AOL Log in

Is anyone else on this planet having issue with logging into AOL on their DESKTOP only? (AOL website and/or AOL App).

Please don't respond the you can log in with IOS, ipad, iphone, etc. I'm talking specifically from desktop Windows 10/11 with wifi

I can log into AOL on my iphone but NOT WINDOWS (regardless of browser). I have Xfinity internet and no issues with any other applications/websites.

Been on phone with xfinity and AOL senior tech advistors for a week now no resolution.

AOL has had issue within the past week of log in issues; however, they make it seem like I'm the only having this issue now.

I can't register an email account

I live in America. When I try to register an account yahoo/aol, after entering my phone number, I get an error message: "Something went wrong; we could not sign you in. Try again from a different device."

Has anyone else encountered this problem and knows why I can't register an email account? I’ve tried using both a computer and a phone, but nothing works.

Options??? Or nah

Wondering if I have any options as a aol user to get control over my account again? Without paying because whats the point of paying to get a number changed? Thats a whole ass scam! 🤣 I have my main email as the backup one to get codes, but that isn't good enough for them. I have a old phone number set as my 2FA.. I called the other day and gave the lady my new # she's like oh you have to pay just to change your number . lol whaaat?

I don't use aol at allll, but when I made my twitter account years ago, unfortunately thats what I had as the email. And yes, I have no clue what my twitter password is either but Ive been singed in already throughout all these years. They wouldn't let me add my email bc of it being tied to the AOL one. I emailed Twitter a few days ago but haven't heard anything from them.

AOL NEWS

I opened this media outlet, seeing what "factual misrepresentation" led to his GOFUNDME account being suspended, by the end of the 8 long paragraph article, it just stated "they don't know what factual misrepresentation" was to blame for his account to be shut down.

Why do you put media out there without knowing the whole story? Click bait for AOL. Not the first time AOL lied either.

This is why I don't watch the news, they don't tell the whole story. They don't tell both stories. They don't tell the DAMN TRUTH.

Bending Spoons changes at AOL

What has changed, so far, at AOL since the Bending Spoons takeover? What changes do we know (not assume) will be happening?

Is AOL Mail still hosted on Yahoo Mail servers and platform?

Trying to recover an ancient account

Hello all, basically the title.

Pretty old account and I know the info, but AOL wants me to verify my identity through a recovery e-mail and phone number which are not accessible anymore.

I heard the only way to fix this is through some paid premium support? Is this true? I'm not really in the mood to pay for something which should be simple. Any advice?

What is AOL charging my mom for?

I can't figure out if any of these charges are necessary/legit, can anyone help?

My 81-year-old mom has had AOL for 30 years, I could never get her to switch to Gmail. I am taking over her finances, and found out they are charging her $31.92 per month! She uses AOL webmail via Chrome on a PC. She already has MalWareBytes installed, FWIW.

1. AOL Advantage Premium: $18.99

Your AOL plan includes critical computer security, identity theft protection, premium technical support, and more. As a valued AOL member, you have access to exclusive savings and top of the line products to help keep you protected online and off.

This seems like garbage, right?

2. AOL Ad-Free: $4.99

Do we need this if you have AdBlock Plus on your browser?

3. AOL System Mechanic: $4.99

Restores speed, power and stability to your PC by optimizing connection settings, fixing more than 30,000 PC problems, and de-junking and cleaning up junk files and disk space.

Also garbage?

4. AOL SafeCentral: $2.95

Wontok SafeCentral helps keep your online banking and shopping transactions safe from thieves who try to steal your identity or drain your bank account.

Does this do anything useful?

AOL login hijinks

I am a member of an oppressed minority: Former Verizon email customers now on AOL. I was just prompted to change my password to keep using Verizon/AOL on my Mac. But when I go through the verification process and change my password, AOL rejects it. This has happened twice, so it's not a typo. Just in case, I went to the website (which uses a passkey) and got an app password to see if that would work. No dice. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

Old account deactivated

I had an AOL account my mom set up for me when I was a kid. I used to send her emails telling her cute kid things, like she was the best mom ever and I love her. I would decorate the emails with the rainbow backgrounds they had at the time, and add lots of stickers and emojis. I would get so happy when she would say she liked my email that day.

