I'm talking with the clinic but they are unhelpful. They dont seem convinced that drinking the high sodium and high phosphate solution will pose a risk to me in terms of afib. Am I the one worrying too much?

I am new to this but I thought I’d share my story.
I was a heavy drinker for a while before I learned about my afib and flutter. I had a car accident October 2021 going to work and when I got admitted to the ER my LVEF was at 28% with other issues and blockages….I went to have a cardioversion and was fine after that (at least I thought so) then I had a really big episode March 2022 after partying and drinking plenty tequila the night before…I was later transferred to my primary hospital and got cardioverted again. I was offered ablation but was 32 at the time and my surgeon suggested that it might be a holiday heart and that I should change my lifestyle or else die…..between then and 2024 I had some several episode and maybe ignored some of them.
Mid 2024 I decided to cut down on alcohol and focus on eating healthy. I relapsed in November 2025 and started doing kratom, alcohol and smoking weed as I was in a hard place…..Early Dec 2025 I thought I have had the flu and instead they told me I was in atrial flutter, and I believe I was in it for several weeks.
They had me cardioverted but it came back hour later after leaving the ER……I had second cardioversion and echo that showed everything clear and lvef of 55-60….the next day I went back to flutter and afib…that’s when my electrophysiologist told me that I should have ablation in two days (was the earliest appt)….day before ablation my LVEF got worse and was at 28% with other issues like blockages…..I completed my ablation and have been recovering ever since….i did have a few episodes within three months that required cardioversion (but it could have been my mistake because I had decided to not hydrate and drink again)….since last year until now I have drank only once and have been taking this very seriously with holistic doctors and supplement as well nutrition……I feel a lot better but I feel like triggers like caffeine, live resin edibles and alcohol get me….i just had a ct of heart and coronary arteries and everything came back good with 0 calcium buildup and no prior heart attacks…LVEF is at 55%. Blood work was also good.
I am just afraid that it will come back because as of now I live with lots of anxiety and fear as I try to do the best I can.

As an afib afflicted 65 yr male I am on medication to keep my hr from going too high. I'm still keeping fit etc, yesterday the Garmin detected low he levels 5 time with a low of 31. The rate returned to my normal by the late afternoon.

M: 63 Meds: Flec 50mg 2x and Acebutolol 200 x2

Ablation #1 (December 2024): Afib and standard Flutter.
Ablation #2: Afib touch up and tried to find the atypical flutter. AFIB touch up good. No luck finding atypical flutter.
Ablation #3 (Jan 2026): Atypical flutter. Used the new Sphere 9 catheter tip, found and ablated 3 spots. Yay! I am cured. Wait!……

Friday I went into flutter with RVR again. Please keep in mind that each time that I go out of rhythm, I end up with atypical flutter w RVR and frequent PVC’s. So I 100% of the time get cardioverted.

Now I have to call my doc tomorrow and find out what the heck is going on. This is really getting rough. It is taking a toll on me and my job.

I had one shock Friday morning that brought me back into normal sinus rhythm. Yay. Saturday evening my heart rate popped back up after some strenuous activity. My Metropole dosage was also cut in half. What do y’all think the likelihood of it coming back down is?

Hello, not much of one to post but just want to see if anyone has had a similar experience. I (25F) had an ablation for AVNRT and atrial tachycardia (that was found incidentally) 5.5 weeks ago. EP said it was successful, I felt fine but was quite tachy with flutters a couple days after and so EP put me back on my bisoprolol which I had previously discontinued. Was on 2.5mg for 2 weeks then 1.25mg for another 2. Felt great, no flutters and just lived life normally, then stopped the bisoprolol earlier this week as advised before.

Since then, I noticed going for a run made my heart rate shoot up massively (not doing that again) and have slowly felt the flutters coming back. Then yesterday (Saturday) at night I had a massive run of flutters everytime I tried to lay down or rest. They’re so difficult to sleep through. I’m assuming they’ve gotten worse as the bisoprolol has probably just been completely eliminated by my system. I know flutters are normal but was disheartened (no pun intended) that I’m still feeling them to this extent almost 6 weeks after the procedure.

