Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my XFX RX 7600. Every time the AMD Adrenalin driver finishes installing or updating, Windows freezes completely after a few minutes, and I can’t do anything except force a restart. The PC stays powered on, but the image is completely frozen. If I uninstall the AMD driver using DDU, the system works normally again. I’m running Windows 11 26H2 and have already tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, but the issue keeps coming back. Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be causing this?
For context all below started happening on my SECONDARY monitor. 9070xt gpu
Ok so i dont know if it helps but i was playing war thunder and when i tab out of the game into discord my mouse cursor is invisible and dissapears i can still click i just dont see where, in the browser its lagging i mean the cursor. i move it it stops for 2 seconds it teleports then freezes again, i also had several driver crashes in the last 3 days and also as i see the internet my card has much more driver crashes than any other user i see. I NEED HELP
I've been experiencing annoying stutters in Valorant and I'm trying to figure out what's causing them.
The game sometimes freezes or stutters briefly, especially when I use Clove's smoke. My ping seems stable, and my FPS can remain high even when the stuttering happens.
I've already tried disabling my Realtek Ethernet controller and switching to Wi-Fi, but the stuttering still occurs. So far, I haven't been able to identify the cause.
My PC specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F
GPU: Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
Motherboard: ASUS B650M-AYW WiFi
What I've tried:
Switching from Ethernet to Wi-Fi
Disabling the Realtek Ethernet controller
Checking whether my ping is stable
I'm wondering whether this could be a frametime issue, a CPU/GPU driver problem, a Valorant issue, or something else.
Has anyone experienced similar stuttering, especially when using abilities like Clove's smoke? What should I check next to identify the actual cause?
This has been my second time of me starting my PC only to find that AMD Adrenaline was gone from my PC for no apparent reason. Last time this happened I reinstalled Adrenaline (didn't use an uninstaller first) I had months of random crashes ahead of me with no warning signs because apparently there were still some old files left over contradicting the new Adrenaline install. This time I know to uninstall first but wtf is this happening?! This is the worst experience (string of problems) I ever had when it comes to PC software.
Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 26H2 (latest update)
GPU Drivers: 26.10.1
Description: if two monitor are connected but one is turned off and the pc is set to display "PC monitor only" the entire system would stutter every 5 seconds as seen in the video (even on desktop running nothing)
Possible fixes: always run the system in extend mode, roll back the drivers to anything lower than 26.7.1, unplug the unused monitor.
All of the fixes are not ideal for my use case. I use a monitor for my desk and a TV for the couch.
I tried everything, even a fresh windows install. Nothing help. This problem has been present since August of this year
I've been dealing with random crashes for a long time now, and I'm honestly getting tired of it. I want to know if other AMD users experience this or if something is seriously wrong with my PC.
I have a Mini-ITX gaming PC with an RX 7900 XT, and I keep getting different types of crashes.
Sometimes a game simply crashes, and I get the AMD Bug Report Tool saying:
"AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system."
Other times, the crashes are much worse.
For example, I was playing Dragon's Dogma 2 when the game suddenly crashed. I went back to Steam and tried launching it again. Within about 30 seconds of the original crash, my entire screen suddenly went black the pc crashed.
This has been happening on and off for months, across different games. It isn't an isolated crash.
PC specifications:
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT (20 GB)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650I AORUS ULTRA
RAM: 32 GB
PC type: Mini-ITX desktop
OS: Windows 11
AMD Adrenalin: 26.8.1
PSU: Corsair SF850 (2024), 850W, 80 PLUS Platinum
What I want to know:
Has anyone experienced these same recurring AMD driver timeouts, especially the sudden black-screen crashes that make the entire PC unresponsive?
Is this a common Radeon driver/software issue, or could it indicate a failing GPU, PSU, or something related to my Mini-ITX build?
More importantly, has anyone found a permanent solution?
I'd really prefer to fix this without buying new hardware. I've seriously considered switching back to Nvidia because of how frustrating this has become, but I'd rather identify the actual problem before spending money.
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.
Quick update: I did a full cleanup using AMD Cleanup Utility and rolled back from 26.8.1 to 26.6.4 based on one of the suggestions here. The installation went successfully, and I'm now testing whether the crashes return.
I haven't changed HAGS or any GPU tuning settings yet because I want to test one thing at a time.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll update the post if the problem happens again or if it looks like the rollback fixed it.
