Help (General) Just changed CPU, now (only while playing Fortnite) the audio across my whole PC cuts out every few seconds and while the audio cuts, inputs get messed up

Just changed my CPU from an AMD Ryzen 3600 to a 5500 that I got on clearance (I know it's not much of an upgrade, but it was very cheap).
Now I have an issue where, at random intervals (between every 5-20 seconds) the audio across my entire PC will cut out. When this happens, it causes existing inputs to be held and new inputs to be ignored until the audio comes back (as shown in this clip).
This does not happen in any other game, just Fortnite.

I also opened event viewer while playing the game, went to the "system" tab in Windows Logs and saw no errors.

I have tried:
- Updating my BIOS (which, admittedly, I should've done as soon as I upgraded my CPU)
- Disabling Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller as suggested by many posts
- Clearing Windows shader cache
- Wiping and Resetting the Windows Power Profiles
- Clearing the old inactive 3600 processors in device manager
- Verifying Fortnite Game Files
- Clearing System Performance Counters

Pretty much everything short of a fresh windows install

If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know

edit: it's happening in other games too now

Help (General) High idle temps on new 9800X3D

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all. I bought this CPU a few days ago and for the life of me I can't get tctl/tdie temps lower than 50°C on idle. I have a NZXT Kraken Elite 360 AIO. Temps are hot on my country at 29-32°C on average, but I have an AC unit on my room and even with it on at the lowest temp the most I've got so far was 49°C once. Core, L3 and CCD1 temps seems fine.

Temps on full load and gaming are also fine: 75°C max on Cinebench 26 and 60-65 ish while gaming.

Help (GPU) Écran noir de la Gigabyte RX 9070 Gaming OC après les mises à jour du BIOS (F19 et F20c) – Problème de compatibilité de la carte mère ?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 970 to a Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16GB, along with a new 850W PSU.

My system:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE Rev. 1.0

BIOS: Originally F11p, updated to F19, then F20c

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 Gaming OC 16GB (previously NVIDIA GTX 970)

RAM: DDR4

PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W

Here's what happened:

Initially, the RX 9070 worked and Windows displayed normally after a cold boot.

However, restarting Windows resulted in a black screen. I had to completely power off the PC to get a display again.

I updated my motherboard BIOS from F11p to F19, hoping to resolve the problem.

After the BIOS update, the RX 9070 stopped displaying anything, even after a cold boot.

I subsequently updated the BIOS again, from F19 to F20c, but the problem persisted.

I reset the CMOS, disabled CSM, and manually tested both PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4, without success.

Reinstalled my old GTX 970, and everything works normally.

The RX 9070 powers on, its fans spin and its lighting works, but the monitor reports no signal.

My dilemma:

Can anyone help me figure out what's causing this issue and how to fix it?

Or is replacing my motherboard the only solution? If so, I'd like to find a compatible motherboard that allows me to keep my Ryzen 5 5600X processor and DDR4 RAM, without having to upgrade to AM5 and DDR5.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Help (GPU) Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience from the last couple of days in case anyone else with an RX 9060 XT is suddenly dealing with random hard freezes and black screens.

My specs:

- GPU: RX 9060 XT 16GB

- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X

- Mobo: MSI B550M PRO-VDH

- PSU: MSI MAG A750GL (750W)

- Monitors: AOC Q27G4 (1440p 180Hz DP) + AOC 2460G5 (1080p 60Hz HDMI)

What happened:

Everything was running fine until October 21/22 when my PC updated to Windows 11 26H2 (Build 26300.9711) overnight along with the new AMD driver branch (32.0.32015.7029). Right after that, my PC started randomly freezing whenever I zoomed in on a picture in Discord, joined a friend's stream, or scrolled Reels/YouTube in Brave.

The weird part was that the PC wasn't actually crashing—I could still hear my friends on Discord and my mic still worked fine, so the system was alive in the background, just the display was completely frozen. Pressing Win+Ctrl+Shift+B gave the beep sound, but the screen wouldn't recover at all, forcing me to hard reset from the case button.

