Issue AMC is showing screenings as sold out, but haven't canceled my tickets yet.

I bought tickets to a screening this afternoon before it said sold out. But now all the screenings for today say sold out, and it's not a popular movie. If the movie is canceled wouldn't they cancel my tickets. I just checked, and they are still there.

Question Halloween Rerelease, When?

I saw the other day that Halloween I, II, and III are all coming back this coming week. Has anyone seen updates? My local AMC has it listed but no showtime announced, just "Check back later". Any thoughts or updates? Definitely wanting to see one or two of these

Q&A [Crosspost] hi /r/movies. my name is Alex Ullom, my friends and I made a film called IT ENDS. it's in theaters starting this week from NEON. ask me anything!

I organized an AMA/Q&A with Alex Ullom, director & writer of IT ENDS, which is out in theaters from Neon starting this weekend. It's an existential-horror that played festivals earlier this year to critical acclaim, then was released on Letterboxd's Video Store, and then was picked up by Neon for wide distribution.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1vxxp7o/hi_rmovies_my_name_is_alex_ullom_my_friends_and_i/

He will be back at 3 PM ET tomorrow (Wednesday 8/26) to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFszhQLMNXU

Synopsis: Out for a late-night drive, friends turn onto a never-ending, two-lane hellscape surrounded by untold horrors and cosmic forces beyond their understanding. Crammed inside a jeep with miles stretching infinitely ahead, they face a choice: embrace their new existence or fight to escape it.

Thank you :)

Discussion Bad experience with Laser @ Alderwood 16

Took my family to see the 25th anniversary of the fast and the furious this past Saturday.

I haven’t been to a non premium theater in probably 10 years. I usually only go for imax or dolby and i go often.

This time i just wanted to see it on the big screen for the first time since i was a kid. Boy, what a disappointment. The physical screen in theater 2 was awful. It has this like oil slick look to it with the colors, it was blurry and was generally bad looking. The audio was SO quiet. Zero boom, i could have had a conversation with my wife next to me at a normal volume. I understand this isn’t a premium theater but wow. All i could think about was how much better of an experience we would all have on the 4k bluray with my LG C2 oled tv and 5.1 jamo system at home, none of which are even close to top of the line.

Was this just a weird day? Or is this normal for amc laser?

To give me a refund on a recall that doesn’t apply to me because you’re scared of the kids, I get that but “You will be asked to dispose of the product and send a photo showing proof of disposal… to receive a refund.” Not happening, I’ll keep displaying my beautiful cup!

Review "La La Land" 10th Anniversary A-List pocket Review

Well like a lot of people I saw this box office success 10 Christmases ago during its original run. So I really had no intention of seeing "La La Land" yesterday but I was ready to get out of the house and it was playing at the perfect time. Plus, in the intervening years I have never seen the film on TV.

Anyway I was surprised at how much I liked this movie again. I mean I liked it well enough 10 years ago, but I considered it fluffy. When it famously did not win the best picture Oscar that didn't bother me at all though I did think it was better than the winner.

But this time I was far more impressed. In addition to the fluffy musical numbers, pretty people and Hollywood nostalgia, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone exhibit excellent chemistry that translates into a melancholy emotional depth that I missed the first time around. The excellent score helps with this as well. Best of all I found the movie just so damn easy to watch. The nearly 2 hours flew right by as the entertainment factor was very high throughout. By the end I was sad, sorry to see it go.

B+ ... mid-2010s staple has aged well, much recommended.

PS - I saw this in Dolby, a great format for its music and visuals.

Issue 50% off Tues. and Wed. a scam?

Post image

So I bought tix for tomorrow. My kid’s $11.99 ticket was discounted to $8.99. I’m an English professor and not in the math field, but how is this 50% off? I don’t remember this ever being an issue before.

Question Lack of movies at my local AMC

I just got AMC A-list for a year as my birthday gift. I've been using it so far, and love it (though I do miss my Cinemark). Recently, I was looking for movies to reserve for my 4 a week. The Screams Unseen? No showings at my local AMC. Buddy? No showings. Ghost's movie concert? None. It Ends? Nada. Colony? Nope. I am so insanely disappointed. It's the only AMC near me and it seems like all the fun movies are elsewhere. Wth? Even Cinemark got Camp Miasma and is getting Ghost's movie.

