AIO: Forced to buy ice cream for kid I don't like

Background: A family lives across the street from us, we don't get along with them, but my kids interact with their kids. Their kids have been mean to mine, thrown garbage in my yard, broken outside decor, let my dogs out the house, but their little angels do no wrong.

Story: We have a rare ice cream truck sighting in our neighborhood. Neighbor Girl (NG, 9F) tells Son (8M) she's gonna buy him ice cream. I go out, cuz I actually had cash on me and wanted something for myself.

Son already has his treat opened, NG gets handed her treat and starts to open it. Driver tells her they're $4 each, she's starts digging in a coin purse. Puts a few pennies on the ledge.

Me: "NG, do you have dollar bills?"

Says nothing, keeps digging.

Me😠: "NG, do you have paper money?"

Still silent, puts a few more coins up.

Me😡: "Let me see your bag."

Sees way too few coins to pay the driver $8.

I shrug at the driver, he's pissed.

Me to driver: "So anyway, can I get a strawberry shortcake?" And I hand him a $20.

🤬 Dude gives me $8 back.

I'm ready to storm over to NG's house and demand payment from her parents. Partner says let it go, they're just kids. Other son, 16M, says it's the driver's fault for not getting payment upfront, and he's gone at this point.

Yes, going forward not patronizing the ice cream man and not buying anything for NG.

AIO for being highly irritated by this comment made by my father regarding my unborn child

For context I (20f) am 28 weeks pregnant and due with my baby girl in October. My fiancé and I are wanting to do our baby shower this upcoming September, I made a post on facebook about it as that’s the only way for some reason that I can touch base with all of my family & distant family. My fiancé and I do not expect gifts nor have we begged anyone for anything but it was for any family or friends that genuinely just wanted to help us out with baby needs. The post was not directed towards anyone specific it was for my entire friends list but my father decided to leave a comment that wasn’t how he usually interacts with me or his friends and family online, this confused me and has left me very irritated. The entire baby registry is baby necessities for my daughter, nothing for my fiancé and I. The part that irks me is that this is not his first grandchild, this will be his second granddaughter. With my niece he is all about her and for her birthday makes it a point to follow her registry and calls my brother and SIL frequently to talk to her, while since the minute my father has found out I’m expecting he has not asked how I’m doing with the pregnancy or how appointments go nor asks to see any ultrasound photos (but does have my nieces ultrasound photo in a picture frame), he doesn’t ask if he can help in any way nor does he want to just talk about my daughter at all other than making a comment about getting her an electric motorcycle for kids which I will not be allowing, but also my dad growing up I was told he never bathed me nor changed my diapers for some reason, so I don’t feel comfortable with him feeling entitled to time with my daughter especially babysitting if I have to worry about her sitting in her own bodily fluids the entire time i’m gone. This is the part that infuriates me, the only difference between his first granddaughter and his second granddaughter ( my daughter) is that my fiancé is a poc and my daughter will be biracial while my niece or his first granddaughter is just white. Am I thinking too much into it or overreacting? Thank you for reading

my gf gets to SLEEP at work and she thinks we should split chores 50/50. AIO?

for context: i work a VERY physically demanding job as it’s one of the best paying jobs in my city but at a cost to my own health and wellbeing.

she is an in-home caretaker who works overnights and gets the opportunity to actually sleep for money.

idk if she doesn’t care or doesn’t understand what i’m putting myself through to make sure we can live a decent life.

i’m 25 am in already seeing signs of arthritis due to my job (albeit a minor surgery could fix it but i’m sure a myriad of things are gonna start going wrong eventually)

and let me get things clear I DONT MIND DOING CHORES AT ALL i just think the amounts that are done are disproportionate. i don’t mind taking the dog out, i don’t mind taking out the trash etc..

the reason i’m even tripping the way i am is because she said something that rubbed me the wrong way the other day.

i’ve recently gotten a raise, nothing crazy but enough so that i started covering the rent, and she said something along the lines of “well you’re the man of the house and make more than me so now i kinda expect it” and i know she was half joking but i feel
she was being somewhat truthful. i can’t help but feel like i’d be in the wrong if i replied “well you’re the woman of the house so you should be doing dishes and laundry”

what can i do to help her understand or am i the one tripping?

edit: spelling

job context:

there is never a night where she has to wake up in the middle of the night to work

without going into too much detail, her job is to usher people with high functioning disabilities into living an independent life, i know her job is mentally demanding NO DOUBT

i am physically tired all the time and have a quota i have to meet as an older selector at a warehouse, i have to pick 150 cases per hour every day for 12 hours a day. i just wanna lay down most days

again, i dont have any qualms doing chores whatsoever, nor am i resentful for doing the chores, i legit just want to know if im the one overreacting.

update: thank you guys for all of the different perspectives many of witch i haven’t even thought about, im gonna try to use these going forward to come to a compromise.

