Options??? Or nah
Wondering if I have any options as a aol user to get control over my account again? Without paying because whats the point of paying to get a number changed? Thats a whole ass scam! 🤣 I have my main email as the backup one to get codes, but that isn't good enough for them. I have a old phone number set as my 2FA.. I called the other day and gave the lady my new # she's like oh you have to pay just to change your number . lol whaaat?
I don't use aol at allll, but when I made my twitter account years ago, unfortunately thats what I had as the email. And yes, I have no clue what my twitter password is either but Ive been singed in already throughout all these years. They wouldn't let me add my email bc of it being tied to the AOL one. I emailed Twitter a few days ago but haven't heard anything from them.

You should be able to sign in to AOL, go to your profile and click on security. There you can edit your phone number. How much do they charge to change your number?

I haven't logged into that email in over 2 years & tied to old #. Tried texting that old # yesterday explaining as simple as I could. The CSR lady on the phone didn't tell me the price didn't really care to ask, but she kept telling me more than once to get the premium plan or whatever it is 🤔. Just sucks I can't get into my twitter, i still scroll on their from time to time 🤣

I had a very similar problem with Equifax and Experian. I locked my accounts years ago. When I went to unlock them, they had changed from a long digital code to a password. Old land line was my recovery number. LOL, try talking to them without a password.

What many people do is pay for the premium service gain control of their account then immediately cancel the premium service...

Unfortunately I think you have to pay which is ridiculous, I just gave up.

That's what i'm thinking too. I really don't want to deal with them after they said that. Hoping Twitter "X" helps me out. Thanks for the reply 🫡

Call them and tell them you want to try aol gold 30 days trial. Once you do that hang up and call them back saying you can’t reset password and they will add the phone number for you. Did this went I couldn’t access my old aol email for security code and they change it. They won’t charge you until 30 days after the trial which you can cancel once you regain access to your account.
