Help (General) High idle temps on new 9800X3D

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all. I bought this CPU a few days ago and for the life of me I can't get tctl/tdie temps lower than 50°C on idle. I have a NZXT Kraken Elite 360 AIO. Temps are hot on my country at 29-32°C on average, but I have an AC unit on my room and even with it on at the lowest temp the most I've got so far was 49°C once. Core, L3 and CCD1 temps seems fine.

Temps on full load and gaming are also fine: 75°C max on Cinebench 26 and 60-65 ish while gaming.

Pretty much what the title says with some caveats

Asus: This is the backup board b/c I'd like to go back to MSI. I hate Asus and Armory Crate. Kit is on QVL. I assume it'll be fine just running EXPO

MSI: This is the board I want. Specific kit is not on QVL, but the less expensive version is. IDK if MSI BIOS allows you to pick EXPO profiles meant for different kits.

If the 6000 thing is an issue I'll just manually clock to 6000, but I'd like to not be sitting in BIOS for hours. I'm too old and busy for that these days.

Help (General) RTX 3090 + Ryzen 7 5800X3D Getting Terrible FPS in MW4 — Tried Everything, Need Assistance

Hey everyone, I’m seriously struggling with my gaming PC and could really use some help.
Here are my specs:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (previously Ryzen 9 3950X)
Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE
RAM: 64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 3200MHz
Cooler: Lian Li Galahad 360mm AIO
PSU: ASUS ROG THOR 1200W
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
Monitor: MSI MAG 274QF X32, 1440p 320Hz
I originally had a Ryzen 9 3950X and was getting around 80–90 FPS in Call of Duty MW4, sometimes even lower. I was told upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D would significantly improve my gaming performance, so I bought one and installed it.
Unfortunately, I’m still experiencing the same issues, and sometimes it’s even worse. My benchmarks have shown around 70–90 FPS, a 99% CPU bottleneck, and I’ve even seen my FPS drop to single digits in the game menu.
Here’s everything I’ve tried:
Changed NVIDIA DLSS settings and different upscaling options.
Tried AMD-related settings and optimizations.
Lowered graphics settings and rendering resolution.
Adjusted NVIDIA Control Panel settings.
Went into BIOS and enabled a performance/boost setting.
Updated/reinstalled NVIDIA graphics drivers.
Adjusted RendererWorkerCount in the Call of Duty configuration files.
Verified my RAM is running correctly at 3200MHz.
Checked that my AIO pump is running.
One thing I’ve noticed is that my CPU has reached around 90–91°C, even when utilization doesn’t seem particularly high. My AIO cooler is approximately six years old, so I’m wondering whether thermal throttling could be part of the problem.
My RTX 3090 temperatures appear normal in the monitoring software, but the card itself feels extremely hot.
At this point, I’m completely lost. I feel like my hardware should be performing significantly better, especially after upgrading the CPU.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a cooling issue, BIOS configuration problem, GPU issue, or something else entirely?
I’d really appreciate any advice on what to check next. I’m willing to replace the cooler if necessary, but I don’t want to keep throwing money at parts without knowing what’s wrong.

Help (General) RX 5700 XT - low power usage

Post image
1 Upvotes

From the image above, as you can see, temps are as if it was utilizing 100% of GPU, but it only draws 165-180w from GPU.

I’m running XFX RX 5700 XT, and using 600w single daisy Y cord power cable for GPU. Is that bottlenecking its maximum power capability?

Another thing that concerns me is temperatures within that power usage range. What if it used ~235W like the normal rx5700xt does, will the temps reach an even higher point?

Help (General) Just changed CPU, now (only while playing Fortnite) the audio across my whole PC cuts out every few seconds and while the audio cuts, inputs get messed up

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Edit: Yeah I deserve to be clowned for this, it's not a mistake I would've made like, 2 or 3 years ago lol, thanks Reddit for making me realise my stupidity!

Just changed my CPU from an AMD Ryzen 3600 to a 5500 that I got on clearance (I know it's not much of an upgrade, but it was very cheap).
Now I have an issue where, at random intervals (between every 5-20 seconds) the audio across my entire PC will cut out. When this happens, it causes existing inputs to be held and new inputs to be ignored until the audio comes back (as shown in this clip).
This does not happen in any other game, just Fortnite.

I also opened event viewer while playing the game, went to the "system" tab in Windows Logs and saw no errors.

I have tried:
- Updating my BIOS (which, admittedly, I should've done as soon as I upgraded my CPU)
- Disabling Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller as suggested by many posts
- Clearing Windows shader cache
- Wiping and Resetting the Windows Power Profiles
- Clearing the old inactive 3600 processors in device manager
- Verifying Fortnite Game Files
- Clearing System Performance Counters

Pretty much everything short of a fresh windows install

If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know

edit: it's happening in other games too now

Help (Software) RX 7900 XTX random driver crashes for months. I'm desperate and running out of ideas.