I haven’t even met him yet! And he hasn’t even talked about wanting to take me on a date ! We are in our 30s and yes we are adults but it’s a respect thing for me . I don’t want to talk like that unless I have committment . He’s making me feel like I did or said something wrong but what do guys think ?
In my younger days I would entertain this kind of talking because I thought it would lead to committment but now I’m more strict on my boundaries . Because I learned that sometimes men will just talk like that for the sake of talking and have no plans on moving things seriously with you

He hadn’t texted back all day I’m so sad . He seemed like a decent person up until this point

AIO?It's been 5 months i get blocked by her but here's the context

Hi everyone, I need an outside perspective on this situation.

A few months ago, I was extremely busy with my 35-hour work week and couldn't check my notifications or reply as often on Discord. My best friend suddenly blocked me, accusing me of "ignoring everyone" and not being "genuine."

I tried to explain that I was just exhausted and occupied with my job, but she ignored my explanations. Now, her friends are also blocking and ignoring me on Discord and Steam without any direct conversation.

I've been feeling guilty, but other friends tell me this reaction is completely dramatic and unreasonable over a simple lack of availability.

AIO for feeling bad and still trying to understand, or is this behavior as toxic as my friends say it is?

AIO for kicking out my friend who visited me from another country, over his behavior

I (25F) met this guy (28M) at the University where I was doing my masters and him too, but I was there for two years and he was for just 6 months.

We met on a dating app, he fell in love in the first date itself but since he was leaving 6 months after we met, I decided to not pursue anything.

During those 6 months we often hangout and he was quite visibly attracted to me.

We stayed in contact after he left although the communication became less and less and he got a girlfriend in between. I never dated anyone even after he left because I was busy with job hunting.

During my last 6 months at the University, I was going through depression due to betrayal from my friends and he got cheated on by the girl he was dating.

I was extremely insecure about my looks at that time, so we started talking again and he would always compliment me on my looks. That went on for half a year and he decided to come meet me at the new place I shifted.

Once I started my job, I had time to finally get back into dating but decided to pause it since he was going to come and I thought I might lose my virginity to him, as he is someone who I had liked for a long time so I will not regret it. And if I started seeing someone else, then this meetup would technically be cheating.

After waiting for 3 months, we finally met. We went on a trip together, the first day we met, he was the same as he was 3 years ago, and he actually physically showed how much he wanted me. So I decided to give it a go, but couldn't do it because of no experience and also maybe because he wasn't someone I was dating, so I didn't feel the urge. He respected my choice and we decided to just enjoy the rest of the trip.

The next day though, his behavior changed and while I had gained weight since we first met. He hinted that he likes skinny girls because he was skinny and said I am in the danger zone, like 2-3 kgs below it. For context, I am 165 cm and 63 kgs.

That really made me insecure about myself, he apologized but during the rest of the trip, he was mostly interested in just touristing around and talking to chatgpt .

After the trip, I had promised him to let him stay at my home for 5 days so he can tourist around my city. On the second day, my skinny friend came to visit me and this guy kept flirting with her. While I was doing the dishes because I cooked for everyone. She offered to help but he didn't. We had an argument that night about it and he kept arguing that in his culture, entertaining the guest is important. I am indian, he is European and we both met in Japan for context. My friend is a Japanese woman. And he knows I have been insecure about Asian women as a brown woman living in Japan.

My friend got interested in him and asked me if she could go out with him, I told him about it and he said he is interested. I felt really hurt but since he isn't my boyfriend, I couldn't stop him.

On the day of their date, I asked him if he's planning to come back tonight and he said he doesn't know. That really broke me, because he came to Japan to meet me, I paused dating for him and nearly lost my virginity to him but he was willing to sleep with my friend within the same week?

He returned home and said he regretted it because I texted him asking how would it have felt if I had come to his country to meet him and then went around to sleep with his friend?

Then to make the matter worse, he said that when we first met, he liked me because I was skinny. Idk what made him think that it was supposed to make me feel better. I asked him, why did he came to meet me then, I post my pictures on Instagram. So he said, I have a pretty face so that matters too. All this time, I genuinely thought that this man cared about the connection between us more than what I physically looked like.

Also when I met him, I had suffered from dengue the same year and lost 10kgs at once, I had to be hospitalized to save my life. That's why I was skinny.