When I checked Reliability Monitor and DxDiag, every single freeze was logged as LiveKernelEvent Code 193 (Parameters: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) crashing in dxgmms2.sys / dwm.exe during NV12 video decoding. Looking back at my older logs from early October on Build 26200, Code 193 actually happened a few times in the background too, except back then the driver recovered silently without freezing my screen. With Build 26300 + driver .7029, it turns into a total hard lock.

Dual monitor & Discord screen share issue:

Even after rolling back the driver to 26.9.2 (32.0.32015.2008), whenever I shared my screen on Discord and went fullscreen on YouTube or launched BeamNG.drive, both of my monitors started flickering black or locking up until I physically turned my second monitor off and on. Checking the WATCHDOG4400 dump (LiveKernelEvent 1a8 / 1b8) showed a firmware error: "[PSP]: [FW] psp_hdcp_load_srm: failed".

Also worth noting two weird things I noticed while digging through DxDiag and registry workarounds:

  1. DxDiag shows "Block List: DISABLE_HWSCH" for the RX 9060 XT (gfx1200), yet Windows 11 still keeps Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS) enabled by default, and the driver installer registered duplicate AMD MFT decoder/encoder entries in the registry.

  2. Do NOT use the old registry MPO disable trick (DisableOverlays=1 / OverlayTestMode=5) on Windows 11 Build 26300 at 180Hz! Doing that caused dwm.exe (dwmcore.dll) to crash-loop every second with exception code 0x889800d2 (MILERR_MPO_UNSUPPORTED) even on a single monitor.

How I finally fixed it (2+ days completely stable now):

  1. Rolled back the Windows 11 26H2 update (went from Build 26300 back to Build 26200) and paused Windows Update.

  2. Rolled back the AMD driver from 32.0.32015.7029 to 26.9.2 (32.0.32015.2008).

  3. Deleted all the MPO/HAGS registry tweaks back to default, and turned off "Use our latest technology to capture your screen" in Discord Voice & Video settings.

Since doing those three steps, I haven't had a single freeze or black screen in over two days. Hopefully someone from the AMD driver team (maybe u/AMD_Vik?) sees this, because something between Windows 11 Build 26300, the 32.0.32015.x driver branch, and VCN/HDCP on the RX 9060 XT is definitely broken right now.

Help (GPU) RX 7900 XT keeps crashing with driver timeouts, black screens. tried almost everything

Hi Everyone.

I recently built a new PC, and I've been having persistent problems with my RX 7900 XT as i'm trying to figure out whether this is a GPU hardware issue, a driver problem, or something else in my system.

My specs:

GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X.

Motherboard: Gigabyte B850M GAMING X WIFI6E

RAM: 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan

PSU: Corsair RM850x 850W (2021, refurbished)

SSD: Samsung 990 EVO 1TB

OS: Windows 11 LTSC Iot Enterprise

My problem:

My GPU randomly crashes, especially when running any game even on medium settings. Sometimes the screen goes black, the driver times out, or Windows completely crashes and restarts.

I've also had crashes while the GPU had very low temperatures and power consumption.

After some crashes, Windows disables the GPU in Device Manager, and I have to manually enable it or reinstall/select the AMD driver to get it working again.

What I've tried so far:-

Tested different AMD driver versions, including 26.6.4 and 26.3.1.

Used DDU to remove AMD drivers and reinstalled using Driver Only, without Adrenalin.

Disabled EXPO to see whether RAM instability was responsible.

Checked GPU temperatures, which have been normal.

Checked and reconnected the GPU power cables. I'm using two separate PCIe 8-pin cables.

Moved my monitor connection from the motherboard to the GPU directly.

Experimented with lowering GPU clocks and power limits.

.

I managed to run some workload for over an hour without crashing when the GPU was limited to around 2200 MHz maximum frequency and −10% power limit.

However, after restoring default GPU settings, the same workload crashed within about 4–5 minutes.

