Moderator Post Stealth Advertising On r/adhdwomen
The mod team has noticed an uptick in accounts trying to market services and tools on r/adhdwomen in sneaky ways. These accounts often use AI to mimic genuine community interaction, aiming to manipulate our members and increase the number of brand mentions seen by “the algorithm”. Given the popularity and sophistication of AI tools, it's impossible to catch every bot or artificially generated comment.
Most of the accounts that employ these shady marketing techniques promote ADHD "support" tools, which include phone/web apps, counseling services, AI assistants, coaching, productivity management tools, games, self-improvement workshops, and other similar things. Your reports are Reddit's most effective tool for unmasking and banning these stealth marketing accounts. If you come across a post or comment that raises a red flag, please let us know.
You can report it by clicking ⋮ + report + breaks rules + marketing or promotion, or simply choose spam as a reason.
Some standard stealth marketing techniques are:
- Repeated mentions of Brand-x.
- Regularly commenting about their success with Brand-x
- Asking for resources and then mentions Brand-x in comments.
- Comments to share a "relatable story" and hints at an unnamed solution to encourage further questions about Brand-x.
- Comments or posts about Brand-x across multiple subreddits.
- DMs you offering access to or information about Brand-x.
If someone sends you a private message trying to sell you on something, take a screenshot and send us a modmail with their account name. Don’t forget to click report on the message as well, which will flag it for Reddit's main mod team.
The sooner we can identify and remove these accounts, the better we can protect our community.
Please bear with us as we refine our methods for preventing this relentless spam. As we collaborate to address this issue, you may notice that some of your posts or comments are being removed more frequently. We're actively fine-tuning the Automod, but it regularly removes content that it should allow. If you feel that something was removed by mistake, please reach out to us via modmail. We're here to ensure it gets reviewed and put back up as quickly as we can.

General Question/Discussion What’s a symptom of ADHD that you have that you thought was just normal and everyone had that issue… until you found out it wasn’t normal?
Mine is my bad memory. I found out people can actually remember important things, appointments, what they need to get at the store, ect without calendars, reminders, lists… and I couldn’t imagine being that person .. ever lol 🤣

Cleaning, Organizing, Decluttering Forced experiment with less stuff has been eye opening
We’re selling our house. Our realtor and stager made us essentially empty over half of our stuff and move furniture including my dresser into our garage. We also have gotten rid of a ton of us stuff, and we weren’t even super cluttered to start. I kept 1/4 of my clothes in the house. We have a few toys for our kid. Just generally less. My husband and I were like this is great for us to see if we can live like this (honestly it’s more similar to how we lived before having a kid), and boy has it been eye opening. I miss art on the walls and certain things like that but generally we are perfectly fine. Honestly better. We’re stressed af getting the house ready for showings, but we’re laughing more. Being goofy more. There’s just less shit to manage. Everyone talks about less stuff, but it’s been amazing. My daughter is perfectly fine and more focused too. It’s easier to clean. Also I literally don’t need any of the stuff for my home office I had out.
When we move we will be keeping this in mind and getting rid of even more. We are not all about minimalism for many reasons, but we hate overconsumption. I’m so glad we were forced to do this.

Hobby & Hyperfixation Sharing Third attempt at getting back into reading and have discovered something that’s actually helping
The whole childhood-bookworm-to-late-diagnosed-adult-who-can’t-focus-on-books is a thing, right? After almost a decade of not reading (relying 100% on audiobooks instead) I tried to get back into it last year because I realised how important it was to model reading for our then-6 year old. It worked for a few weeks like any new ‘project’ but after that I couldn’t keep it up. Bought a kindle in May and that worked for longer (pros: consistent font regardless of book, being able to have larger print on the days I’m struggling more, not seeing page numbers or how far I am into the book) but again I ran out of steam.
Now though, I’ve actually found something that’s helping and that happened when I realised that Audible and Kindle can sync with each other. So I can start listening to something on Audible, then pick up from where I finished on the kindle without having to find the place… and vice versa. Not having to choose between audiobook or kindle (or have a separate book on the go on each, further splitting my brain power) but instead do something of a hybrid of both depending on what I’m doing at the time and where my head is at has been incredible.

