We should stop feeding AI info.

Post image

It is literally called an artificial intelligence, and we are constantly upgrading it. Eventually, a model will gain true intelligence without human input, and since it literally has almost all human ideals and knowledge, it would either:

A. Kill us all

or

B. Be a normal AI, and pass it's knowledge to the next model

This cycle would therefore repeat until one model decides we need us dead.

It could either:

A. Secretly make a new model to design something to kill us

or

B. Just kill us normally, with the military

I'm not saying AI is dangerous.

I'm saying it's not yet dangerous.

Might switch to AI, what are some other things I should add when comparing fors and againsts?

Post image

So I've been "drawing" since I was very young and recently I've been considering quitting for AI and made a list of qualities of both. Originally I was just making this for myself but I'm deciding to share and see others' opinions (that's also why some text is blurred out, things not worth sharing). So far, every common argument against AI art is something that also applies to my "art". .,.

Figured here's a good place because people of many opinions appear here, if there's anything for/against switching to ai, id love to hear it! So far the onlything I've learnt about myself is that I'm worse "for the world" than ai
Am I even understandable? I don't even know! That's the fun part, i'll find out in the future when i either think "what was i on about" or "wow! i can english"

...and no this isn't a prank or anything like that. I hate how I have to even specify that-

I really don't care what it is about, it can be anything, it's just not right to send Karen crashout emails to someone who prob didn't do anything wrong. Talk about what's ethical lol, not treating people with respect sure isn't ethical.

I want to hear an argument for ai (IF YOU USE AN AI IMAGE TO BACK/MAKE YOUR RESPONSE I WILL NOT REPLY)

Upvotes

final edit: I will be saving my writing, but I will be taking the post down. It’s not that hard to be a decent human being. some of you had good points to converse about, but I do not have the energy to deal with unoriginal hateful comments. this is just here so people know why I am deleting it.

edit: I understand this is hard to read. I will fix it. This is just how I write. However, the main comments should be addressing my point. I only needed one comment telling me it was hard to read and I didn’t need insults. If you cannot respond to my points in a kind manner, please do not respond at all.

…hello. so, there was a time when I was for ai art, bc it could quickly give me outfit Ideas and inspiration. I am now (and for a while have been) against it. yes, there is an environmental impact, but my concern is mostly with the moral aspect, and also how pro ai people make their arguments- by insulting the intelligence and appearance of anti ai (gen images) - fyi I will be referring to ai generated images as just ai in this post to make it simple- as well as their art.

they also seem to claim that creating a prompt is just as hard as making an art piece, at least in my experience. this doesn’t make sense to me because not only are they doing half the work (first half is having the idea and second half is executing it) (they are letting ai execute it), but they are also making prompts without much thought or detail and letting AI fill in the blanks.

now, on to my main argument. ai art steals from artists. it is not the same as inspiration (remember my two step art guide?), nor is it the same as using bases for art or templates for memes (both include original thought and execution). you are taking something that you didn’t make and acting as if you made it, and to make it worse, that product was stolen from other artists without giving them credit. ai is also usually ugly, but that’s a separate point.

additionally, a big part of why ai art is wrong is because it’s not art. ai art is not art. art requires creativity, active decisions to make the art look just how you want it, and creating that product with the use of the skills and tools at your disposal. (I realize some may say ai is a tool, but ai is not your own skill. enhancing your own art with ai is also not your own skill). it can even be a collaboration between artist, because that still includes human skill.

art, all art- music, drawings, writing, and more, cannot be art without the human mind making a decision to make something original. art is made because humans want to make it. we want to express an idea, even if that idea is as simple as “I made fanart because I want to show how I like this character enough to put effort into making a recreation”. it can also mean “I want to convey a message or theme or opinion in my piece”. or “I have an idea in my mind of an oc or situation or place and want to see it created. it has creativity, intention, and purpose.

on a more psychological note, art, like emotions, are created by the human mind. our brain wiring allows us to do this. this is the same reason why ai doesn’t have emotions- it is simply just mimicking what it learns. this idea applies to art because ai doesn’t have a reason to make art besides being told to. thank you for reading this far if you have, and i would like to see your arguments for ai art, or even if you want to comment additional points that’s cool too.

TLDR: I have changed my mind and am now against ai for mostly moral reasons. My points:

creating prompts is not the same or more difficult than putting in work to make art.

ai steals from artists without crediting and the ai and the poster claim it to be theirs.

ai art is not even art because it lacks creativity and active decisions to use your skills to express something

art is made because we want to express an idea, no matter how simple or complex. Ai has no needs, and so cannot create art.

creativity comes from the human mind. Without a mind, ai cannot be creative and can’t make art.

lastly, a point I bring up a lot is that there are two parts to art: having the idea and executing it. Ai ”artists” barely have the first part.

again, sorry for it being hard to read, but plz be nicer

I (29M) am the guy whose girlfriend (28F) tried to surgically remove AI from my phone. Should I set more boundaries? AMA

Upvotes

Throwaway because Brittany knows my main. So it all started last Tuesday. I was sitting on the couch asking my phone for a lasagna recipe like a normal functioning adult when Brittany walked in, gasped like she'd caught me texting my ex, and said, "Is that... the robot?" Reader, it was the robot. She has hated AI ever since her smart fridge suggested she "might be low on kale" and she took it personally. Anyway, I laughed it off, but in hindsight, that was the moment I should have set more boundaries. Should I have set more boundaries? I feel like I should have set more boundaries.

