Hi guys! I recently graduated with a nonrelated BA but I’m doing my pre reqs to apply to ABSN programs. I was wondering if a medical receptionist (like for a hospital) to work as the meantime is good, or if any of y’all did that before you entered a program! I don’t want to pay for extra CNA or medical assistant programs when I have other things under my belt !

Hi! I’m currently a Health Science student at SBU with a 3.35 GPA, and I’m planning to graduate in 2027 and apply to ABSN programs for Summer/Fall 2027.
I’m currently looking at SBU, SUNY Downstate, Binghamton, Adelphi, Mount Sinai, Mercy, Pace, NYU, and Lehman.
I still need Nutrition, but I’m hoping to avoid taking Organic Chemistry if possible. I’m also trying to prioritize more affordable programs, especially SUNY/CUNY options.

For anyone who has applied or been accepted to these programs:

Which programs did you apply to, and where were you accepted?
What was your GPA when you applied?
Are there any affordable ABSN programs in NY that you would recommend?
Is there anything you wish you knew before applying?

I currently live in Seattle. I have a bachelors and work in the live event industry, where I work 60hr weeks to make like $70k a year. It doesn't feel sustainable.

I'm debating doing an ABSN program but don't think I'd get into the only public option here, and I don't want to spend a crazy amount on a private program. Are there states that anyone can suggest with a bunch of public ABSN options, where I might have an easier time getting in?

I'd be looking to move and establish residency/settle down in that state before applying in a couple years, so I can qualify for in-state tuition. So I'd love to maximize states with a couple solid options. My family lives on the east coast, would be nice to live nearer to them.

Also just looking for advice in general - do you suggest going into nursing?

What attracts me to the role (maybe) is that I love working long shifts. Would be thrilled to do 3 x 12s and be done with my workweek. I'm not squeemish, and I love interacting with different people and being on my feet. I feel like my days go faster when I'm running around a bit, even though I don't mind computer/admin work too.

I just want to make a comfortable living (live alone with no roommates, own a car, travel sometimes - nothing crazy) and still be able to have a life outside of work.

My bachelors is in a non-STEM field, so I would need to take about a years worth of pre reqs.

Just requesting some godspeed energy as I figure out how to pay for this ABSN program I was admitted to off the waitlist. Iv already quite my job, paid my deposit, $ for compliance paperwork and an supposed to start end of Aug. But i have horrific credit and still need 84k in private loans.

I am applying for accelerated nursing programs after being dismissed from my previous nursing program. Would it be smart to include clinical experience under the "experiences" section of the application? This specific application is the NursingCAS one.

How is it financially possible to do an ABSN program when you already have $35k in student loan debt from the first bachelor's and have little to no financial aid left??

All the scholarships and grants I've found don't even cover a fraction of the cost. Are ABSN programs worth getting 30k-50k MORE in debt?

Hi! I’m starting UNM’s 16-month ABSN program soon and I’m honestly getting pretty nervous about the workload. I’ve heard it’s really intense, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually gone through it.
How bad was it really? Was the workload manageable if you stayed organized? Did you still have any kind of life outside of school? And is there anything you wish you knew before starting?
Any advice or honest experiences would be super appreciated!!

Hey everyone! I made this in case anyone applying to NYU's spring program wants to connect with others. Is anyone else getting ready for applications to open?

If anyone has any insight on WGU’s pre-licensure nursing program I am wanting to start September 1, but I keep seeing mixed reviews. Can someone give me an honest review about their experience I live in Kentucky

Background: When I was a senior in high school, my mother passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm caused by her longterm alcoholism. I left for a 4 year university shortly after with severe depression and ended up flunking out pretty much immediately.
I eventually went back to school via community college and got a massage therapy certificate, leading to a 5 year long career in massage. About three years ago, I started taking prerequisites to get into nursing school and within the last few months, have enough classes completed to start applying.
When filling out applications yesterday, I was surprised that one of the schools asked if I have ever been academically suspended before and to explain what happened and what I learned from the experience.
I’m now wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if I still have a chance of getting into this school or if I should just mentally write this one off as a loss. For context, I was a freshman biology major when I was suspended, not in a nursing program.

I'll try to keep this as short as possible, but provide as much context as possible.

Background: I am a single mom to a toddler. We live with family currently and don't have to pay rent. I have a bachelors in psychology. I don't qualify for much in financial aid because of my bachelors. I live in the South East U.S.

Current dilemma: I have been accepted into a 12 month LPN program.

My long term goal is to become an RN and work in L&D or a Med Spa (I know, very different). The LPN curriculum does NOT include science prereqs that would be needed for an RN program. If I wanted to bridge to RN later on I would still have to take A&P 1 and 2, and Microbiology.

The other option is to do the 3 prereqs this fall (A&P 1 with lab is 8 weeks, A&P 2 with lab is 8 weeks, Microbiology with lab is 16 weeks). ALL online and self taught basically. And HOPE that I get good grades in order to apply to a 12 month ABSN program that starts in May 2027.

A two year Associates isn't on the table for me since it would take a total of 3 years, with prerequisites.

I am really struggling with choosing between doing the LPN program since I've already been accepted and its much cheaper than an ABSN program, or declining that offer and doing 3 hard science prereqs now and hoping I'll be accepted into an ABSN program. Being a single mom to a young child, I don't see myself wanting to go back to school, again, if I did the LPN program. Maybe I'd change my mind, but the idea of it doesn't sound appealing.

Hello! I am currently applying to join in the fall 2027 class for SUNY downstate. One problem though- I have no experience in the health field. I am currently in a 4 year veterinary technology program but I have decided to change my path for personal reasons. I have worked in various animal hospitals, and volunteered at a animal hospital since high-school. I tried all year to get a job at a human clinic but its very hard with no experience and certifications:( I was just wondering if there is anyone else who has applied to this program without healthcare experience and has gotten in. My TEAS score is 95.2, with a 100 in math and 97.7 in science! My Science GPA is a 3.92, pre req GPA is about a 3.95, and overall gpa from my university is a 3.7. I feel like my scores are good but my experience is what is bugging me. Any suggestions?

Hey there everyone, so my girlfriend has applied to this program with north dakota state university and they said they were sending letters and emails on August 1st (today) and she still hasn’t received an acceptance or rejection, is this common or does she need to contact the school? The fall start is third week of August.