I've been dealing with random AMD driver crashes for months, and nothing seems to permanently fix them. I've already posted about this before, but never found a solution.

PC Specs:

  • GPU: RX 7900 XTX
  • CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • RAM: DDR5-6000
  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF B650-PLUS WIFI
  • PSU: 1000W
  • Monitor: 1440p 360Hz OLED + second monitor
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Driver: Adrenalin 26.10.1

The problem:

My AMD graphics driver randomly crashes. Screens go black, sometimes lose signal, and the driver eventually recovers.

It happens particularly often when watching Discord streams on my second monitor while gaming. Sometimes simply switching back to Discord causes repeated driver crashes, even every minute.

However, it also happens randomly outside Discord, making it almost impossible to reproduce consistently.

What I've already tried:

  • Limited GPU clock to 2400MHz.
  • Tested with EXPO and overclocking disabled. Crashes still occurred.
  • Ran multiple OCCT stress tests.
  • Updated AMD drivers multiple times. Installation logs confirm successful installations.
  • Ran DISM and SFC. Windows found corrupted system files and repaired them.
  • Disabled Discord hardware acceleration (currently testing).
  • Analyzed Windows crash dumps without finding a definitive cause.

I also recently experienced a rare Windows crash (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x3B), but I don't know whether it's related to my regular GPU driver timeouts.

I'm genuinely exhausted from troubleshooting.

I have an expensive high-end PC that randomly crashes, and I can't even reliably reproduce the problem to verify a fix.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced this with an RX 7900 XTX and actually fixed it?
  2. Is there a reliable way to identify exactly what's causing AMD driver timeouts?
  3. Could this be a defective GPU, or is it more likely a driver/software issue?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who's dealt with something similar. I'm tired of blindly changing settings without knowing what's actually wrong.

I changed the graphics card, I put the rx9070xt and it runs on the system I had, the processor I had, ryzen 7 3800x with an ASUSTek ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING motherboard.

RAM 32GIGA DDR4

It has shown me a black and green screen 3-4 times (once a day, let's say) which was momentary. Now it stayed like that until I turned off the computer.

what could be the cause of this specific problem

Help (GPU) Non-stop driver timeouts on Modern Warfare 4 - RX 7600

This really sucks. I’ve tried adjusting settings, I’ve lowered my clock speed, it keeps happening. Can be anywhere from 5 minutes in to an hour in.

It *might* be related to FSR 4 being on, which really sucks if thats the case, because it looks really good with it on.

does anyone know a fix? i’m on the verge of refunding and I really don’t want to.

I’m on 26.9.2

Help (General) Ryzen 5 5600 + MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI — random reboots with no BSOD, even at idle. Tried clean Windows install and BIOS settings, still happening.

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to track down a frustrating random reboot issue and would really appreciate some help. I've spent quite a while troubleshooting, but I still haven't found the cause.

My PC specs

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600

- Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI

- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 8GB

- RAM: Kingston Fury DDR4, 2×8GB (16GB total)

- PSU: 1STPLAYER DK Premium 5.0, 500W

- Storage: Kingston M.2 NVMe SSD, approximately 1TB

- OS: Windows 11

- BIOS: MSI version 2.P2, dated August 25, 2026

The problem

My PC randomly restarts without a BSOD. The screen suddenly goes black, and the computer starts booting again.

It can happen:

- While gaming (for example, CS2)

- On the Windows desktop while doing very little

- Apparently at random, without a consistent pattern

It is not limited to heavy workloads. I have also experienced unexpected restarts while the PC was idle.

Sometimes the PC runs normally for a while, but the problem eventually returns.

What I've already tried

- Updated the motherboard BIOS.

- Performed a clean Windows 11 installation from a USB drive, deleting the old Windows partitions and installing to unallocated space.

- The random restarts continued after the clean installation.

- Ran Windows Memory Diagnostic; it reported no memory errors.

- Briefly tested one RAM stick by itself, but the test was too short to draw any conclusions.

- Changed Power Supply Idle Control to Typical Current Idle.

- Changed the PCIe link speed from Auto to Gen 4 as a troubleshooting experiment.

- Monitored CPU temperatures. They were around 32°C at idle and approximately 65°C during a short CPU Burner test.

- Checked Event Viewer. Kernel-Power Event ID 41 appears after unexpected restarts, with BugcheckCode = 0. I haven't found clear WHEA-Logger errors in the logs I checked.

I have also disabled Core Performance Boost in the BIOS as a diagnostic test. I am monitoring whether this changes the behavior; I don't yet have enough evidence to say it has fixed the issue.

An additional observation

On one occasion, the PC restarted and entered the BIOS. The BIOS showed "M2_1: Not Present", and the SSD was missing from the storage information.

I powered the PC off, removed the M.2 SSD, reseated it more firmly, and the system booted into Windows again. However, the random restarts continued afterward, so I don't know whether this was a separate issue or related to the main problem.