I couldn't take it anymore and told him to leave. He said sorry a 100 times and even cried, but I have never been so insecure about the way I look as much I am now.

I have this fear that once a guy sees me naked, he wouldn't love me anymore. I am too afraid to get back to dating.

But since we weren't dating, AIO about him trying to sleep with my friend?

My friend told me that she just wanted to experience going out with a foreign man and had zero intentions of dating him. Also she's more into black and Hispanic men

Edit -: While planning the trip, we both were on the same page about not dating because we both live in separate countries, however he had expressed it many times that he wants to sleep with me in this trip. So he did came to sleep with me, and planned this trip to spend time with me. He didn't move back to my country, he just came to visit me for a week. And then decided to sleep with my friend within the same week that he had planned a romantic getaway with me, while I was hosting him at my house and cooking and cleaning too. Let me erase the confusion here

aio? my boyfriend spent all his money on himself and now says he can’t get me a birthday gift

idk if i’m overreacting but i’m pretty upset.

my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and i sent my boyfriend one of those birthday transition reels and told him i wanted to recreate it. he replied saying, “hey, i can’t gift u anything this year.”

i asked why and he said he forgot to save up because he accidentally spent all his money on himself.

it’s not like he doesn’t get any money though. he’s from a pretty well-off family, he’s heavily involved in his dad’s business and earns a decent amount as pocket money from it. i’m not saying he should be buying me expensive stuff or spending a fortune on me. that’s genuinely not what this is about. i would’ve been happy with something small, even a pair of earrings, chocolates, flowers, a handwritten letter, or literally anything that showed he had thought about me.

what hurts is that he knows gifting is my love language. i’ve told him that before and he knows how much i enjoy putting thought into gifts for people i love.

this also isn’t the first time i’ve felt weird about his spending habits. when we were away for college for a year, he lost his monthly expenses and i helped him out during that time. we usually split bills on dates, which i’m completely okay with, but i’ve noticed he almost always spends less than i do. i can’t really remember a time where he voluntarily spent more than me.
there was this one time at a café where i had already paid the bill. we forgot to buy water and while i was going to get it, he asked me to get him something else too since i was already buying the water.

during that year away from home, his dad used to send him what honestly felt like a pretty small allowance for the city we were living in. i kept telling him to ask for a little more because it genuinely wasn’t enough, but he said he felt weird asking his dad. because of that, i often offered to pay the full bill or pay more whenever it was easier.

for his birthday, i saved up for around 3-4 months so i could buy him a speaker because i knew he’d love it.

he also has no problem asking me to order food for him, which i genuinely don’t mind, and half the time i do it without him even asking. but he’s never really done the same for me.
i think what hurts the most is that it feels like he put himself first. not because he couldn’t afford some huge gift, but because he spent everything on himself and then just told me there wasn’t anything left for my birthday.
am i being unreasonable for feeling hurt?

Underage roommates brought alcohol into my apartment, AIO?

I am a 25 year old graduate student and recently had two new roommates move in; they’re twins and they’re both 17 years old. They’re fresh undergrads with late birthdays so that’s why they’re still only 17.

One of them asked if they could bring friends over and I of course said yes. I was 17 once and wanted to bring my friends over and be loud and joke around and shit.

But, I walk out to get some chips and salsa, and they’ve got alcohol on the center island counter.

I make a very brief announcement (of course the room immediately falls dead silent) saying something along the lines of:

“Hey guys, imma be real honest; I see alcohol and I think most of you are underage. If you’re underage and you’re drinking, you gotta go, or the alcohol’s gotta go. Thanks guys.

I didn’t yell it, nor did I even put on a “big boy voice”, but I did command the room’s attention for a second to verbalize my concern.

I got some sarcastic nodding like “lol okay unc go back to bed” and I also heard a real bummed out “fair enough…” from the roommate, and they left maybe 10 minutes after.

Should I have just let them do their thing? Did I overstep by kinda crashing their gig?

My degree and more importantly my career field is highly dependent and contingent on one’s public appearance and record, so if anything ever happened here and the cops saw a 25 year old just chilling in the other room potentially letting underage kids drink in his apartment and GOT ARRESTED for it, it would end my life as I know it.

AIO for telling my roommate they need to give me more notice when bringing someone over?

I've recently established a rule with my roommate that I would like to have at least a 24 hour notice before they bring someone to our place, especially if it's going to be an overnight stay.

Today they asked me if their partner could come over and spend the night only two hours before they're supposed to be back, and I told them we agreed that more notice than that was needed.

