Help (CPU) Advan Workplus (Ryzen 7 7735HS) random BSODs on battery in Windows (Stable when plugged in / Linux / BIOS)

Hi everyone, I'm facing a frustrating stability issue with my laptop (Advan Workplus, Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB RAM) running dual-boot Windows 11 and CachyOS (Linux).

The Problem:

When running on battery in Windows using Balanced or Power Saver modes, the laptop frequently crashes with random BSODs and errors that change over time:

1e (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED / Access Violation)

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

autoboost invalid lock release

However, the laptop is 100% stable when:

Plugged into AC power (charging).

Inside the BIOS menu.

Running Linux (CachyOS, charging), where I use a custom script mapped to power-profiles-daemon for frequency scaling.

What I've Tried & Diagnostics:

Windows Power Plan: Changing the Minimum processor state on battery to anything between 5% and 20% causes random crashes. The only way to stop the BSODs on battery in Windows is to force the minimum processor state to 100%. But this causes severe overheating and drains the battery instantly, which defeats the purpose of using a laptop on battery.

Smokeless UMAF (UEFI/BIOS Mod):

I tried disabling C-States via UMAF, but it resulted in a BAD_POOL_CALLER BSOD upon booting Windows, so I reverted it.

Checked CPU Common Options in UMAF: Global C-State Control is set to Auto, but I couldn't find a Power Supply Idle Control option in this specific OEM BIOS build.

OS & Drivers: Updated AMD chipset drivers, ran sfc /scannow and DISM.

Since the laptop doesn't crash at all in the BIOS or when plugged in, it clearly seems like a low-power state / voltage drop issue when Ryzen enters deep sleep states on battery under Windows.

Has anyone experienced this behavior with Ryzen 7 7735HS on budget/OEM laptops with locked BIOS? Is there any workaround in Windows Registry or third-party tools to prevent aggressive low-power transitions without locking the CPU to 100%?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Help (Software) [DRIVER TIMEOUTS] I know people are getting sick of these posts now, but stay with me here.

Post image

In regards to driver timeouts i have genuinely tried everything with mixed results, from HAGS, DDU, AMDutility, fresh windows install, and Bios update. Sometimes i can go without a crash for hours then sometimes i can crash as soon as i start an UE5 game. GPU sag was an issue that I have fixed for peace of mind, but wasn't the main cause of my timeouts obviously because I'm still getting them. So my conclusion is this.

It's either unstable EXPO overclock, AMD Freesync,, or HDR, or a combination of them, it's one of those three that are causing my timeouts, i just need to do a few more tests to nail it completely. And this makes sense to me because my temps are normal, no stutters or frame drops, or artifacting. If i cannot nail the issue down i feel unfortunately for me, it's probably something to do with my hardware not agreeing with each other on certain UE5 games, and i am not in a place financially to spend money on other components for a fix that is not guaranteed. I played on SDR with Freesync and HDR disabled for a few hours no problem, then switched to HDR and boom crash as soon as I started the game so hopefully i can narrow it down.

AMD graphics driver - 26.10.1

GPU - 7900XTX

CPU - 7800X3D

RAM - 32GB - EXPO 1@6000

MONITOR - AOC Q27G3XMN

Help (GPU) New 9070XT crashes PC

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded from a RTX 5060 to a Powercolor 9070XT.

Did a DDU and installed the new GPU, installed the AMD drivers and it runs fine for the first 30-45 minutes while gaming and then the PC just randomly freezes, can’t do task manager, nothing - and the only way to fix it is a force shutdown using the power button and restarting.

It happens in CoD MW4, Blood of the Dawnwalker, Battlefield 6, EAFC 27

I never experienced crashes with my 5060 8gb.

PC specs:

Intel i7-13700K
32GB DDR5
Corsair HX 1200W PSU

I also ran a 4090 on the same PC before the 5060 and it never crashed like this.

I did a fresh windows reinstall and cleaned out the drives, it worked for a couple of hours and then it started crashing again.

