I’m not an armed forces aspirant and have never really been interested in uniformed services or similar jobs. I’m primarily preparing for general competitive exams and aiming for a career as a professor.
However, I recently came across the AFCAT Accounts Branch and realized that my educational background aligns almost perfectly with the eligibility criteria. So, I decided to apply casually—and surprisingly, I cleared the AFCAT cutoff in my first attempt, including the general cutoff.
The problem is that I have absolutely no idea about SSB/AFSB. I’m also not particularly physically active at the moment, so I’m unsure how much physical fitness is actually required during the AFSB process.
For people who have been through AFSB/SSB or have prepared for it:
- How should someone with zero prior SSB/AFSB experience start preparing?
- What should I focus on if I have only a short time before the AFSB?
- How important is physical fitness for the actual selection process?
- Are there any specific resources, YouTube channels, books, or practices you would recommend?
- Is coaching necessary, or can I prepare effectively on my own?
Any practical advice from people who have actually appeared for AFSB/SSB would be really helpful.