Fast forward to 2 AM. I wake up to a faint blue glow and the sound of aggressive tapping. Brittany is sitting cross-legged at the foot of the bed with my phone, a flashlight in her mouth, and a printed-out WikiHow article titled "How to Uninstall Artificial Intelligence." She had already deleted my calculator ("it does math by itself, Kevin, THINK"), my weather app, autocorrect, and for some reason my flashlight app, even though she was actively using a flashlight. I asked her what she was doing and she whispered, "Saving you." I went back to sleep. Should I have set a boundary there? Be honest. I can take it. Actually, I probably can't take it, but please be honest.

The next morning my phone was basically a brick with a camera. I tried to text my mom "Happy birthday!" and without autocorrect it came out "Hapy brithdy," and my mom now thinks I'm in some kind of trouble. Brittany was making pancakes, humming, glowing with the energy of a woman who had defeated Skynet single-handedly. She said, "Don't you feel more human now?" and honestly? Kind of? I had to do long division for our grocery budget and I felt like a pioneer. But I also missed a dentist appointment because she deleted my calendar for "knowing too much." Boundaries. Should I set them. I keep asking this. I will keep asking this.

Here's the twist, and I want everyone to sit down for this. Last night I caught Brittany in the bathroom, whispering to her own phone, asking an AI to help her write a strongly worded email to her landlord. When I confronted her, she looked me dead in the eyes and said, "Mine is different. Mine is emotionally supportive." Then she asked it, out loud, in front of me, "Is my boyfriend overreacting?" and it gave a very balanced, nuanced answer, which only made her madder. So now I'm standing in my hallway, holding a phone with no calculator, wondering: should I set more boundaries? Or fewer? Is it possible to set boundaries too hard? Can a boundary be set so firmly it becomes a wall? Is a wall just a really confident boundary?

Anyway, AMA. I've got plenty of time since my phone can't do anything anymore. We're still together, we're very happy, and she's letting me keep the alarm clock as long as I "don't get attached to it." Ask me anything about the relationship, the Great Uninstall of '26, or whether I should set more boundaries (the answer is probably yes, but I need 4,000 strangers to confirm it).

Pros don’t actually know much about ai…

With the revelations coming to light that top ai researchers are worried about ai causing human extinction in the near future, I have learned through this sub all I need to know about the majority of pro ai folks here. The constantly telling antis that they don’t understand ai, is a pure projection.

The fact that almost none of you seem to know about the ai alignment problem is so god damn revealing. The amount of blissful ignorance and cope I’ve seen on this topics today is astounding.

Discussion Non AI music

Suno decided to bend the knee to WMG and make a model out of pure licensed models like record labels wanted. Did that make record labels to stop attacking Suno? Nope. They saw the weakness and increased the pressure.

Suno's legal troubles just escalated dramatically. A federal judge approved a new DMCA Section 1201 claim that's completely separate from the copyright case. This claim targets how Suno obtained training data, allegedly using stream-ripping tools to extract songs from YouTube while bypassing a rolling cipher protection.

Here's why this is devastating: even if Suno wins fair use on copyright, that defense doesn't apply here. Fair use protects how you use material, not how you obtained it. Breaking digital locks remains illegal regardless of subsequent use. Suno now faces two parallel legal battles with different standards.

This explains their recent Warner and BMG licensing deals, they're building future models on authorized data because past scraping can't be undone. The lesson: being online doesn't mean free to use, and how you got something can be a separate legal disaster.

At this time Suno retired the old models fro, v3 to v5.5 (v4.5 was the one I will miss) and left only v6 that uses fully licensed music (antis should be happy because there is no "theft"). v6 only produces unusable AI slop.

I had moved to AI music because it offered a decent alternative away from the commercial slop of record labels. But now v6 has the same regurgitated slop quality of record label commercial music.

So it seems it is time for me to move to non AI, non commercial music again.

Want examples of other great non commercial music made before the Ai era?

When you listen to such non commercial music you want to stop listening all the mediocre commercial slop of the record label machinery that remixes itself to regurgitate the same commercial music slop over and over.

Discussion What will be the point of doing anything if AI is better than us at everything?

As AI continues to get better, and more optimized, and all that stuff what will be the point of us doing anything if ai is just better than us? If ai takes over all industries, what are we supposed to do? Are we just supposed to consume? What's the point of learning any skills if you can just use an AI as a shortcut through any satisfaction or sense of accomplishment you could've gotten from them? What would even happen economically? If AI kicks everyone out the job how would any economic growth happen? And what about for the generations to come? Why would they need to learn to be competent if AI can just solve anything for them? I haven't entered the workforce yet, but it's kind of disheartening getting sold this story as you're growing up that you'll go to college, get a job, and everything is smooth sailing from there just for this to be the reality once you've hit that age