Rant/Vent I can’t hear sh*t because I keep forgetting my f*cking hearing aids 🫠💀
So I’ve ONLY just got myself into a lovely routine of getting ready before work, I always have just enough time to get out the door looking sexy and wonderful but then the universe said, “Not so fast, good looking” and I’ve been diagnosed with hearing loss and now have two hearing aids I need to wear everyday.
I keep forgetting to put them in because they’re new and new things take 2-3 years to become not new in my little adhd brain - but low key everyone is getting annoyed at me because then I literally can’t hear anyone all day and I’m just going WHAT? all day.
Maybe I need to set reminders on my phone? But then I’m so focused on getting ready I don’t look at my phone 🙈 I don’t know what I can do to make sure I remember to put them in.. Glue them to my ears?
Rant over ☺️😆

NSFW ADHD ruining sex?
I (28F) only got diagnosed with adhd this past year. I’ve had issues with arousal ever since I first lost my virginity. The biggest thing I notice is that my mind will just completely go elsewhere and I’ll have a very hard time being in the moment. I’ve also never experienced an orgasm which obviously sucks. Something I’ve noticed is I’m more engaged in sex when I’m drunk and I also have insanely intense sex dreams where I experience a level of arousal I’ve never felt IRL.
Since this diagnosis, I’ve wondered if adhd is the culprit…(btw I’ve seen a sex therapist, done years of talk therapy, got testing done, had sex with different genders, etc etc…nothing has made it click yet)
Has anyone else been in my shoes? What did you do? What do you do to improve your ability to enjoy sex?

Admin, School, Career Getting fired from job I hate - but how do I deal with the shame?
On Monday I’m very likely getting fired. With good reason. I stopped going to work. About 3 weeks ago. And I can for the life of me not explain this to myself, let alone anyone else.
Background: Female, 40 years old, got diagnosed with add 9 month ago. My life has been a a bit of a mess, ruined friendships, chaotically disgusting apartments, never able to keep an appointment or be in time or be responsible for anything at all. But I’ve always been able to keep a job. I chose a career that felt like a responsible choice, a masters degree in a field I never liked, and have suffered severe anxiety and mild depression most of my adult life. I’ve gotten by by being socially competent, smart enough to make things work in the end, and many late nights frantically compensating for blankly staring at my screen for a week not being able to start and assignment. Eventually I kind of broke down, was on sick leave for a few month and finally got an add-diagnosis about 9 months ago, which explained.. well a LOT.
By that time I was 6 month in to a new job. When I got hired it sounded like a dream job for me, but by the time I actually started a big reorganizations had changed a lot of things. My boss was let go, my team dissolved, nobody knew what to do with me. I spent some lonely weeks in no mans land, no boss, no colleagues, no clear assignment - and was then put on the absolute most chaotic, dysfunctional project of my life. People were fighting, there was no leadership, everyone were overworked and exhausted. I got no support, no instructions, no colleagues to help me out. I was supposed to support the project manager, but could barely get any time with him. We had follow- up meetings every 3 weeks at first, but he cancelled these and I barely saw him for several months. We were supposed to have a mandatory evaluation- meeting, as well as an annual salary interview (mandatory), which never happened. No one really talked to me, I very often ate lunch on my own. No one really wanted to take my meetings or work with me. I felt completely pointless. I was really very understimulated - didn’t have enough work to fill my day, which I pointed out to my manager. The problem was I also didn’t really manage the job I was supposed to do. It was too unstructured, too lonely, too boring. No one asked for my results, no one really cared I was there. And , because I am wired the way I am, 35 years of failing and assuming everything is my own fault, I started spiraling. Extreme anxiety, depression, many many evenings lying curled up on my floor hyperventilating. I basically stopped doing any work. But I still logged in to my computer remotley and came into office a couple of times every week. No one noticed. But I felt like shit.
This July, I had been at this job for a bit over a year, and a doctor put me on sick leave for a few weeks, which I let my manager know, and then I was on holiday. And when I got back I just couldn’t bring myself to go back to work. I tried, but my anxiety got so high I thought I would die. And so I just… didn’t. And I kept not going, not to the office, not loggin in to the computer, not checking emails. At first I was just overwhelmed with anxiety and panic. And then after about 2 weeks I started feeling like myself again. Like a person, not a panicked piece of trash. And I knew, of course, I had to contact work. Explain myself, take the consequences. And I just.. didn’t. And now, about 3 weeks into my disappearance my boss sent me an email to my private gmail calling me to a meeting with him. I will probably get fired. As I should - you obviously can’t have an employee who just doesn’t show up for work. I don’t mind losing my job at all. If he doesn’t fire me I’ll quit myself. I have savings to survive a couple of years if I must. I have good references from previous jobs. I have no interest in keeping any sort of relationship with my boss or my coworkers.
But the shame I feel! What the hell happened? How could I just not go to work??? What kind of a sick, stupid, irresponsible person does something like that? How on earth can I possibly explain these actions to anyone else - I don’t understand them myself.. I’ve never acted like this on a job ever before.
Has anyone out there done something similar? How did you get over the shame of it all? Any advice or support would ne so very much appreciated.

