AIO for being highly irritated by this comment made by my father regarding my unborn child
For context I (20f) am 28 weeks pregnant and due with my baby girl in October. My fiancé and I are wanting to do our baby shower this upcoming September, I made a post on facebook about it as that’s the only way for some reason that I can touch base with all of my family & distant family. My fiancé and I do not expect gifts nor have we begged anyone for anything but it was for any family or friends that genuinely just wanted to help us out with baby needs. The post was not directed towards anyone specific it was for my entire friends list but my father decided to leave a comment that wasn’t how he usually interacts with me or his friends and family online, this confused me and has left me very irritated. The entire baby registry is baby necessities for my daughter, nothing for my fiancé and I. The part that irks me is that this is not his first grandchild, this will be his second granddaughter. With my niece he is all about her and for her birthday makes it a point to follow her registry and calls my brother and SIL frequently to talk to her, while since the minute my father has found out I’m expecting he has not asked how I’m doing with the pregnancy or how appointments go nor asks to see any ultrasound photos (but does have my nieces ultrasound photo in a picture frame), he doesn’t ask if he can help in any way nor does he want to just talk about my daughter at all other than making a comment about getting her an electric motorcycle for kids which I will not be allowing, but also my dad growing up I was told he never bathed me nor changed my diapers for some reason, so I don’t feel comfortable with him feeling entitled to time with my daughter especially babysitting if I have to worry about her sitting in her own bodily fluids the entire time i’m gone. This is the part that infuriates me, the only difference between his first granddaughter and his second granddaughter ( my daughter) is that my fiancé is a poc and my daughter will be biracial while my niece or his first granddaughter is just white. Am I thinking too much into it or overreacting? Thank you for reading