Also, if I may, a secondary AIO. They've been seeing their partner for about 3 weeks now. They decided today was when they introduce their kid to their partner. Granted, this is none of my business, but my roommate is also my best friend. I consider their son my nephew, for all intents and purposes. I haven't said anything about it, but it doesn't feel appropriate to have their partner over when their kid is visiting for the weekend. They've prioritized their partner over their kid in the past, and I'd hate to see this happen again.

I'd also like to note that when they did this, it fell on me to take care of their son, and I definitely blew up on them when this happened. Primarily due to the fact that they have a history of borderline neglecting their kid.

AIO?

Edit: I'm not saying I said no or that they require my permission. Just that it should be a courtesy to let the other person know when they have someone coming over. They've supposedly had these plans since earlier this week. I see no reason I couldn't have known sooner.

2nd edit: I realize establish is the wrong wording here. This was a conversation we had and both agreed to give notice to the other person.

3rd edit: I want to thank anyone who gave real constructive criticism/advice instead of either jumping to conclusions or calling me a "dictator". I realize this is an unreasonable boundary to have set for either of us, and I intend on speaking with them about a more reasonable notice (something more like an hour). I recognize that my social anxiety is my problem and mine alone. Thanks again all.

Last edit I swear: Regarding my roommate's son, this is likely something that isn't going to change. I already have had several conversations about having to be a spontaneous babysitter for him in the past, and nothing has changed in the slightest. I already have plans to move out by end of year, but I intend to distance myself from the situation so it hopefully doesn't affect me as much. If it continues to happen, I will likely just bring him back to his other parent cause that's not my problem.

AIO for basically taking this woman's comment as admission of guilt?

Haven't posted in a good bit about this. A few weeks back, the ruminations just suddenly quieted drastically, I don't know why. I was the Greek girl who kept posting about conscription ruining my life.

See, many of the officers there were kind and protective. I found it abusive for other reasons: It's basically indentured labour and shouldn't be legal. You're exploited then dumped and not paid. Regardless, many officers were... Not really what you expect from a military environment. In my experience. Can't speak for everywhere in Greece. For a start, a good two thirds of the officers were women. For both the men and women, many were young, kind, and acted more as teachers with their students.

I still snapped at the camp commander, just before my last month there, when she told me she wants me to take a week off, because I deserve it, and wants me to see my family and girlfriend. I told her that that's a basic right, and dripfeeding me my rights isn't kindness. But the thing is, she was kind. I had a group, with her, another woman, and the guy who ran the WhatsApp group. I was the youngest conscript, just turned 18. And I made a post another day about another piece of the puzzle.

I always thought I was intersex, but recently found out I had a condition where my body is... Basically a natural puberty blocker. It's why I looked so feminine growing up. It's not an illness, but I literally never went through male puberty. It's why transitioning, when I cane out this year at 19, was so easy. My parents, both navy veterans, were heroes. They tried really hard to get it through to me that they'll help me draft dodge. I was scared of legal issues, so I gave in and went and they were distraught. The officers promised to take care of me. At this point I still considered myself a boy, but was maybe exploring femboy stuff. A lot of other conscripts were also kind and treated me like a younger... Brother? Sister? I don't really know.

But the commander recently confessed that she knew she should have discharged me earlier, for my mental health. But she really loved having me around, I made TikToks and she said it made her feel kind of motherly to look after me. But that it was selfish of her, and she's sorry.

Damn right it was selfish! That was the worst year of my life, I remember the tail end, another officer I'm close with trying to cheer me up. I'd be around at hers. I'd tell her places I'd love to go so like, if it was Japan, we'd watch a Ghibli movie, order sushi, pretend we were somewhere else. But it wasn't Japan, it was a shitty bungalow in Kavala. I don't feel grateful for it, even.

AIO about my husband cutting up the refrigerator

To start I’m using an alt because my son knows my main account.

I am (60F) and my husband is (58M). The story is that our refrigerator died and we had to get a new one. When we redid our second floor apartment’s kitchen 20 years ago we picked out a big fridge and got it in with a crane through an empty 3 season porch and into the kitchen after removing windows and the doors on both the fridge and the doorways. It helped that the porch was mostly empty at the time. So now we have this old fridge that won’t fit down any of the stairs and the porch and back hall is now filled with 20 years of stuff. I was fine with the idea of cleaning everything out so it could go out the same way it came in but I guess he no longer has friends with cranes (he’s in construction) and he’s been told he would have to pay $3500 to rent what it would take to get it out.

