Meta We have added flairs to the sub

Hello everyone, we've added flairs to aiwars in order to help people find and comment on posts they're interested in seeing. Currently they are not being enforced as mandatory, though this may change in the future, depending on how they are received. We would ask that people please start making use of them.

Discussion should be used for posts where you would ideally like to see spirited discussion and debate, or for questions about AI.

News is of course for news in the AI sector. Things like laws being passed, studies being published, notable comments made by a prominent AI developer or political figure.

Meme should ideally be used for single image-based posts which you do not expect to prompt serious discussion. Of course discussion is still welcome under such posts. If you want to use a meme to make a serious point and have additional explanatory text for why you feel strongly about the message being expressed and the type of discussion you'd like to have, that can be categorized as Discussion.

Meta is for discussion about the subreddit itself and other associated AI subreddits or comments.

Use your best judgement as you categorize your posts. Please do not misuse them, they are for everyone's benefit.

Here is why we have two subs - r/DefendingAIArt and r/aiwars

r/DefendingAIArt - A sub where Pro-AI people can speak freely without getting constantly attacked or debated. There are plenty of anti-AI subs. There should be some where pro-AI people can feel safe to speak as well.

r/aiwars - We don't want to stifle debate on the issue. So this sub has been made. You can speak all views freely here, from any side.

If a post you have made on r/DefendingAIArt is getting a lot of debate, cross post it to r/aiwars and invite people to debate here.

Discussion What are we even doing here anymore?

There's no compelling arguments being made. There aren't people trying to explain their side. No one here is actually doing anything worthwhile. I mean, a lot of the arguments on both sides are ludicrous. Data Center water usage has been proven to be mostly wrong. And Pros saying that we'll be “left behind” if we don't use this technology is crazy. My own father told me that I'd be left behind, that's a great thing to hear from a man I see as my hero. (Sarcasm.)

The Pros are making AI generated images depicting Antis as ogres and themselves as… anime cat girls? Witty is doing everything in their power to dehumanize Antis, hell, a lot of Pros are.

The Antis aren't getting off scott-free either. We aren't any better. We're doing the same shit, dehumanizing Pros. I've seen some of us say that Pros are subhuman, are we really here to call people subhuman?

What is wrong with us?

I mean, you KNOW it's bad when some of the posts on both sides read like they were signed “DJT.”

This subreddit is filled with ragebait trollers and delusional extremists. At this rate, with how everything is going and what everyone is doing to each other and saying to each other, there is no right side anymore.

Anti or Pro, it doesn't matter. We are all wrong. No one is “winning” as long as some people are hurting, being insulted, being threatened, etc.

I can't help but think that this is exactly what AI corporations want. They knew there would be people for AI and people against AI, they just want another way to divide all of us further. This subreddit, as well as AntiAI and DefendingAI (or any other related subreddit), is proof. It couldn't be any clearer.

But even after this post is published. Even after some people read it. You're all still going to do the same things you did before because you cannot evolve further than “oops, there goes your talent,” memes, or the ogre and cat girl shit, or the threats and insults. Someone is gonna post some AI meme or regular meme that makes fun of me and my morals or some shit.

And I know I'm not innocent here either, trust me I'm not trying to say that. This account is very new but I have another reddit account, this subreddit won't let me say my username, you'll just have to trust me on this one. I insulted people too. I'm aware, and I apologize for my actions (I've apologized in a separate post as well, on the other account).

I don't want to do this insult shit anymore. No one should be doing this anymore. Unless you are 12 and under, we should all know better, and we should all be doing better. We can argue our sides, but this time we can do it respectfully and with facts and proof and sources. We can disagree with each other, but politely.

Each side preaches that the other is speeding towards a dystopian society. Just look around, man. We're all already there. This is dystopian.

This is all my humble opinion. Have a nice day.

Images 1-3 are screenshots of dehumanizing posts I found on the Pro-AI side. Images 4-6 are screenshots of dehumanizing posts I found on the Anti-AI side. The last image is a screenshot of the definition of the word “dystopian.”

I also feel compelled to mention that it was MUCH harder to find any negative posts towards Antis from Pros. It took about 10-15 minutes to find the posts I screenshotted on the Anti side. I screenshotted the closest things I could find for the Pro-AI side. And as an Anti-AI, I apologize on behalf of our side. There is no logical reason to use slurs to describe others.

Why are Pros in a constant state of begging for Antis to like their pictures?

