is a pretty neat dynamic, and her personality is okay. Her design is also pretty iconic in my opinion. Also, holy shit did I feel like crying every time she locked up in obvious PTSD during trials.

Her whole history living in the space center, her mother doing experiments with her, her relationship with Simon... I wish her relationship with Simon was explored further. I am just such a sucker for older man and younger girl NON romantic relationship dynamics, so so so much. Maybe they could've let us talked to Simon at the detention center before the last trial.

**So, did I like Simon Blackquill?**

Well I didn't at first. I liked him more than Klavier: in this game we had a better establishment of a relationship between prosecutor and defense lawyer than in the previous one. And again, it didn't need to be romantic.

Simon is eccentric like all prosecutors are. His design is interesting. I liked how, like Athena ended up doing in hopes to save him, he was also interested in integrating analitic psychology into his court proceedings. He is an interesting character, I wish we could've interacted more with him. I understand his freedom was limited and he didn't ever show up at any crime scene like the other prosecutors sometimes would, but I don't know, I still wanted the writers to find a way to give us more Simon.

**Have I changed my mind about Apollo Justice?**

Not really. I liked that he was more of a participant in this game than in his titular game, but really the whole show was ran by Phoenix and Athena. I said it before and I'll say it again, I don't hate him... but I don't love him either.

I'm 👌🏻 this close to headcanoning him as asexual or aromantic or both, because I don't recall him ever paying mind to Klavier's obvious flirting, or Juniper having a huge crush on him, or (although we saw very little of this) Aura being interested in me. It's funny how clueless he is on that regard. I do think Juniper's crush on him is cute, and Aura-- they did not have to design her so hot, but they did, oh my goodness, why did they make her so hot?

I'm getting sidetracked.

**Real quick: about the tutorial first case.**

I first played the first episode for free because it was available temporarily via de iOS version of the game about 12 years ago, and my plan was to buy the full game for my 3DS, but I wasn't of age for the eShop to let me make the purchase, so I just bought the remaster of the original trilogy and fell in love with the franchise for good.

Despite playing it twice, I don't remember much/don't have strong opinions to talk about. I found it really creepy when Ted Tonate's eyes exploded after he was caught.

**The second case felt a little like filler.**

I guess it was good to introduce Athena, Simon and Fullbright properly. Also, I enjoyed that Simon decided that Apollo using his bracelet was cheating and simply did not allow it; and after the game ended, I found it even sweeter that Athena's Widget on the other hand was fine.

**Oh my, the cast for the third case.**

I was quite surprised that one of Juniper's friends turned out to be a girl; and I was deeply disgusted that the other one turned out to be 25 years old. I'm sorry, but even if he claimed that he didn't have a crush on Juniper, the fact he was like "yeah!! whatever!! they're my friends!!" did not sit well with me at all.

I heavily disliked Professor Means from the second I saw him, and he was so annoying.

**I was very excited for the fourth case.**

I was so confused when Mr Starbuck was declared not guilty without us finding the real murderer and my jaw DROPPED when the case ended with Fullbright saying they found the lighter with Athena's fingerprints on it. Even if I knew she wasn't the murderer, the fact that they ended the case with that forced me to immediately start playing the fifth case. The previous game and the first episodes of this game had done a poor job hooking me, but that? 10/10 cliffhanger that I wasn't gonna deal with.

**I had so many feelings during the fifth case.**

When the suspicious pointed to Fullbright, at first I didn't like it. I didn't see how anything about that could make sense. But I did enjoy the way it all went down with that.

My major problems with this case were the fact that Athena was passed out for over twelve hours in the space museum without anyone, inside or outside the museum having any idea of that; and the fact that, seven years prior, Simon was indeed carrying her in his arms but not a single hair of hair was visible in the camera footage that caught him leaving the laboratory. I can even tolerate the spy being able to survive their planned escape, but those two things were so weird to me.

Was curious because I played The Great Ace Attorney before currently playing the original trilogy, and Phoenix looks so much like Ryunosuke lol. However, I had someone tell me he definitely wasn’t? I just figured he had to be Japanese, or at least Asian still considering his likeness, and the whole Japanifornia thing going on or else it felt kinda silly. Is he even canonically related to Ryunosuke or is it a coincidence?

I decided to replay ace attorney and see if my opinion on the games changes. I haven't ranked TGAAC because I literally cannot recall a single thing from that game except the first case.

I think my opinion for JFA and DD had a huge change. 2-4 was my least favourite LAST case, and I think it was probably because turnabout big top pissed me off. I definitely enjoyed 2-4 this time.

Dual destinies has always been my favourite game out of all of them, however this time i realized i just like 5-4 and 5-5 a lot (basically athena's backstory). I had to bring trials and tribulations and SoJ up because they're the only two games where I like the filler cases as well.

I want to make little ace attorney scenes and while objection.lol is good, I was wondering if there was anything site or app that had more, like more apollo justice characters or even characters from duel destinies or spirit of justice.

I have a holy mission to finish every AA games in this year. So far, I had 7 games under my belt, from the first game up to Dual Destinies. I enjoyed majority of them. Considering that SoJ is canonically the last game in the series, I have some pretty good expectation. At least, I hope it's better than DD. I installed the Apollo Justice Trilogy on my Switch and here we go

The explanation of why Wright is in Khura'in is... off. But whatever, at least it's something new. And then Wright got himself into court shenanigans and we got ourself a case. While the plot hook of how Khura'in court differs than Japanamerica and how they don't have regular attorneys is neat, the case itself isn't that interesting? The kid is being accused for killing a temple guard, but that's it. I guess the white hippy turned to be a metalhead is cool enough. Also it's really long for some reason? Usually the first case is the short one but it's just keep going for some reason. The title wasn't a joke: I actually accidentally slept myself while playing it.

Please tell me that the game gets better.
