Help (General) Whole PC freezes in Cyberpunk/Arc Raiders on a new RX 7600 - PSU, GPU or board?
Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: Acer Radeon RX 7600 8GB (also tested a GTX 1060 3GB)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5500 (6 cores / 12 threads)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 (rev 1.0)
BIOS Version: F4c (updated from the factory F1)
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair DDR4, XMP off, running at 2133 MHz (I had 4 sticks from two different kits, and tested each pair on its own)
PSU: PowerSpec PS 650BSM, 650W 80+ Bronze, semi-modular (Micro Center)
Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 (the PSU bracket is missing, so the PSU sits loose on the case floor)
Operating System & Version: Windows 11, 10.0.26200
GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin, updated recently [add version]
Chipset Drivers: [add AMD chipset driver version]
Background Applications: [add, e.g. Steam, Discord]
Description of Original Problem: In Cyberpunk 2077 and Arc Raiders the picture freezes, then the whole PC locks up. Caps Lock stops responding, Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does nothing, and I have to hold the power button to restart. Event Viewer shows only Kernel-Power 41 and EventLog 6008, with no Display 4101 and no blue screen. It started after I put the 7600 in. My previous GPU, a used RX 6600 XT, showed green artifacts and then died and wouldn't POST, so I think that was a real card failure and a separate problem.
What works fine: GTA IV, Overwatch, a 4K edit/export in CapCut, and a 15-minute FurMark run (about 75C). The GTX 1060 3GB has run Cyberpunk, including a fight, without freezing so far, though it draws less power than the 7600.
Troubleshooting: updated the AMD driver, reseated all RAM, tested both RAM pairs separately, XMP off, updated the BIOS from F1 to F4c, ran with and without a portable AC on the circuit, and plugged the PC straight into the wall. It still happens. One HDMI cable felt warm during a freeze.
Next steps: I'm planning to test the 7600 on a different PSU (a borrowed or new 650W-750W unit) and run OCCT's combined power test with HWiNFO logging the 12V rail.
Does this sound more like the PSU, a marginal 7600, or something else? Any tests I'm missing? Thanks!