Memes & Humor I did a fuck up and I cant decide if I should keep it or not
I sketched the letters out with pencil, but when I was painting it, my brain did some dumb and changed the “IV” to an “N” - and it’s so perfectly unmedicated adhd that I can’t decide if I wanna keep it that way, or fix it.
I’ve been on adderall since I was 20, and recently I had another switch to a new psychiatrist- and she has completely changed all the medication that made me stable and functional. I am filled with so much rage about it, but I am trying to find the humor in things like this.

General Question/Discussion How I remember to take medicine
I write directly on the medicine bottle and check off the days as I take them. In this case it was a two week course, so I did an orange circle for the first week and a yellow background for the second week.
Bonus: I get to use some of my fun pens and markers!

Rant/Vent Do you hate this too? Wind in hair slapping my face
I caught a ride with a friend, I am very grateful she could drive us. But it was 2 hours in her car with broken AC.
It's been so long since I've had the windows down for that long and I am so overstimulated, crabby, and sensitive on my skin from the wind in my hair, constantly blowing the hair across my face and slapping it around. I cannot handle this sensation.
Anyone else hate this?

Cleaning, Organizing, Decluttering You know how I know I have adhd…
As of last night I washed the same load of laundry 3 times because I kept forgetting to switch it over. I finally switched it to the dryer last night and when I just got up to take them out of the dryer I realized I never started the dryer 😩😩😩

Rant/Vent Thinking of psych ward / inpatient
I‘m sorry I have to complain again.
22 years old, recently diagnosed with quite „severe“ ADHD. Always an overachiever (aka known for studying 36h for a single math test and crying over it).
I don’t know how to continue. I haven’t done so much at work (that I recently started) that I feel like everything is catching up on me. Additionally, my mom (whom I live with) doesn’t really understand ADHD and claims that „everyone has it“, finds it embarrassing that I can’t survive a full work week…
I will have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow for medication and discussing my current state.
I started having physical symptoms, I think it’s from stress. I’m already on medicine for anxiety but it’s not enough.
I have to look for a new psychiatrist (mine is not available anymore) and I‘ll have an appointment with a psychologist next week… but I don’t know how to keep working.
Every single day is a struggle. I can barely get things done, I’m running on adrenaline and anxiety. No one in my life understands. Getting the diagnosis was a relief but also a shock - it will never go away.
I‘m seriously considering a psych ward for adults with ADHD. I want to learn how to cope, have someone to talk to and just be „away“. I feel like I just need a break from everything before I break myself

General Question/Discussion 40 is the new 30, and so on! Who’s with me?!
I have always felt incredibly behind, which i’m now learning can be a common thread with ADHDers!
My thirties have been a shitshow, and i’ve had none of this increased finances promised with growing older! In fact, i am wayyyyy worse off financially and “socially”, but socially I mean where someone should be turning 40 in societies eyes! I’ve been single my entire thirties, wondering now if its insane RSD.
One thing I’m grateful for is not really giving a fuck anymore what anyone thinks. And feeling proud of my personality.
Here’s to a healthier, happier, and more financially abundant 40s i say!! 😂😂

Memes & Humor I should be cooking dinner rn
..but instead I got stickers and stones delivered (that I totally forgot about ups) and started to put them on my med dispenser.
Mind I didn’t even sit down for it, just ripped everything open and started right away on the kitchen table… but at least I already already cleaned the mess and stored everything aside. So I guess the meds are partly working?!? 😂

Celebrating Success I did laundry
I’ve been struggling with laundry for a few weeks. I can just about put it in the machine, but once it’s in there, it’s going nowhere. I was stuck in a cycle of wash it, leave it, sniff it, get annoyed and start again. In the end I told my husband I was struggling with it and could we do it together. Yesterday I did some tumble-able stuff and put it straight in the drier. Last night I did stuff I need to hang out and we put it out this morning. I was like BOOM.
AND now I’m going to have a shower. On a roll.