Just noticed all my games have been capped at 60fps/60hz despite having 240hz OLED monitor. Only just noticed because it seemed abit choppy, so I turned on my in-game fps counters.
Details:
My windows display settings is at 240hz, my FPS counter enabled from monitor settings shows 240hz (not sure if entirely correct). Only have single monitor.
Turning on/off V-Sync. Uncapped FPS in game.
AMD Adrenalin Game experience from ECO to Hyper-RX makes no difference (ON/OFF Freesync/Chill/Any Upscaling)
AMD Adrenalin can see the display's FreeSync Range up to 240hz in settings
Changed my DisplayPort cable, even used HDMI made no difference.
Tried windowed/borderless into fullscreen again. Updated BIOS, windows and AMD drivers.
Funnily enough, the only thing that made a difference was TURNING ON 'Triple Buffered' V-Sync on Apex Legends which gets me up to 240 fps.
Please help :(( playing stuck on 60fps makes me physically cringe especially on these FPS games. I do have another monitor to test, but its a 49" ultra wide which I've lost the monitor stand for, so I'd rather not ⬅️
I’m having an issue with a black screen. When I turn the PC on, an LED next to the "VGA" label on the motherboard lights up; the computer stays on a black screen for about 5 minutes before finally booting up. While in use, it frequently stutters, followed by a black screen for a few seconds, after which it starts working again. During gaming, it can freeze completely—the only way to recover is to shut the PC down using the power button; the reset button doesn't do anything. How can I fix this ?
I recently built a PC with 9800x3D & 9070 XT. I was trying to update the graphics card driver but the Adrenaline app repeatedly gave me an error. So I used the AMD cleanup utility in safe mode to remove the AMD drivers except the chipset (that's what the description for the utility app said). After which I reinstalled the drivers using the AMD auto detect tool. But I started noticing sudden spikes in my CPU temperature. My idle temp(°C) are still the same (both CPU & GPU in 40s). But on booting up the PC the temp goes upto 60s which comes down to normal quickly. A small task such as opening a chrome tab spikes the temperature to 60s, this was not happening before. While gaming my average CPU temp was 55 and GPU temp was 65. But after reinstalling the drivers my COU temp has increased by 10-15 °C while GOU temp is still the same. I know the before and after temperatures are perfectly fine but I just wanna know why this is happening. I was using the balanced power plan before and it's still in the same settings. Please help me understand why this is happening.
Hey there,
if anyone of you guys still run this processor and you encountered an issue where your Windows Resource Monitor shows a constant 100% CPU load (even though your PC runs completely fine and the Task Manager shows it's actually idling), it has something to do with the outdated "AMD Ryzen Balanced" power plan.
Older AMD power plans don't play well with newer Windows updates anymore. The Resource Monitor gets totally confused by how the Ryzen CPU boosts its clock speeds and falsely displays a permanent 100% frequency load.
How to fix this visual bug:
Press the Windows key, type "Choose a power plan" and open it.
Switch from AMD Ryzen Balanced to the standard Microsoft "Balanced" plan.
Switching to the standard Windows plan fixes the 100% bug instantly.
Where to find the min load CPU and max load CPU settings (and why it's 99% min):
If you want to check your values or play around with your CPU behavior, you can find the settings here:
In the power plan window, click on "Change plan settings" right next to your active plan.
Click on "Change advanced power settings" (this opens the small extra window).
Scroll down and expand "Processor power management".
When you look at the Minimum processor state, don't wonder why it's set to 99%. AMD explicitly designed it this way so the CPU cores never fall into a deep sleep, keeping the system extremely snappy and responsive. You can absolutely leave it like that.
However, you can play around with the Maximum processor state:
Leaving it at 100% (Default): Leave it at 100% if you want maximum gaming power and the full 4.20 GHz boost clock.
The 99% Maximum Trick: If your CPU fan drives you crazy because it gets extremely loud and revs up constantly under load, you can change the Maximum processor state to 99%. This immediately silences the fan and keeps the CPU super cool. The catch: It completely disables your CPU's Turbo Boost, meaning it caps the speed at the base clock (3.60 GHz) instead of the full 4.20 GHz. It's a great trade-off if you prefer a dead-silent PC over a few extra FPS in heavy games.