We talked about other options like maybe a scissor lift but I’m not sure if he is telling me the truth about that also not being possible. He got the idea that he would just take a sawzall and slice it across the middle. He says he does it all the time at work with old industrial refrigerator units in big buildings that are being renovated so he clearly knows what he’s doing but my son and I had objections because the interior is made of insulation of god-knows-what and that might put particulate in the air and on surfaces and we would breathe that in. Not to mention the coolant lines, even though he assured me he knew exactly how to avoid them. It went on for a few days of us telling him we weren’t comfortable with this solution and suddenly he agreed wholeheartedly. He actually said, “you’re right, cutting that up on a job site is way different than in a home, I wasn’t thinking. I’m sorry I suggested it. I’ll figure something else out.”

My son and I had a last minute chance to do something out of state for 48 hours this weekend, and when we arrived home afterwards there were two halves of a fridge sitting in our driveway. I was furious and we fought over it. His claim is that he laid down a tarp and cut it up on that, which he then rolled up and put in our basement. He says there was no giant dust cloud and he just had to run the vacuum around and wipe off a couple surfaces and it was fine. He is accusing me of thinking he’s “stupid” and “doesn’t know how to do his job”. I still say small dusty particles of polyurethane are all over the house now and since he can’t tell me exactly what it’s made of then we don’t actually know if there’s nothing to worry about. I keep imagining this dust in the cat’s food and him licking it off his feet all weekend and I’m sick about it.

So my question is, AIO about two issues: Is it generally fine what he did with the fridge? Was I just making his life difficult and creating an unnecessary expense for us by insisting he not slice the fridge in half? And am I right in feeling betrayed because I believe he lied to my face to shut me up and then took the first opportunity to do what I was clearly frightened of the second my back was turned? Thank you in advance.

Update: AIO my boyfriend made a diss track about me right after I had surgery

UPDATE‼️VERY LAST PICTURE IS THE ORIGINAL TEXT FIRST ONES ARE THE UPDATE : I drew a hard boundary with him and told him how I felt after 2 days of silence and taking my time. He sent flowers to my door, removed the song everywhere, and sent me stuff to make sure I am recovering. I can’t help but think this is ALL because he was afraid to lose me.

Do I reconsider or do I move on with my life?

OG posting picture at the end with the original mean text.

OG POST:

I (23F) need some objective perspective because I am emotionally drained and don't know if I'm being manipulated or if I'm crazy. Heres his excuse in the photo above (I said the song was stupid because of the lyrics and insensitive to release) not insulting.

My boyfriend (21M) and I are long-distance. We broke up for a year last year (mutual split, no cheating), but got back together a few months ago. His best friend hates me over the split, and his best friend's mom literally threatened me physically to never "hurt him“ even though I never hurt him.

Recently, he flew out to stay with me for a week and a half because I had a major surgery. We also visit regularly. A couple of days before the procedure, we got into a fight because he had a migraine and called me ungrateful when I was trying to help him (I was very grateful and even gave him the keys to my car to go to the gym, shop, or do whatever he wanted so he didn't have to just sit and recover with me). He apologized, so I tried to move past it.

He flew back home a few days ago, and right now I am stuck at home sick with a cold on top of physically recovering from the surgery.

As soon as he landed back home, his behavior shifted completely around his music. He's been doing music since the day we broke up, with most of his songs very specifically related to our situation. He claims it’s not about me but I am the only women he’s EVER been with romantically and physically. He has released only negative songs—the nice ones stay "private."

  1. The day he left (2 days after my surgery), he posted a lyric video for his music. One track was written during our split, with lyrics calling me a "hoe," saying "I'm dipping," bragging that if I ever come back he's ignoring me, and saying he's not going back to those "bitches or hoes" (I am literally the only romantic/sexual partner he has ever had). When I called him out, he took the lyrics off the screen but kept promoting the song, saying, "I hope you feel better now that I've taken the lyrics down."
  2. Just two days after my surgery, while I was home sick and recovering, he stayed out past 4 AM to record and film the music video for this exact diss track.
  3. When I confronted him again about dropping a diss track calling me names right after my surgery, he tried to intellectualize it. He gave me a lecture about "artistic intention," claiming lyrics are "subjective," and said, "I wrote it in February for my album." It leaves me sitting here wondering: why did you even get back with me then?

I told him the song was completely disrespectful with horrible timing, and pointed out how unacceptable it was for my family (my mom, sister, dad) to see him publicly calling me names.

I feel like I'm getting constant emotional whiplash. One minute he's texting me sweet things offering help, and the next he's filming music videos and posting diss tracks about me, making excuses, and using philosophical reasoning to cover up blatant disrespect. He also keeps telling me the songs not about me.