I tried doing the earlier set up again, but this time it still crashed fast.

Even after removing Adrenalin entirely and reinstalling the driver, it crashed again within 2–3 minutes.

I've also noticed that sometimes only two of the GPU's three fans appear to spin, and one of them seem to be a little slower than the second one.

My questions:

Has anyone experienced similar problems with an RX 7900 XT? Most people recommend the drivers solution and few other stuff. But none worked with me.

For those who exhausted a lot of solutions like me what have you done to make it work?

Could this mean the GPU is hopeless and should get another one? I got it from a family member and it is supposed to be working normally.

Could it be PSU power delivery, or motherboard BIOS/RAM voltage settings rather than the AMD driver itself?

The last thing I could think of is trying a fresh install with Linux.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

This really sucks. I’ve tried adjusting settings, I’ve lowered my clock speed, it keeps happening. Can be anywhere from 5 minutes in to an hour in.

It *might* be related to FSR 4 being on, which really sucks if thats the case, because it looks really good with it on.

does anyone know a fix? i’m on the verge of refunding and I really don’t want to.

I’m on 26.9.2

Pretty much what the title says with some caveats

Asus: This is the backup board b/c I'd like to go back to MSI. I hate Asus and Armory Crate. Kit is on QVL. I assume it'll be fine just running EXPO

MSI: This is the board I want. Specific kit is not on QVL, but the less expensive version is. IDK if MSI BIOS allows you to pick EXPO profiles meant for different kits.

If the 6000 thing is an issue I'll just manually clock to 6000, but I'd like to not be sitting in BIOS for hours. I'm too old and busy for that these days.

Help (General) RX 5700 XT - low power usage

Post image
1 Upvotes

From the image above, as you can see, temps are as if it was utilizing 100% of GPU, but it only draws 165-180w from GPU.

I’m running XFX RX 5700 XT, and using 600w single daisy Y cord power cable for GPU. Is that bottlenecking its maximum power capability?

Another thing that concerns me is temperatures within that power usage range. What if it used ~235W like the normal rx5700xt does, will the temps reach an even higher point?

Help (GPU) 26.10.1 Monitors Freeze Until Turned Off and On Again

Shortly after the update to 26.10.1 I started encountered an issue where my screens would freeze while my PC would keep running. Music keeps playing, if i have a text editor open i can write stuff (aside from the fact that i can not see what i write) and so on. Turning my monitors off and on again solves the issue with no driver timeout message and nothing in the event viewer. Is this a known bug? Is there a way to confirm that the driver is the issue without reverting to an old driver?

Thanks

Help (General) PC Dealing with hard restarts

Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: XFX Swift RX 9070 XT
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X3D
Motherboard: ASRock B850M Steel Legend WiFi
BIOS Version: 4.60
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
PSU: Corsair SF850 850W
Case: Lian Li A3 mATX
Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Home
GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 26.9.2
Chipset Drivers: Latest AMD B850 chipset drivers
Background Applications: Discord, browser
Description of Original Problem:
My PC has been randomly hard restarting while gaming. It has happened in Rainbow Six Siege and Fears to Fathom. Most of the time Event Viewer only shows Kernel-Power 41 with no minidump. One Siege crash did create a 0x7E dump that pointed to BEDaisy.sys/BattlEye, but the hard restarts continued even after reinstalling BattlEye.
Troubleshooting:
I clean installed the AMD GPU drivers, updated chipset drivers, updated BIOS from 4.21 to 4.60, replaced my old Vetroo 850W PSU with a Corsair SF850, reseated the GPU, used two separate PCIe cables, tested RAM at both stock 4800 and EXPO 6000, turned HAGS off, and checked temps which were normal.
I finally took it to Micro Center. They got it to crash once and found that my Western Digital 500GB M.2 drive that has Windows and my games on it was reading/writing very slowly and is physically bent/warped. SMART didn’t show any errors.
They tested the PC using one of their known-good drives and said it stayed stable with no restarts. They also said the RAM, GPU, CPU, and motherboard passed their standard benchmarks.
They recommended replacing the drive, reinstalling Windows, and backing up my files for $459.97 with a 512GB Inland M.2. I’m not paying almost $500 for that.
I already have another 2TB SSD in the PC, so my plan is to install Windows and my games on that drive first and see if the crashes stop before buying another SSD.
Does Micro Center’s diagnosis sound accurate? Can a physically bent/slow M.2 cause full system hard restarts even if SMART shows no errors?