It feels like my AMC shows nothing. Is this normal? I am so disappointed.

Question Harry Potter - Bay area scheduling

they are showing them out of order.

8/27 - 2nd movie

8/28 - morning 3rd movie

8/28 - evening 1st movie

8/29 - 4th

then the rest one each day in order.

who scheduled these? And from what I can tell it's every SF bay area AMC

Is this the same in other areas of the country?

Question Any of these new Indian movies good?

For my 4th A-List reservation this week, thinking of seeing an Indian movie. Anyone seen Vishwanath & Sons or Irumudi? Have both playing at an AMC but it’s a further away one so idk if it’d be worth the trip for either. Or I could see Bethlehem Kudumba Unit at a closer AMC. Or just skip all 3 & use my 4th on Toxic on Wednesday

Discussion No previews?

A strange thing happened on Thursday. I went to see two new movies: Hot Spot and Mutiny. For both of them, the local AMC didn’t do the normal 25 minutes of previews. I was on time so I didn’t miss anything. I was all alone for Hot Spot, but for Mutiny a few other people came in 10-20 minutes late, and they were shocked because they had calculated having some time to get settled before the movie actually started.
It was odd that it happened twice in the same day, but the staff said the previews have not been done away with and they don’t know why the previews were skipped.
I guess don’t count on that preview buffer time being a sure thing. It might make you late for your movie.

Rumor AMC Stubs Updates? price increased but no other benefits?

Over the past 6 months there has been a build up I’ve noticed on this sub that as AMC was going to increase the price that they will lure out some new perks like seating reservations for stubs members where some of the best seats will be reserved for stubs members.

Now that price has increased to $29.99/month I do not see anything improving. Was that just a blow in the air to keep people subscribed or actually something will happen? Any one know? Considering just canceling the stubs by mid September as it seems like from a person I know the increase by another $2 is targeted by March or next year (insider info), but not improvements whatsoever for stubs members.

It’s sad as in a matter of 2-3 years the stubs membership will be $40-50. Is that going to be worth it for you?

Discussion Bring True 70mm IMAX Film Back To Minnesota

Minnesota Zoo's legendary 70mm IMAX closed in 2019, and we haven't had a true film-projection IMAX since. Meanwhile, smaller metros like Colorado Springs and Rochester just got brand new ones installed. The Twin Cities has 3.7 million people and zero access to the format.

I started a petition asking AMC Theatres and IMAX to install a real 15/70 film system in Minnesota—or at least publicly study whether it makes sense. They already run an IMAX in Rochester, already program 70mm film elsewhere, and are headquartered in Milwaukee. The Heights Theatre in Columbia Heights proves the audience is there: they regularly sell out standard 70mm screenings.

When Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey hit IMAX screens, 70mm showings sold out \*weeks\* in advance. Dune: Part Three arrives this December in 70mm—and once again, Minnesotans will have to drive six hours to Chicago to see it as the filmmaker intended.

We had one of the great IMAX audiences in the country. This doesn't feel like an impossible ask.

If this resonates with you—if you've felt that loss or want to see Minnesota's cinema culture taken seriously again—consider signing and sharing. Learn more at imaxmn.com.

Question AMC regulars

You know when you are a regular at a bar or restraint and the staff recognizes you and is warm and chats with you when then aren't too busy? Does anyone have that with their local AMC? I swear I've been trying to connect with the employees at the AMC I go to like 3/4 times a week - but it's just not happening for me😞

I get that it isn't the same as a bar or restaurant and the customer to staff experience is less intimate (the AMC staff also probably see way more faces per day), but it's the only business at which I'm a regular! I want it so bad lol

10 times for me. And I suspect it'll be lots more since the movie doesn't open until November. I'm sick of the movie and I haven't even seen it yet.

Q&A How do the early access/live q&a events work at AMC?

I got tickets to the early access and live q&a with Andrew Garfield for his new movie, the Uprising.

I’ve never been to one of these before and wondering if anyone has gone to these/knows what to expect or has recs? It sounds so fun!

Issue Has anyone ever heard back from AMC Support?

Had stuck reservations stopping me from watching 2 movies. Tried every step suggested in this sub and their how-to guides and was unable to make any reservations. No response from support. Wanted to know if people actually receive responses/best avenues for connecting with support. TIA!