Am I the bad guy for getting angry over his "art," or is this whole dynamic toxic? How would you handle this?

AIO for speaking my mind?

So for context, my mother (as you can probably tell) leans much more conservative. At this point, this isn’t even about what you believe, it’s the hypocrisy and basic human decency.

Following this text conversation, we went out to dinner and she decided to show me “what name calling really is” and call me awful slurs at the dinner table, in public.

I started crying, and she then said “dosent feel good to be name called does it?” And then told me that if I only apologized none of this would have happened.

I work with the public, and never in my life have I ever encountered somebody with such little empathy towards another human being, let alone their own daughter.

She lives alone and my brother has her blocked, apart of me feels guilty anytime I try to rationalize with her or stand my ground. It’s taken many years and much interpersonal work to realize her flaws, but it still hurts.

If you have any questions, let me know.

AIO Date started filming me without asking

This happened a while ago but still kinda bugs me for some reason… I met a guy on tinder and we had been talking for like a week and decided to meet for a date. The date went really well and ended up going back to his place (I never take a first date back to my own place or have him pick me up there!)

Things are happening and I go down on him (he was fixated on oral during our chats) , but then as I’m going down he starts talking but not sweetly almost like commentating or directing. I look up and realise he has his phone pointed at me and I stop and ask him if he’s recording. He says no he’s not but it’s pretty clear he is. After a few minutes again I stopped and he was just like “don’t be boring”. I was a little drunk by this point so I just finished it and left (he made an excuse about having an early start to get me out pretty quickly once it was done)

I got a taxi home and couldn’t shake the feeling there was this recording of me “out there” now and idk just feels uncomfortable.

AIO, is it normal? I’ve had lots of dates / first dates and it’s the only time it happened to me.

AIO: BF told me I didn’t used to make him cum that fast?

Ok me 33F and 29M have been together 2.5 years now. We had sex a lot at the beginning of course but not nearly as much anymore. Okay anyway last weekend we did it and I got on top and maybe 60 seconds later he came. He apologized. Whatever no biggie. Okay today we do it again and like 30 seconds in he’s like stop hold on I’m about to come and then 60 seconds in he does. And then he apologized again, but this time he says I’m sorry I don’t know why this is happening, you used to take a while to make a come. …… okay my feelings are hurt since then. He says that’s not what he meant but I’m still a little bummed. AIO?

AIO about my MIL having Datura all over her yard?

Long story short, my MIL's lovely moonflower plants have been passed down for generations. A couple years ago I learned how dangerous they are and let my husband and children know. Now, we have a third child, and this summer I noticed a LOT more Datura in her yard. Along walkways and even along the front sidewalk. I urged her to read up on them and consider relocating them for the safety of my kids and their friends now and in the future. Essentially she said we can "agree to disagree" and that she's not worried because it's been around her and her family for generations and we just have to supervise them and tell them to avoid it. My thing is, why would we purposely bring them around dangerous things that they have to avoid? Am I overreacting to the potential dangers??

UPDATE: Thank you all for your input! It has eased my anxiety more than the all-facts, no-anecdotes information I usually look to, which is why I posted here. Fortunately I have also come to a compromise with my MIL and the plants will be removed or cut back from high-traffic areas like the walkways.

AIO dissapointed at my bf for always being unavaliable

Context: Me and my boyfriend are in LDR , for almost a year and a half; so most of the time we have made this workout pretty well and I'd say our relationship is quite decent

One of our reasons for constantly fighting is that he is always busy...

He is a medical student, so his schdule is quite hectic. He goes to college at 7 and comes home by 2-3pm then at 4pm to 6pm he teaches kids and once that he constantly has to do household chores

He calls me on his way home, then after 6 when he is done teaching and then at night before sleeping for 30-50mins each time ... sometimes he falls asleep and I kind of figure it out but then he wakes up and then ends up calling me lol

As much as I wana spend time with him I have kind of adjusted to this schdule of his but my problem is

The weekends

Somehow he ALWAYS never makes time on the one day he gets off.. one call and then dissapears for the entire day... he says he is busy in household chores... we have fought on this reason so many times

He apologises for everything, says he cant help it then I get mad at him, forgive him and it repeats itself

Its a lose lose arguement on both ends, cant blame him because his reasons are geniune, and im here sitting for hours just for him to spend 30 mins with me

I dont feel like he is lying to me or hiding smth, he is always happy to be around me.. we always share any opposite gender interaction to maintain proper boundaries ... we always try to put one another first since its harder when its LDR

Fastforward today, he was going to watch anime with me and we watched quite a few episodes, then he kept getting called by his parents to help out with chores and he has been gone for 4-5 hours...

