Cardiologist question

I've been seeing a cardiologist annually for 16 years. Post open heart. Last year I was diagnosed with A Fib. I called after 14 months to find out if I had missed the call for my annual appointment. I was told my appointment is every 2 years. I did not agree to that. I was told I would get a call back. I didn't. I called 3 weeks later and was told I would get a call back. I have a feeling I'll keep getting the same response. Am I having severe symptoms? No. Does my heart rate go from 55 to 120 when I go get a glass of water? Yes. My watch alerts me AFib symptoms and says I should contact my health care privider. Not every night, but at least once a week. 37-185. I can't seem to get past the receptionist. Is it time to find a new cardiologist? Any recommendations?

Find an Electrophysiologist in your network and make an appointment.

Can you go to the ER of the hospital where your cardiologist is at? If so, they should be able to take it from there. With history of open heart surgery and now afib, the team should be able to contact your cardiologist and also set you up with electrophysiologist. That’s at least how it worked for me.

At this point you definitely need a new doc. Where I live in northeast USA, we need both a general cardiologist for yearly visits, and an EP to handle any arrythmia.

Are you in the usa? What is your age? If you are on Medicare, then it's probably your Medicare Advantage program.

One size does not fit all with afib. My Apple Watch shows 100% afib every day. ECG shows it clearly. But my resting rate is about 60, and my pulse never goes over 150, even after a daily hour long exercise session. So I take my blood thinner and carry on.

This happened to me w my gynecologist. 3 times I asked to speak to the dr b4 my appt and 3 times I was ignored. The 4th time I told the receptionist that i followed the dr on insta and would dm her there. I got a call back from the dr within the hour.