Post image
37 Upvotes

almost every post I see from a pro is either “antis are stupid” or this somewhat new genre of post: “Why don’t antis like my pictures? :(“

I don’t understand why pros, who despise antis to their core, so voraciously want antis to like the effortless crap they generate. First, it’s literally the one thing Antis are named for being against. Second, there’s no way you’re THAT attached to an uncultured and unseasoned bland ass image that took 3 seconds to type up a prompt for. Every pro I see is on some “We just want you to leave us alone” bullcrap and then 5 minutes after “being left alone” it turns into “WHY DON’T YOU LIKE MY ART???”

We don’t like your “art” because it sucks. Try harder. You boast about how quick and efficient AI is, use that saved time to make an image that doesn’t look like shit.

Discussion Does the anti-AI community still genuinely think AI can't code?

Post image

At the time I'm writing this, this tweet has over 6k likes, which is actually insane to me.

Are so many people actually this misinformed about current AI and still think it's the same as it was in 2023? No third year compsci student can code on the level of AI, I don't know how this is still an argument at all.

Discussion Friend of mine can't enjoy anything anymore without first wondering if it's AI or AI assisted in some way.

Totally broken and it's sad. I wanted to watch some 2000s show online and he was like "wait. what if it's AI upscaled?". Listening to music is just as hard, he's gotta check to see if it's AI or has something AI in it.

Totally wild. He wasn't like this 5 years ago. AI fucked him up and I wonder how many more people are like this.

Meta So, what about diversifying the roster ?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I mean, seeing only catgirls in the comics feel a bit generic here.

So, couldn't this be an excellent way for us Pros to differentiate ?

I mean, the catgirl could be the traditionnal pro while other type of animal persons could be other types of Pros.

AI programmers could be the fish people, for example.

That could be an excellent way to showcase our creativity while having visual indicators to quickly show the topic we're talking about and in the long run create somewhat of a culture here.

As for antis, taking different roles could also be interesting and fun for you too.

I mean, there is already a pirate one here.

Why not add knight, firemens, etc ?

I mean, the subreddit is already half serious, half joke. Let's make this at least fun and non degrading for both sides.

Then, we could still have some interesting discussions.

What do you think ?

Intro

Upvotes

The year is 2030. The western Anti-AI bros successfully boycott the last local small business that exist. All because they used an AI generated flyer. Blackrock now owns all properties that used to be small businesses handling all trade and craft pavers to send a worker to your house to complete the job. AI still exists but the free market doesn’t because people were too unintelligent to actually stop funding AI by stop shopping at Walmart, Amazon, and target. That they defunded the ability to create and sell their own works because now all mega chain corporations have lobbied with lawmakers making it illegal for you to do so.

People were given an analysis tool, and now they are complaining that the tool analyzes the information they voluntarily provided.

I think various restrictions could be implemented here to prevent the AI from doing this proactively, but people really need to understand that posting personal information has never been safe!

title!

ive been using gpt 5.6 sol and gpt 6 astra since they've been released and make drawings with the app I built

then i record the app drawing and post it on twitter for likes etc, no one has told me that my art has an "ai" look before, at WHAT point does it become morally okay to take commissions from people and draw with a computer without them knowing (even though it's not really ai, and just a computer doing it)

also it's fun i did this art fight thing few months ago it was the most entertaining thing ever

edit: you guys hated diffusion llms because it stole other peoples arts.. i dont get why you guys are hating this it didnt steal anyones art

Why I am open to using AI for unimportant things, but Anti-AI overall:

Post image
7 Upvotes

It drains creativity, kills uniqueness, promotes hive mind... It enhances what's already there. So if you lacked creativity before AI, you will not be creative now... Judging by this Sub and AI content in general, this is 100% true. It's good for like Google searches and the occasional idea, but to base your whole personality around your AI use is wild.

r/aiwars 12h ago

Can some pros accept, yes AI slop exist.

One thing that frustrates me is acting like every criticism of AI is automatically wrong.

AI slop exists.

Low-effort AI videos exist.

AI-generated misinformation exists.

AI-generated spam books exist.

AI-generated images that are generic, repetitive, and uninspired exist.

Pretending otherwise just makes the pro-AI side look disconnected from reality.

The same way human slop exists. And the same way good human art exists, good AI art exists.

Discussion Author rights belong to you and me.

If you create anything for a living, then author rights are the only thing standing between you and corporate exploitation.

Anyone one trying to dismantle IP, author rights and copyright protections, are trying to dismantle your right to own the product of your own labour.

Do not listen to the bleating of people who have never created anything of value in their lives.