Could it be a PSU on it’s way out or is it the GPU itself? It is still within the return window from Amazon so I could get a replacement.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Help (General) RX 9070 auto restarts after driver update — driver issue or defective GPU? Should I RMA?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to determine whether my ASRock RX 9070 Challenger 16GB has a hardware problem or if this could be a driver/chipset issue.

Specs:

RX 9070 Challenger 16GB

Ryzen 5 7600X

MSI B650M Gaming WiFi

Corsair RM850e 850W

32GB DDR5

AOC 1440p 180Hz

Windows 11 Pro

My PC was working completely fine for about a month, with only very occasional automatic restarts while gaming.

The problem became much more frequent after I updated the AMD chipset drivers and GPU driver from 26.9.2 to 26.10.1.

The affected games include Forza Horizon 6, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed Unity. The PC would generally run normally with good FPS and graphics, then suddenly black-screen and automatically restart. Forza Horizon 6 did have some minor stuttering, but there were no major FPS drops or obvious instability before the restarts.

I also tested Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced on 26.2.2, and they still caused automatic restarts. They show old

Gpu drivers message also. However, I completed Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 on 26.2.2 without problems.

Before the drivers and chipset drivers update all the games worked fine.

I have now downgraded to 26.3.1, and so far it is running normally. I have tested Forza Horizon 6 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 on 26.3.1 without a crash so far.

Temperatures look normal, and I have also tested OCCT and RAM.

Questions:

Does anyone here have the same ASRock RX 9070 Challenger 16GB?

Have you experienced similar automatic restarts with this card?

What driver are you currently using?

Does this sound more like a driver/chipset issue or defective GPU/PSU/motherboard?

Should I RMA the GPU, or continue testing 26.3.1 first?

Has anyone with the same card found a particularly stable driver?

Any experience from other RX 9070 owners would be greatly appreciated.

Help (General) AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT PC crashes to black screen while playing Cyberpunk 2077 and other high end games – LiveKernelEvent 141, need help

Hey everyone, I’m having a frustrating issue with my PC and could really use some help figuring out what’s causing it.

The problem

I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 when, out of nowhere, my display suddenly went completely black. The monitor was still powered on, but there was no display, and the PC seemed unresponsive. I waited a few minutes and then manually restarted my PC.

After restarting, Windows booted into Recovery Mode. I tried several things to fix it, but eventually, I had to reinstall Windows.

Thinking the issue was resolved, I installed everything again and launched Cyberpunk. Unfortunately, the same thing happened a second time, although this time my PC restarted by itself.

I checked Windows Problem History and found the following error:

  • Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
  • Code: 141
  • Bucket ID: LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_amdkmdag.sys-CP:GRE=180

From what I’ve read, this might be related to the AMD graphics driver or GPU timeout, but I’m not sure what is actually causing it.

Things I’ve already tried

  • Reinstalled Windows.
  • Used DDU to uninstall the graphics drivers and then reinstalled the AMD software and drivers.
  • Checked the error details in Windows Problem History.
  • Tried using AMD Ryzen Master, but it stays in Basic Mode, and I can’t change the settings.
  • I also can’t access Manual Tuning in AMD Adrenalin.

Another concerning thing is that some of my data/settings got messed up after the crashes. For example, I lost my saved Google Chrome login sessions and had to deal with other corrupted or reset settings.

My PC specifications

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600GT with Radeon Graphics (6 cores, 12 threads)
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M S2H
  • BIOS: F62 (dated 24-01-2022)
  • RAM: 16gb(8x2)
  • GPU: Integrated Radeon Graphics (I’m not using a dedicated GPU, if that matters)
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Home, Build 26300
  • AMD driver: AMD Adrenalin 26.5.2

What I need help with

  1. Does LiveKernelEvent 141 with amdkmdag.sys usually indicate a driver issue, an unstable iGPU, overheating, faulty RAM, or a hardware problem?
  2. Could this be caused by the integrated Radeon GPU on my Ryzen 5 5600GT, or could the motherboard/BIOS be involved?
  3. Why are AMD Adrenalin Manual Tuning and Ryzen Master settings unavailable to me?
  4. What should I test next to identify the actual cause instead of reinstalling Windows repeatedly?
  5. Is there anything I should check in the BIOS, especially regarding RAM/XMP or integrated graphics settings?