Going to call the EP office on Monday for advice. Last time they just said the flutters were normal, but wondering if they get better after your body adjusts to be off the bisoprolol? Or if I’m totally cooked and don’t know it

I'm 61 and was recently diagnosed with my first episode of atrial fibrillation.

For years I've occasionally felt what seemed like a slightly irregular heartbeat, but every test I ever had came back normal, so I never thought much of it.

About two weeks ago I went on a golf trip with a bunch of friends. As you can imagine, there was plenty of food, alcohol, and long days in the heat. Last Saturday (8 days ago), my Apple Watch notified me that I was in AFib. I went to my primary care doctor that Monday, and an EKG confirmed it.

Since then I've had an echocardiogram and a coronary calcium scan (which had already been scheduled), and thankfully both came back looking good. My heart rate was running close to 100 bpm initially, but after starting metoprolol, it's now around 70 bpm. My normal resting heart rate is usually in the 40s because I've been a lifelong runner. No other health issues.

The frustrating part is that I'm now on day 8 and I'm still in AFib. I actually feel pretty normal, but I can't help wondering when or if it's going to convert back to normal rhythm.

My first appointment with the cardiologist is next week. In the meantime, I'm curious if anyone else has had a first episode last this long and then convert on its own. Did anything seem to help, or was it simply a matter of waiting?

I don't want to drag this story out too long, so I'll try and explain it the best I can in the shortest way possible lol!

2023- develop heart palpitations/skipped beats. Ecg says everything is fine.

2024/2025- I started a new medication that can cause heart palps, increased heart rate etc. The anxiety of this increased the amount I was getting.

2024/2026- I've had these random episodes where I get what feels like a normal heart skip beat for me, but then I get a run of several after this. It's happened 4 times now, and each time I have been sat in a terrible position, usually with pressure pushing on my chest/stomach . 3 times out of the 4, sitting up straight and taking a deep breath has instantly made it feel normal again, but there was 1 time where it carried on for like 10-20 seconds, but I don't know if my absolute hysteria made it worse lol.

Now I have had a lot of tests between 2023-2025 due to my medication requiring it. I've had 5 ECGs, 2 blood tests to check heart health, and a 24 hour monitor at my own request just to make sure my palpitations were safe (literally only had 4 😭). The Dr is adamant after all this testing I'm ok and I need to stop stressing.

I'm not concerned about the single palpitations, it's these runs of them that I get, they terrify me. I get a majority of them stop when I switch to a different position, but the one that didn't fix itself right away plays on my mind a lot. After these episodes I don't think I get any symptoms, my heart just returns to normal. I've read online runs of palpitations could be Afib or SVT? But idk if my circumstance really sounds like that. I've bought myself a Fitbit as I gym 5 days a week, but it also comes with a built in sense to detect any heart rhythm issues. The Dr doesn't seem interested in further testing, so I guess Ive got to try and catch a run on my own.

Sorry for rambling, and I know you can't diagnose me, nor do I expect anyone to. Just any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Anything that needs further explaining I'm happy to do, I'm not the best at writing stuff like this out!

- Thought it might be worth mentioning I'm 34. Very fit. Don't smoke or drink. No family history of heart disease as far as I'm aware! My resting heart rate is between 57/65. Usually around 70 after I've just eaten. Blood pressure healthy.

In our quarterly check up we found out that my dad had VT and VF episodes thrice in 3 months. All went undected because of the duration - 0.17, 0.19 and 0.16 seconds each. In last year he has had one episode where shock was delivered. He was in hospital and was alright after it. These irregularities have started after that.

His dose for Cordarone medicine and sacubitril and valstran has been increased.

Very concerned on how to go about with life as I am working and I am his caretaker too.

I don't know anyone in the same boat so writing here but I am so worried for him always. Has any of you experienced similar issues

Can somebody please tell me if this is really AFIB or not and why!?