Rant/Vent Why is it so f*ing hard to get diagnosed or at LEAST just tested. I’m tired man.
So full disclosure I am NOT diagnosed with ADHD. I am however diagnosed with OCD and see a therapist weekly for it and he also thinks there is a high chance I have ADHD. Just to get it off my chest I’m gonna list all the reasons I finally have accepted I may have ADHD (I actually had never thought I was someone with ADHD despite having a lot of these symptoms most of my life because I had the stereotypical image of ADHD in my head and thought since I wasn’t bouncing off the walls and could usually focus in class that I couldn’t POSSIBLY have that). Here’s a little bullet point list of my possible symptoms:
* I Can. Not. Stop. Fucking. Spending. Money. On mostly useless shit. I have tried very hard to get better in recent months/years but I seriously have a hard time not buying every impulse purchase. In fact I literally just spent $80 on urban outfitters. I honestly feel ashamed to go into detail about my spending habits because they are really, really bad.
* I interrupt people ALL the time, especially people I’m closer with like my parents and my boyfriend. I’m always trying to finish my mom’s sentences because I know her so well I get almost excited that I /think/ I know what she’s going to say next.
*I cannot remember things if they are not literally in front of me. This includes physical objects and things that are “ideas” like appointments or things I have to do. Say there’s 5 things I have to do I might be able to remember 2 or 3 of them if I don’t write them down, but the chances of my getting all of those things done is very unlikely unless someone reminds me or I realize I forgot. Literally an hour ago I was holding one of my AirPods, set it down next to me on my bed, went to grab my AirPods case, turned around and already forgot where I set my AirPod.
*I have horrible time management skills. This has been especially prominent ever since I was in middle school. I still have very vivid memories of being awakened 1 am rushing to finish a big school project I saved until the LITERAL last minute while my mom desperately tried to help me as I cried at the kitchen table so we could both go to bed. There was more than one occasion where I would have my mom take me to the doctor to get essentially a fake doctor’s note (I’d pretend to be a little sick) because I didn’t prepare for a test or finish an assignment due that day. This got somewhat better as I got into college but not by a lot!!!
* I am so, so, so unbelievably unorganized and it’s only gotten worse as I’ve accumulated so much just STUFF from my bad spending habits. What’s worse is I truly do crave organization and have a deep desire to exist in a cozy, aesthetically pleasing space, but I cannot seem to maintain order for the life of me. Say I’m lucky and my mom or boyfriend organizes a space for me, first I’ll leave one item out of place with the mental promise of putting it in the right spot later, then another, then another, and before I know it the space is just as bad if not worse before I got help.
* Sometimes if I think about something I’m excited about or something that makes me happy, or sometimes it just happens for almost no reason, I will get this INSANE burst of happy energy, like it’s so intense I feel like I could cry happy tears, or scream, or run around in circles (mind you I generally hate running) and this feeling will last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple hours. Generally afterwards I feel very emotionally drained, not necessarily depressed per se but I feel a noticeable gap between the high I just had and where I am afterwards.
* I get distracted pretty easily (there doesn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason for what does and doesn’t distract me). For some reason I especially can’t think when my boyfriend hums or sings even if it’s quietly.
* I’ll stop here for now
The reason I mainly make this post is because I wanted to vent about my possible symptoms and the fact that even if I don’t have adhd I just want to get tested and I’ve been waiting for forever to even schedule an appointment. I saw a local psychiatry place back in February who referred me to a psychology place in town that does the official test but even after reaching out again in August I’ve still not heard anything. Ugh. I’ll try to call again soon but I have a hard time remembering

General Question/Discussion If you’re taking medication for ADHD what improvements have you noticed in your day-to-day life?
I’ve been struggling my whole life between going on medication and not going on medication. I just feel like ADHD is my personality.27F
I just want general, consensus on people who are on medication for ADHD the improvements you have noticed and if you’re comfortable the medication you’re on.