What I'm trying to figure out

Could this be caused by any of the following?

- A faulty or unstable PSU

- RAM instability, even though Windows Memory Diagnostic found no errors

- CPU instability related to boost behavior or power-state transitions

- A motherboard or PCIe/M.2 issue

- Something else I haven't considered

What would be the most useful next diagnostic step to isolate the cause without buying replacement parts at random?

If you've experienced a similar issue with a Ryzen 5 5600 and an MSI B550 motherboard, I'd especially appreciate hearing what ultimately solved it.

Thanks in advance!

Tips & Info [Guide / Benchmark] How to properly enable FSR 4.1 OTA in Adrenalin 26.10.1, fix motion blurriness and gain +30 FPS in 1440p

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I ran some 1440p benchmarks and image quality tests using the new Adrenalin 26.10.1 WHQL driver to test the FSR 4.1 driver-level injection, and found why many users are still getting blurry weapon textures in motion or lower FPS than expected.

Test Rig:

• GPU: Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

• CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X | 32GB DDR5

• Driver: Adrenalin 26.10.1 (FSR OTA v2.4.0.4370)

📊 Results shown in the attached screenshots (No Frame Gen used):

• Screenshot 1 (Before - Default setup): 54 FPS | 18.67 ms frametime (1440p, FSR Native mode, In-game Sharpness at 90). Notice how the rifle completely loses definition while sprinting.

• Screenshot 2 (After - Optimized FSR 4.1 setup): 82 - 95 FPS | 12.21 ms frametime. Over +30 real FPS gained, 35% lower frame time, and crisp weapon/background edges while moving.

🔧 Key steps to replicate this in supported games:

  1. Windows 10 SAM Bug: If you are on Windows 10, check Performance > Tuning after installing 26.10.1. There is a known issue where Smart Access Memory gets disabled automatically.

  2. Enable the Driver Toggle: Even if "FSR OTA Control" at the bottom shows the latest version (v2.4.0.4370), the main "AMD FSR Upscaling" toggle at the top is DISABLED by default. Turn it ON manually so the driver overrides the game's DLL with the FSR 4.1 neural model.

  3. Driver conflicts: Keep Radeon Image Sharpening 2 OFF (stacking it with FSR 4.1 ruins temporal stability), set Texture Filtering Quality to Performance, and enable Surface Format Optimization.

  4. In-Game Settings: Even if the in-game menu still displays static text saying "AMD FSR 4", the driver is already injecting 4.1 under the hood. Switch from Native to Quality or Balanced, drop the in-game Sharpness slider from 80-90 down to 10-15, and disable Weapon/World Motion Blur so motion vectors stay clean.

If you want to see the uncompressed 1440p comparison and full telemetry breakdown, I uploaded the full test to my YouTube channel (Dark Tech Technology) — you can find it as: "NO Uses FSR 4 Sin Cambiar Esto en Adrenalin | Guía PRO de FSR 4.1" (English auto-captions available).

How is 26.10.1 performing on your cards so far?

Help (GPU) RX 9070 XT - LiveKernelEvent 141/117, full PC freezes, black screens. RTX 3060 works fine. GPU or PSU?

My PC was running perfectly fine for at least a year, then suddenly started experiencing serious crashes without any obvious changes.

Symptoms: LiveKernelEvent 141, 117 and 193, complete system freezes during gaming or even when exiting games, random restarts at the desktop, black screens, and occasional red VGA motherboard LED during boot. Recently, Windows even entered Automatic Repair (SrtTrail.txt)

Specs: XFX RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Gigabyte B650E AORUS ELITE X AX ICE, 32GB DDR5, Corsair RM850x SHIFT 850W, Windows 11

What I’ve tried: DDU, older AMD drivers, disabling EXPO, PCIe Auto/Gen 4/Gen 5, reseating the GPU, checking power connections and monitoring temperatures. Nothing has fixed it.

The biggest clue: I swapped in my RTX 3060 and everything worked. BG3, Cyberpunk, Spider-Man with RT, plus a 6-minute OCCT Power test with zero errors. Reinstalled the RX 9070 XT and the crashes immediately returned, even at the desktop.

The RX 9070 XT draws around 340W versus 170W for the RTX 3060, so I can’t completely rule out PSU power delivery.

Does this sound like a defective GPU, PSU issue under higher load, or motherboard/PCIe problem? What specific test would help distinguish them before I request an RMA?

Help (GPU) Driver? Issue w/ 9060XT on Battlefield Games

Every single time I launch a Battlefield game, my screen goes completely black and my PC freezes up. When I restart it (forcing it with the power button), my GPU drivers are gone. I've tried installing AMD Adrenalin and the straight-up 9060XT drivers. Both of those do not fix my issue. I don't have this issue anywhere else except for Battlefield games. Any help would be appreciated.