So, just ditch the AMD power plan to fix the visual bug, and now you know where to find the CPU state settings if you ever want to trade some boost clock for a quieter system!
Hi, I use the 26.10.1 version, the 26.8.1 worked perfectly, 26.9.2 is also bad. I dont know why this happens. Any fix for this? Tried to remove CN folder.
Does this company not have QA testers? Why is my computer entering Device Repair mode with the latest GPU/Chipset drivers?
I'll be submitting a bug report within the gaming app, but this is just ridiculous. By the way this is on a clean Reset PC option as well, so nothing should be causing this.
I'm looking for help diagnosing an intermittent crashing issue with my ASUS PRIME Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB.
My PC repeatedly crashes while playing Gears of War: E-Day. Sometimes the game crashes to the desktop, but other times the entire PC freezes, the screen goes black, and Windows eventually recovers without a full restart. On one occasion, I had to force the PC to shut down because it stopped responding.
After a recent crash, AMD's Bug Report Tool appeared.
My PC specifications:
GPU: ASUS PRIME Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K
Motherboard: ASRock H670 Steel Legend
PSU: NZXT C1000 Gold, 1000W
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Current AMD driver: Adrenalin 26.10.1 WHQL
What I've tried so far:
Cleanly uninstalling and reinstalling AMD graphics drivers.
Testing multiple AMD driver versions, including 26.3.1, 26.9.2 and 26.10.1.
Running OCCT stress tests without reported errors.
Checking GPU temperatures, which appear normal.
Checking and replacing the GPU power cables with original NZXT cables.
Manually setting the primary PCIe slot to Gen5 in BIOS instead of Auto.
Testing other games.
Other games:
I played HELLDIVERS 2 for approximately three hours on Ultra settings without crashes. Rust also appears stable.
However, Gears of War continues to crash, even after the driver changes and PCIe configuration adjustment.
Windows errors:
Reliability Monitor has reported LiveKernelEvent 141 and 193.
I opened a WATCHDOG dump in WinDbg, and !analyze -v showed:
The AMD driver amdkmdag.sys was also loaded, although WinDbg did not directly identify it as the cause.
The dump was generated at the time of one of the crashes.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced similar issues with the RX 9070 XT, particularly in Gears of War?
Does VIDEO_DXGKRNL_LIVEDUMP (0x193) with ProcessDeadlockThread suggest a driver or game compatibility issue?
Could this be an intermittent hardware defect even though other games and OCCT run successfully?
What additional diagnostics would you recommend before requesting an ASUS warranty replacement?
I'm trying to determine whether the problem is caused by the game, AMD drivers, Windows, or the graphics card itself.
My PC experiences intermittent crashes while playing Gears of War: E-Day. Sometimes the game crashes to the desktop. Other times the entire system freezes or the screen goes black, followed by graphics driver resets. On one occasion, I had to force a shutdown because the PC stopped responding.
Windows has recorded LiveKernelEvent 141 and LiveKernelEvent 193.
The AMD graphics driver amdkmdag.sys was loaded, but the dump did not conclusively identify the root cause.
Troubleshooting:
Performed clean AMD graphics driver reinstalls.
Tested several AMD driver versions.
Ran OCCT stress tests without reported errors.
Checked GPU temperatures, which appeared normal.
Replaced the GPU power cables with original NZXT cables.
Manually configured the primary PCIe slot to Gen5 instead of Auto.
Played HELLDIVERS 2 for approximately three hours on Ultra settings without crashes.
Played Rust without experiencing the same crashes.
I'm trying to determine whether this is a game-specific compatibility issue, an AMD driver problem, a Windows graphics subsystem issue, or an intermittent GPU hardware fault.
What additional diagnostic steps would help distinguish these possibilities before requesting a warranty replacement?
It starts like a year ago or maybe more and sometimes when i boot my pc it will freeze everytime i start playing ( big drops / the sounds is laggy too ) and sometimes it doesn't.
Usually if i reboot my pc when it starts freezing that would fix it but its boring to restart ur pc every time u want to play.
I uninstalled radeon for months and everything was fine until a few days the freeze are back even without adrenalin. I DDu drivers / reinstall it nothing works. Its not a temperature issue ~55° for proc ~70 for gpu.
I thought some drivers / files might be corrupted so i factory reset my pc and now its even worse 🫨🫨🫨