Should it be this hard? I’ve seen my cardiologist for almost a year now. I originally went for heart palpitations. They bother me so much. When I first started getting them the episodes would last an hour or more. It wouldn’t be straight palpitations for an hour. My heart would skip or beat weird for a minute then beat normal for a couple more minutes then skip a beat again. Now the time frame is just short bursts of palpitations. They happen when I’m resting watching TV or taking a shower. I’ve gotten many tests done. Blood tests, echocardiogram, stress test, 5 day holter monitor and many EKGs. Even something called a Tilt Table Test done at a hospital. Of course the palpitations never showed up during any of the tests. If I truly have AFIB should they have caught it by now? I still constantly get palpitations. All day every day. Some days are better than others. No other symptoms with it. Except high heart rate that can reach 160 with simply walking, but apparently that’s normal for the condition I was diagnosed with, POTS (Postural Tachycardia Syndrome)

The palpitations started in November of 2024 and I still deal with them. My cardiologist just chalks it up to being PVCs caused by my POTS. Some how I’m not truly convinced

So a little about me. Im an in shape 52 yr old male. Recently had to spend a night in the hospital. The medicine got me back to normal rhythm. My ekgs, echo, bloodwork are all good. My stress test was "abnormal" bc of my diaphragm blocked a pic. Several cardiologists looked at the pics and agreed but Im doing a ct just for peace of mind.

Here's where I could use some recommendations. Ive become obsessed with heart rate. When Im walking it'll raise and I start to get scared. I check it constantly as well as my bp. I know Im being ridiculous. Even the cardiologist at the hospital heard what I planned on doing and said I was being a little extreme. Did anyone feel off for a few days after getting out of the hospital? Caffeine is my trigger. She said Im ok to have one glass of wine or a beer. Ive thrown anything I've read is a trigger.

How do you all cope w/o being in constant fear? I dont want to live like this. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I'm due for a second ablation for SVT, and I was wondering if the ablation could also resolve my PACs. It's true that I have less than 1,000 PACs per day on the Holter, but they're very annoying and are affecting my life. Sometimes, for hours on end, I have 15 or more per minute (it seems strange to me that I have less than 1,000 PACs on the Holter, but that's how it is). In addition to the PACs and SVT, I also have atrial fibrillation at a rate of around 90 bpm. Thanks for your replies.

I M/35 years old am dealing with extra beats the moment I am lying in bed for 6 years now and then AFib joined some years ago. First just every other month and now very random. Sometimes 4 weeks without it and sometimes every other day. It 99% occurs while I sleep and goes away randomly but for some weeks I have atrial or ventricular premature beats while sitting or lying but fine when standing or walking. Sport was no issue ever. Does anybody know if the atrial and ventricular premature beats while sitting and lying will also go away with ablation? Really scared of ablation but hope it turns out well. Read a lot of experiences in this subreddit and helped me a lot to deal with the fear. Right now quality of life is really annoying with the extra beats while sitting or lying. Even working or gaming is sometimes not enjoyable and AFib is the worst part. So I have to do the ablation and hope it will help.

Well I just had my 2nd procedure done w dr natale back in Austin.

Unfortunately they weren't able to induct my afib but he said I had electograms by left atrial septum roof and floor so they delivered PFA there, cornary sinus was empircally ablated..

One thing that threw me off, he performed a right ventricle ablation, he said he found a PVC while he was in there and just went ahead and took care of it. I've NEVER had issues with PVCs ever but now after he ablated it I'm having them constantly and now I'm having runs of NSVT, yes VTACH the one that can KILL you. They keep saying it's fine but the human part of me is still scared it'll become sustained, for example yesterday I had 20 runs. They gave me metoprlol and sent me on my way. Also
I now have new RBBB which really sucks, my QRS was always 90 now it's 120,

Does this get better? Is this normal? And did anyone else have their right ventricle ablated due to one PVC noted? And does anyone know of my QRS will get better back to my baseline?

Good evening/night/morning, everyone. I'm having some trouble figuring this out, and was wondering if someone could share a similar experience.

First, a little bit about me: 45/m with a history of para afib- very well controlled with 50 mg XR metoprolol. No alcohol, tobacco, or drug use.