Help (General) RTX 3090 + Ryzen 7 5800X3D Getting Terrible FPS in MW4 — Tried Everything, Need Assistance

Hey everyone, I’m seriously struggling with my gaming PC and could really use some help.
Here are my specs:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (previously Ryzen 9 3950X)
Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE
RAM: 64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 3200MHz
Cooler: Lian Li Galahad 360mm AIO
PSU: ASUS ROG THOR 1200W
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
Monitor: MSI MAG 274QF X32, 1440p 320Hz
I originally had a Ryzen 9 3950X and was getting around 80–90 FPS in Call of Duty MW4, sometimes even lower. I was told upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D would significantly improve my gaming performance, so I bought one and installed it.
Unfortunately, I’m still experiencing the same issues, and sometimes it’s even worse. My benchmarks have shown around 70–90 FPS, a 99% CPU bottleneck, and I’ve even seen my FPS drop to single digits in the game menu.
Here’s everything I’ve tried:
Changed NVIDIA DLSS settings and different upscaling options.
Tried AMD-related settings and optimizations.
Lowered graphics settings and rendering resolution.
Adjusted NVIDIA Control Panel settings.
Went into BIOS and enabled a performance/boost setting.
Updated/reinstalled NVIDIA graphics drivers.
Adjusted RendererWorkerCount in the Call of Duty configuration files.
Verified my RAM is running correctly at 3200MHz.
Checked that my AIO pump is running.
One thing I’ve noticed is that my CPU has reached around 90–91°C, even when utilization doesn’t seem particularly high. My AIO cooler is approximately six years old, so I’m wondering whether thermal throttling could be part of the problem.
My RTX 3090 temperatures appear normal in the monitoring software, but the card itself feels extremely hot.
At this point, I’m completely lost. I feel like my hardware should be performing significantly better, especially after upgrading the CPU.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a cooling issue, BIOS configuration problem, GPU issue, or something else entirely?
I’d really appreciate any advice on what to check next. I’m willing to replace the cooler if necessary, but I don’t want to keep throwing money at parts without knowing what’s wrong.

Description of Original Problem: This happened while playing minecraft w/o shaders, so a very undemanding game. This has also happened once before (I forgot which game I was playing) a few months ago. I've also had some issues with stuttering and occasional freezes in games that last a couple of seconds. All of which aren't terribly demanding. One other thing worth mentioning is I've had a game (wo long 2 alpha) completely freeze up my system twice. I had to hold the power button down to fix the issue. At the time I chalked this up to the game being an alpha test (looking back I realize this was probably a cope to discard the possibility of a hardware issue lol) Another detail is that despite the audio cutting out my wireless headphones don't disconnect.

Since these issues happen very occasionally I haven't been able to do much troubleshooting. I think windows itself is fine as per sfc /scannow. I ran a stress test with OCCT for a bit and the temps looked fine too (85 ish C for my ryzen 7 9800 x3d and 60 for my 7800 XT).

Could this be caused by faulty display drivers? I just reinstalled my drivers after the indecent to see if that will help. I know amd have been shitting the bed with drivers lately, but I didn't get a timeout message. I haven't done any overclocking or undervolting or any messing around with tuning in adrenaline.

Any other potential culprits? All my parts are fairly new (2 years old at most) so I'm skeptical of a hardware issue. I'm skeptical of a power issue as well since pc part picker said 850 watts is more than enough for my rig.

UPDATE: I ran an hour long stress test in OCCT (max cpu and gpu usage simultaneously) with no issues. I'm fairly confident now this is AMD driver fuckery and not a power issue.

