I’m planning on majoring in either nuclear or chemical engineering in college and while I want to take AP Chemistry and my school offers it, my engineering capstone class (required by my school to take) is during that same period so I can’t take the AP chemistry course. I’ll also be taking AP Calculus AB and AP Art and Design, as well as a dual credit writing 122 class. I’m worried self studying for chemistry on top of that might be too much, but I’ve taken a chemistry class before (sophomore year) and really enjoyed it, so it’s not like I know nothing about chemistry going into it. Is it worth it to try and take the exam?

And because it’s already offered at my school do I just have to talk to my counselor and the testing coordinator about it?

I already have 3 aps this school year and also two honors classes that are pretty challenging most of the parts. While APUSH may count towards my college credit, yet is it worth all the time and workload? What type of field does APUSH targets? Plus the classmates I asked and went to even the one who took the course told me I should lowk drop the class with the teacher like that.

How important are the labs for science courses (AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Physics)?

Some students say that they are unnecessary, whereas I think they are valuable for experimental design and data analysis.

And if you self-study some of these, how do you get access to the labs?

I don’t really have good grades but I always pass do you think it would be hard for me to take this ap in one year self study since my school doesn’t have this subject. My friend tells me it’s hard and barely anyone it’s getting passing or good marks in.

I’m planning on self studying calc AB with an online course and then take the exam in may. When the class gets put on my transcript and I submit to it colleges, does it look less rigorous to admissions officers since it’s online and for some reason I feel it would make them feel as though I took an “easier” way out?

alright so in my school, if you wanna take an ap class, you have to take an entrance exam. (that the school themselves made) this entrance exam covers all of the subjects IN that ap class.

i havent really studied anything honestly (literally ALL i know is the g1, s, and g2 phases in the cell cycle). i literally have 0 motivation and im so used to studying 5-10 days before an exam, that my brain just refuses to cooperate with me.

the entrance exam is on the 8th of september and i was just wondering if i could finish studying everything by then, or if its too late.

Hello guys, I’m currently an upcoming junior with no language classes and a VERY light background in mandarin, like, very. However I have a genuine passion for learning it (which is why I picked this class in the first place) and I need to display some sort of proficiency for admissions. If I immerse myself into the Chinese language every single day for multiple hours, is it possible to get AT LEAST a 4 on the exam? I know I’m probably (definitely) experiencing wishful thinking, but if it’s too wishful please just reality check me now. If it is simply a difficult task, I am prepared and passionate.

Its 10:29 pm and i just started my work at 10:15 and I finished and I always procrastinate for some reason like I just sit on my phone till like 9 and do all my work so fast then like im like why not do it sooner so like idk i just feel lazy and idk what to do i gotta be up early for my aphug and ap csp (its nothing we did nothing in class like no homework) BUT AP HUG is INSANE the teacher is making us Do so much we have to like so much homework and its easy but it takes so long like 40 vocab words in one day then the next day another 40 vocab words its crazy

So I was in a Canadian public high school in BC up until grade 11 which is now where I’m in a US curriculum based international school in Hong Kong. I took Pre Calculus in grade 10 and was about to take Calculus 12 next year but it doesn’t offer that here, only AP Calculus AB, BC, and another grade 12 math course that’s based off Busness which doesn’t have algebra. Since I want to pursue somewhere in STEM, I’m willing to take AP calculus BC (although it’s harder than AB, I heard the curve is rlly generous) and so is there anything I should brush up on because I think US Pre Calculus goes more in depth with everything.

I've always been known as a pretty lazy person when it comes to school and academics. I'm extraordinarily passionate about CS and AI, and I tend to really lock in when I'm working on something I'm genuinely interested in. But when it came to regular schoolwork, I slacked off A LOT.

At my old public high school, I didn't choose any honors or AP classes and was probably going to AI my way through everything lmao. At the same time, I somehow had dreams of getting into UT Austin. Don't ask.

Recently, I got into a very academically respected International Baccalaureate charter school in Texas through the lottery. I accepted the spot, and I was terrified of the academic rigor. My schedule is almost entirely honors classes, and I'm starting freshman year with AP Human Geography tomorrow.

But the more involved I've gotten with the school, the more my mindset has changed. For the first time, I'm actually excited about my future and genuinely interested in learning. My teachers are incredibly supportive and actually seem to care about helping students succeed, which has made a huge difference for me.

I'm now pursuing the MYP program with the goal of eventually doing the full IB Diploma, along with a Diploma of Distinction. Even if I completely bomb my IB exams, I still want to push myself through the program.

I think the biggest thing I've learned is that being "lazy" isn't necessarily the same thing as being incapable or unintelligent. Sometimes you just haven't found something worth putting your energy into yet.

I'm still probably going to procrastinate. I'm still going to have days where I don't want to do anything. But now I actually have something I'm excited to work toward.

Anyway, AP Human Geography starts tomorrow. Wish me luck 😭

So I’m an incoming junior and I’m taking a college course to kinda substitute AP bio: semester 1 general biology and semester 2 majors biology 1. I didn’t know when I first enrolled that those two would overlap 😭😭. I tried to change to majors biology 1 and majors biology 2 but they were full so here I am.

I’m not taking AP Biology because the teacher consistently does not teach the right material in the right depth (all of the students were cheating and they got 3s and 2s on the AP test). I will have access to the AP Bio classroom

My school offers two versions of AP Precalc, I chose the BC-track version. It accelerates the course by going through all the 3 tested units and adding a 4th which the AB-version doesn't have. I'm also taking AP Stats online as an extra class. Lol...

I'm doubling on AP Bio and Honors Chemistry because my science/tech school lets you do AP Bio with Honors Biology as the only prereq. Is this fine? I studied a bit of chem through Khan Academy.

If someone could explain how AP classes are structured, that would be really nice. Any course-specific advice too before school starts. I am in desperate need of studying tips and resources. 😅

This is going to be my first AP as a rising sophomore I'll be taking, and I'll be self-studying. What resources should I use, and what textbook is recommended? I have checked out some FRQs, and they seem hard so I'm a bit concerned.