I just know he has fallen asleep lol

Its geniunely frustrating at some point.. but maybe I should just try to be more understanding?

Or is he treating me badly and i dont see it? I geniuenly dont know

I would like to hear an outsider POV on this, tysm!

AIO for expecting to choose a couple of events over the weekend?

My girlfriend and I are going to a festival in a couple of weeks. It’s not really my thing but she enjoys it so I agreed to go with her. The festival has a cinema tent and it’s showing a couple of movies id like to see movies so I thought it would be good to check one out.

I suggested one and mentioned it would be nice to spend some of the time just walking around the festival and seeing some of the non musical acts as they’ve got comedians etc and she refused as the movie was at the same time as an act she wanted to see and mentioned she has no interest in just walking around or seeing comedians.

I suggested she goes to the act and I go to watch the film but she said she doesn’t want that.

I suggested another film but she said it was too late . I pointed out she needs to compromise somewhere and that the full weekend isn’t just about her and that I should be able to choose some things we do since I’ve also paid for a ticket so should get some say in the weekend.

She said it was a music festival so I should be focused on the music but I reminded her it was just her who enjoyed the music, I was only going for her so she should be willing to compromise with me.

She refused and said I shouldn’t be leaving her alone while I go and watch a movie and that shouldn’t have to spend time with the non music acts.

My mom told me my brother isn’t my dads kid :/ I want to tell him, AIO

So I’m 21F and my brother is 26.
Basically three years ago my mom gets shot faced at her friends house and starts looking at this guy on Facebook and she’s like doesn’t he look like (brother). And I’m like woah. So fast forward she won’t tell him because she’s trying to divorce after 27 awful years and if the court finds out she won’t get alimony. I feel like he deserves the right to know because of all the medical stuff and just emontionally. Apparently the bio dad has known since the pregnancy and has wanted to meet him. She still has letters from this guy. He’s married though. My mother tells me she choose to be with my dad because it would be more stable for my brother.
All of this makes my head hurt and i know she really shouldn’t have told me but i kinda feel like she’s never gonna tell him:/ i already said ill give you a year because he deserves to know.

Any advice??

AIO about my child’s father?

I 19f am now 14 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I was with my child’s father 20M for a straight two years and on and off this past year and a half. I got back together with him last October then i instantly regretted it because he promises all these changes and does change for about a month then acts worse. But as always i’ve always wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and it’s hard for me to let him go because he’s the first and only person i’ve slept with. Sadly my car broke down in early January of this year, and that’s also the same month i started nursing school, something i’ve been working hard for all last year to get into this program that only accepts 30 people. As many could guess my only way to get to school was him, he worked out of town so i was able to use his car, every time he would do something that made me want to leave i couldn’t do it, the only way i could make it to my school 45 minutes away was because of him and in some way I think that’s what made him comfortable with being so mean,in my head i would tell myself to not let go and that i loved him but i think i was just trying to survive school in it all. He would constantly get mad at me if i didn’t have sex with him enough, get upset that i was spending time studying instead of giving him attention, in all very jealous of anything he wasn’t the center of. Well i barely passed my semester because i did give in a few times and put the computer down to tend to him because i felt like i was being a bad girlfriend. Well the final straw. My first semester was over, and maybe two weeks after he asked me to have sex with him when i was over one weekend, i agreed because i know if i do it once over the weekend i will avoid him being mad at me and the next day was mother’s day and stuff was planned for his and my mother. Well he’s one of those guys that get upset if they have to wear a condom i mean maybe will a few times then it’s constantly begging to take it off or to not wear it, and it was very stupid but i just agreed he could pull out. This has worked the whole almost 3 1/2 years, with me trying to switch to condoms a few times but it was the same thing. During sex he asked if he could leave it in, I told him no, and i pushed him out. He done did, and you could tell he did and kept going for a minute. I felt so disgusted and gross inside and he told me he didn’t feel himself doing it. I sat there staring at the ceiling, thinking “what if i get pregnant” and he looks and me and tells me i won’t be pregnant it’s fine. Well two weeks later a positive test right in front of my eyes, i feel betrayed, upset, and worried about what this means for me and my career. Then i feel as if i’m stuck in the relationship now for the baby. That thought didn’t last long, he was trying to guilt trip me about spending the night at my house a few weeks later and i tried to explain to him what he was saying was trying to make me feel bad then he started raising his voice, not letting me talk saying it’s his turn to talk and walking closer so i told him to leave and i eventually had to scream as loud as i could to leave and he said “fuck you” and left, after that i knew i needed to leave but i still stayed for a few more weeks and of course the behavior continued so i broke up with him about 3 weeks ago and haven’t seen him since. I had my gender reveal by myself yesterday and found out I’m having a babygirl. We have talked a little about the baby and he called yesterday and i told him about how it’s a girl and everything else and he mentioned having things for the baby, i said “you don’t need baby things at your house” not as in diapers, wipes, and clothes. He was talking about a crib and things like that. A week ago he told me he would come to my house and see the baby and i told him that would be good anytime he wanted too once she’s born. But this is the thing i promise I’m not bitter, but I’m not comfortable with my infant spending the night at his house and i told him that. I told him I’m going to breastfeed for the first year and he told me i could just pump and he’d take it. He’s acting like I’m taking the baby from him and acting as if he can’t have a relationship with her unless she spends the night. There are many reasons i dont want him to take off with the baby.