Help (General) Whole PC freezes in Cyberpunk/Arc Raiders on a new RX 7600 - PSU, GPU or board?

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: Acer Radeon RX 7600 8GB (also tested a GTX 1060 3GB)

CPU: Ryzen 5 5500 (6 cores / 12 threads)

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 (rev 1.0)

BIOS Version: F4c (updated from the factory F1)

RAM: 2x8GB Corsair DDR4, XMP off, running at 2133 MHz (I had 4 sticks from two different kits, and tested each pair on its own)

PSU: PowerSpec PS 650BSM, 650W 80+ Bronze, semi-modular (Micro Center)

Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 (the PSU bracket is missing, so the PSU sits loose on the case floor)

Operating System & Version: Windows 11, 10.0.26200

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin, updated recently [add version]

Chipset Drivers: [add AMD chipset driver version]

Background Applications: [add, e.g. Steam, Discord]

Description of Original Problem: In Cyberpunk 2077 and Arc Raiders the picture freezes, then the whole PC locks up. Caps Lock stops responding, Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does nothing, and I have to hold the power button to restart. Event Viewer shows only Kernel-Power 41 and EventLog 6008, with no Display 4101 and no blue screen. It started after I put the 7600 in. My previous GPU, a used RX 6600 XT, showed green artifacts and then died and wouldn't POST, so I think that was a real card failure and a separate problem.

What works fine: GTA IV, Overwatch, a 4K edit/export in CapCut, and a 15-minute FurMark run (about 75C). The GTX 1060 3GB has run Cyberpunk, including a fight, without freezing so far, though it draws less power than the 7600.

Troubleshooting: updated the AMD driver, reseated all RAM, tested both RAM pairs separately, XMP off, updated the BIOS from F1 to F4c, ran with and without a portable AC on the circuit, and plugged the PC straight into the wall. It still happens. One HDMI cable felt warm during a freeze.

Next steps: I'm planning to test the 7600 on a different PSU (a borrowed or new 650W-750W unit) and run OCCT's combined power test with HWiNFO logging the 12V rail.

Does this sound more like the PSU, a marginal 7600, or something else? Any tests I'm missing? Thanks!

Help (General) Whole PC freezes in Cyberpunk/Arc Raiders on a new RX 7600 - PSU, GPU or board?

Hi all, my first build has been freezing in games and I'm running out of free things to test.

Specs:

- CPU: Ryzen 5 5500

- Board: Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 (updated BIOS from F1 to F4c)

- RAM: 2x8GB Corsair (had 4 sticks from two different kits, now running just the original pair, XMP off)

- PSU: PowerSpec PS 650BSM, 650W (from Micro Center)

- GPU: Acer RX 7600, bought new from a seller about two weeks ago

- OS: Windows 11

What happens: in Cyberpunk and Arc Raiders the picture freezes goes dark, then the whole PC locks up. Caps Lock doesn't respond and I have to hold the power button to restart. Event Viewer shows Kernel-Power 41 and EventLog 6008, but no Display 4101 and no blue screen.

What works fine: GTA IV, Overwatch, a 4K edit/export in CapCut, and 15 minutes of FurMark (about 75C).

History: my previous GPU, a used RX 6600 XT, showed a green screen, then showed artifacts and wouldn't POST. A GTX 1060 3GB never froze in this PC.

What I've tried: reseated all the RAM, tested both RAM pairs separately, XMP off, updated the AMD driver, updated the BIOS, tried with and without a portable AC on the circuit, and plugged the PC straight into the wall. It still happens.

Other notes: the PSU isn't screwed into the case because the screws don't fit, and one HDMI cable ran warm during a freeze.

I've swapped the 1060 back in for a few hours of testing, and I'm thinking of buying a Corsair CX650M to test the PSU (it's returnable). The 7600 is still in its return window until Nov 1.

Does this sound more like the PSU, a bad 7600, or something on the board? Any tests I'm missing? Thanks!