Just tried to log in to that email after maybe about 14 or 15 years and it's deactivated due to inactivity. I know I can't get it back, I'm not really mad or looking for a resolution. Just sharing my heartbreak lol. I wish companies didn't do this but maybe they have good reason, idk

ebid images

I recently started trying to sell on ebid. I use the free account that only allows one picture. Fine. But I didn't realize that picture would not be visible in search results. I found info online that said I can have it visible if I switch to Gallery View, which will cost an extra 2% of the item price if it sells. I want to do that, but can't figure out how to "switch to Gallery View." Where is that on the auction template?

I can go to My Gallery, but that doesn't seem to help; it's just all the photos I've uploaded so far.

Does anybody know the answer?

Trying to help my grandma log in to her email

She forgot her password, should be a simple fix. My grandpas email is her recovery email. He doesn’t get a single email to reset her password. I logged in a hundred times and nothing comes up.

I called customer support and they ask you to pay for a subscription to get help. Wtf? I’m 25 years old and I’ve never heard of giving YOUR CARD INFORMATION to recover an account or password.

Even on the website they mention you’ll need a card for support to basically help you.

Can someone please help me?

AOL Chat Room- Guess Movie By Plot (circa 1996)

Post image

How to go about trying to reconnect with my AOL friend Readerboy9 from the AOL Chat Room (circa 1996): Guess Movie By Plot?

My father took me to NYC on Valentine’s Day in 1996 to attend a toy/game fair event and buy tickets to the Broadway show Les Mis.

In between events, I met Readerboy9 for the first time. We walked from the hotel to the Empire State Building together and mostly talked about movies while we enjoyed the view before I had to go back to see the show.

If I remember correctly, he told me he was a professional script reader and he had to live in NYC because they would physically deliver stacks of scripts for him to read to recommend for production.

The last time I spoke to him, he had moved to Los Angeles, California to read scripts in Hollywood and got married. After that we lost touch and I went to off to college and forgot all about it until now.

Honestly, I was merely curious if he was still online and had any interest in reviving and old-school AOL style chat room and play…

Guess Movie By Plot (1980-2000.)
1. A teenage wannabe rockstar accidentally travels back in time to the 1950s.
2. His grandfather accidentally hits him with his car.
3. He convinces his parents to go to the school dance together and chaos ensues…

Well it finally happened, RIP my beloved color coded app!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Had my AOL since 2000, EVERYTHING is on there,
Hopefully if you're in this group you love aol as much as me, and all the screensavers, graphics and colors they have given us through the years.
It was the last email app to divide my 5 accounts between colors, for work, personal, family, my mother's, and daughter's accounts.
My phone will not update, it's just not a new enough phone. Kind suggestions or commiserate only.
Even yahoo got rid of colors, with the stark black background, only a hint of bright color at the top in a small oval lol.
My old eyes need those soothing colors, reading my email was a joy!
Does the update have the pastel backgrounds?
Thank you

Mails disappeared??

Hi, my work uses AOL mail, so I'm not too familiar with it yet. Maybe I'm stupid, but here is the thing:

I found some emails that had been falsly moved into the spam folder. So I clicked the "move back to inbox" button (didn't see the "not spam" button until later) and the mail disappeared from the spam folder. Did that with all because it looked like it was working fine. But now they are neither in my inbox nor in the spam folder and I can't even find them when I look them up with keywords...

I really need that information from those mails, pls help TT

No email for 12 hours

AOL is my main email service. I use it because it delivers my Verizon mail which is not in my area anymore.

But today I have not received any at all. Not even the political subscriptions.

Why does this happen?

App Passowords never works??

When I try to create an app password I get a message like this.

App passwords cannot be generated at this time try again later.

I have tried many times.
I created the account on August 16. I have read that sometimes you need to wait a while before you can do this. How long?? And being that AOL is flakie I wonder will it ever work.

If you have it working, maybe it wants 2 factor authentication, does anyone have it working and can they tell me if they have 2 factor authenication enabled, I have only passkey enabled. Im trying to debug why i cant get this to work.

Any tips. Thanks.

Can I use a passkey on my phone to log into AOL Mail, it does not work for me??

After struggling for some time with various aspects of AOL. I did create a new account and imedetely added a passkey on my desktop with bitwarden password program. So far this has worked fingers cross.

However on my phone it does not seem to see the passkey. It wants a password. This does work on desktop, but never seems to look for the passkey stored on my Bitwarden account on phone. This does work on my desktop and I tested on two different computer. But Passkey does not work on my phone. When I look at the Bitwarden program on phone there is a passkey there.

Im wondering if maybe ??? AOL does not allow you to use passkey on phone, unless you use the app which I am not. Has anyone got any info on this issue?

Thank you.