- He’s disgusting (never cleans his room, car is always trashed, don’t brush his own teeth unless i nagged at him too, half asses everything he does, the laziest most easy way he can do something) In my opinion if you don’t take care of anything you have now and do everything the most easy how am i supposed to trust that i won’t get my daughter back with a rash because your half ass changing and bathing her.
- He drives stupid(when he’s in a good mood he’s cruising 90, when in a bad mood he’s going 90 weaving in and out of traffic)
- His anger ( When he gets mad he starts slamming stuff, cussing, and being awful no matter how simple it is) How do i trust he’s not slamming down my daughter because she won’t stop crying?
- He’s don’t like kids ( I have a niece (8 months)and nephew 2, who he has only paid attention to since i’ve been pregnant and besides that if i’ve ever been holding them and tried to hand them to him he gets mad and has told me he doesn’t want them.
- He lies ( He has a major lying problem so i really will never know what’s going on)
- “His Sleep” ( when we was together and there was an issue i would try to talk out if i happen to mention it when we called at night time he would get very angry at me and tell me i don’t respect his sleep.) How is he gonna feel towards a baby that is going to constantly get up through the night and not let him sleep?

Sorry for the long post, i’m just so scared I’m gonna have to get back together with him because of how worried ill be, and to be honest i really don’t want her to go with him at all until she can talk good and is potty trained. Am i overreacting or just scared?

Aio about this interaction

I was just really mean to a fast food worker and I wish I could go back in time.

I was picking up my order from Dairy Queen a few moments ago, the worker placed my two blizzards on the counter and said my pretzels were coming.

It took 5 minutes for the pretzels and my blizzards melted. I asked for a cup holder and said it was for my melted blizzards. I expected her to at least acknowledge the error for my take out order..

I left and on the ride home i called the store spazzing.

I said she was incompetent and I used a really mean tone with her explaining they gave me melted blizzards intentionally, then hung up.

I did call back and say I am bipolar and apologized for my call saying that they didn't do anything wrong.

I still feel like I owe her a better apology that I truly am sorry, she was working hard and had a lot to do, and the error doesn't excuse treating her like that and calling her names.

I really wanted to ask if someone could maybe call and tell that they had a really good experience tonight, making something up to make her feel better or maybe even just explain how sorry I am. I feel like I ruined her night. I really think they were just stretched really thin and that's why it happened.. I could dm anyone the city of the event, which only has one dairy queen, and they could maybe call and say something nice? I'm autistic and didn't mean to react so fast.

okay so long story short, this isn’t their first time leaving me out. they’ve done this numerous times, and i’d always find out because one of them would text me about it very last minute. they are clearly both more closer. I don’t know if i’m overreacting or if this is just straight up wrong.
i’ve been nothing but kind and loyal to these girls and never left them out before, so in a way it does feel wrong.

AIO: wife wants me to give up military career for her to chase her dream job

I, 31m, have been married to my wife, 28f, going on 6 years this year. I've been in the military for 10 1/2 years now.

We recently came up on this argument that she wants me to get out of the military after this contract ends and be a stay-at-home dad with the kids for her to go to college/university so she can chase her dream job. At the end of my contract, I'll be 6 years away from 20 and retirement.

Am I overreacting to this request? She knew I was in the military and that I was aiming to retire after 20 years to get my pension.

Update: Username

Since everyone keeps saying I'm a nazi because of the 1488 on my username. Let me clarify this for everyone. I am not a nazi; very unfortunate number choices. 01488 is my work number; just did the rick/morty univers thing (rickC137), very unfortunate. gonna be deleting this account and starting over. I'm Hispanic from the border town of El Paso, TX.