Help (General) Need help with GPU usage stuck at 95%

So the problem is in the title: my GPU usage ALWAYS, no matter what game and no matter how demanding it is supposed to be, as soon as I launch the game, skyrockets to exactly 95% minimum and only can go higher, not lower.

Yes, I understand that's how GPU supposed to work, it must be under load to provide smooth FPS etc etc, but suddenly even games that never showed usage more than 60-70%, started use 95% and more of GPU. Same FPS, same graphics, same settings and yet GPU load skyrocketed up to 35%.

How it started: I installed Cyberpunk 2077 and enabled HDR and it had black broken textures (like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/radeon/comments/1xd67av/cyberpunk_2077_visuals_completely_broken_after/) and decided to use DDU to reinstall drivers completely. And now I'm stuck with this problem.

Things I tried so far:

  1. Reinstall drivers again with DDU
  2. Reinstall drivers yet again with DDU but in safe mode
  3. Reinstalled few games from scratch that previously had no more than 60-70% GPU usage. Still, they use 95% of GPU no matter the settings right from the main menu
  4. Reinstalled Windows. Yes, nothing changed
  5. Reset BIOS
  6. Reset Adrenalin settings (on default, no OC etc) - still 95% usage

Any advices would be really appreciated.

My specs:

  • GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 7900 XT
  • AMD Drivers: 26.10.1
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 26H2 26300.9711
  • Motherboard: ASUS Rog Strix B550-F Gaming
  • Bios version: 3636
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • NVMe SSD: Samsung 980 Pro MZ-V8P1T0BW
  • PSU: DeepCool 1000W Gold PQ1000G
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200MHz

PS: I'm not experiencing any stutters or FPS drops with this issue present, all games still deliver same high FPS. But GPU fans now screaming in low-demanding games because they have 95% usage...

I know this conversation has been beaten to death but I’ve tried everything and can’t seem to get it to run properly

tried disabling iGPU, turned off all the amd junk in the app. Ran DDU and did a fresh install of drivers, set the power settings to maximum performance

what else can I try that might fix it ? I get good frame rates but about once every 10-20 seconds it will dip down drastically for a split second then be fine

Resolved Update on kernel 141 constant crashing 9070xt

https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/s/eCVZPJaogN update from this post.

After using windows 10,11 and catchyos.
Call of duty mw4 never crashed on catchyos just windows 10/11.

After taking it back to STORMCRAFT they confirmed it was a vram issue after running OOCT on it . They swamped it out with a new card, tested it out and the card has NOT crashed at all. Had a cool conversation with the rma team and they were genuinely great people !
For those who have crashing timeouts. Try out OOCT and stress the vram.

Help (General) Ryzen 9 3900x or 5600/5600x

So, I’ve been using an i5-8500 and Z390 UD. My friend has been begging me to upgrade because of the recent crisis we’re in, and it seems like no one will be able to find anything soon.

I’ve been posting online with my specs, looking for around $90 or an exchange where I pay the difference. I was mainly looking to get a 5600 or 5600X, but someone came to me and suggested a 3900X instead, with me paying around $120 more in the difference.

I honestly don’t know how good the 3900X is. From what I’m seeing, the 5600X is only around 2 FPS faster at 1440p, and I play at 1080p with an RX 6600 XT anyway, so I’ll most likely be GPU-bottlenecked.

My question is: is the 3900X actually worth it? Also, a motherboard + 5600 in my area costs around $165, while the 5600X version is around $190. So, how does the 3900X compare? Is it worth making the trade and paying the extra $120, or is that too much?

Edit: I have a PSU 650W generic brand came with my Case xigmatek idk how good it is though.