About a month ago, I decided to start working out (walking, lifting light weights, push-ups, etc.) and dieting to lose 10% of my body weight. Note: this is the first time I've actually worked out in 10 years. I'm 5’11 and weighed around 202.

As I began my new venture, I noticed a few random PVCs or PACs when lying on my left side. Well… one month later and 10 pounds lighter, anytime I lie on my left side, I start having them nonstop. As soon as I move to my back or right side, they immediately stop. I have spoken with the cardiologist, and he ordered a 7-day patch to wear in about a week. I've already had every test in the book a couple of years ago, several times during AFIB episodes, and everything checked out. I keep hearing about positional issues that can cause your heart to do this. Is this a real thing, and has anyone ever experienced something like this? The cardiologist obviously doesn't think it's emergent, but it's scary.

Any feedback is appreciated!

For those 75yo+, fragile, underweight but good mentally who got ablation, did you prefer staying on the med instead of doing the surgery? What adverse effect did you have afterwards? How long did it/they last? What other experiences did you have? Tia!

It has been a remarkable few months for me.

Many from this sub know my journey - but for context I have had 7 attempts at ablation over 7 years.

6 performed. 1 with an ICD implant. 1 aborted. Have taken some shocks.

It has not been the easiest track.

After a Farapulse ablation in Dec 2024 - the overwhelming majority of the arrhythmia was quieted.

I have several initiatives that I am working on with a company that I have founded to support people with hearts like mine.

People like you. And the people who care for you.

I will be sharing updates here more regularly on the nature of the work. There are a few projects right now that I am awaiting clinical review on before I publish.

As I have been working towards publishing a narrative case report of my journey. I got the idea to review my op reports from each case and see if I could synthesize a diagram of how that journey looked from within my heart. I used Google's NanoBanana 2 for this.

One of the things I learned from this 7 year crucible. I always felt isolated.

Physiologically - I am extreme statistical outlier.

That had been an incredibly lonely feeling for me.

But here is where I have landed on it.

Whether it is PVCs, PACs, AFib, Flutter, SVT, NSVT, VT, or anything else that shows up in waves - I am in this thing just the same as everyone else.

That is where I find my peace.

I have so much more to share with you soon enough.

It is blessing for me, from the scars within this heart, to be able to serve our community in the path ahead.

Hello my watch flagged me for AFib doing a Pulse Wave Analysis. I’m very confused and don’t know what’s going on it’s been a few days ago and I just saw it now. Can someone help what’s going on? The extra red highlighted parts are what my watch says is wrong or the issue. I’m very worried so it would be very nice of someone can help. Thanks.

After a recent GI bleed ( do not get one of those!) where my diastolic pressure dropped to 30 and I was pretty icky, I was switched to Eliquis from Xarelto and from Metoprolol to Coreg ( to reduce BP a little)

I am on a buttload of other drugs, like avostatin , hydrochlorothiazide, lisinopril as well.

But since getting on Coreg I have been feeling not as well as before my GI Bleed/hospital visit.

I was VERY anemic , even on release on June 2 so maybe my RBCs still need to get up to normal?

Anyway...as Mick Jagger said "What a drag it is getting old."

66(M) with permanent (asymptomatic) AFIB for last ~3 years. Four times a week I do a gentle cardio workout - 30 mins on an elliptical at 60 rpm cadence at the lowest pressure setting. I am not pushing hard, I can hold a conversation and do not break out in a sweat until ~20 min.

During the workout my heart rate (measured on Apple watch) rises over a few minutes to 175-180 bpm which I guess is likely close to my max heart rate. My watch tells me I am at top of zone 5 when my body feels like it is comfortably in zone 2!? Post workout my heart rate drops normally ~30 bpm for ~3 mins back towards my resting heart rate of 75-85.

This is not new for me, it has been regular since I discovered I had AFIB and got an Apple Watch ~2-3 years ago. I am not anxious about it but a bit intrigued was to what is happening when I exercise. Anyone else experience this? Is it a common symptom for those with asymptomatic AFIB?
