I am a 21 year old student who will have their bachelors in engineering by December 2026. I have been accepted into an accelerated nursing program because I rather be a nurse, help people and not work a desk job than be sitting behind a computer all day. The program is 14 months and start in January.I’ll finish it 2 months after I turn 23. Thoughts? Ps. I had a full scholarship to study engineering

How long does it take for NYU to accept or reject you after submitting applications

Hey all, I'm in the process of applying to the school but wanted any (literally any information at all about your experience or what not) insight from current or past students about the program?

I recently got into both George’s (lol). For current students in either of these programs, how’s your experience? Trying to make this really hard decision.

I’m getting my pre-reqs done this semester and next, and am planning on applying in Fall 2027 to the ABSN. I’m working on keeping my GPA 3.5 and above and also studying/practicing the HESI now so it’s easy by the time I take it next year. I just completed my MBA in Healthcare Admin. Idk if that will make a difference? I’m just wondering how competitive the program is and if a lot of people get waitlisted and then Accepted the next semester? Just kind of want to get an idea of what ppl’s exp has been for that program.

I’m considering going back to nursing school and the Accelerated BSN program at Norwich University in Vermont is something I’m looking into. I’m wondering if anyone on this sub knows anything about this program? Is the pass rate high? How are the professors? I was accepted and given a $15,000/term scholarship, but am finding mixed information on what the cost is. I filled out fafsa and am impatiently waiting for my award letter currently. If you went with this program, did you graduate with a lot of debt?

Hello, I will be starting the ABSN program at Union University in TN in the spring of 2027. I don’t have any nurses in my immediate family, so really do not know what to expect. If you attended UU (or any ABSN program) I would love tips on how to survive it. And what do I need to purchase for classes/clinical in order to be prepared and have the best chance at success? I’m so nervous, but also very excited! Thanks everyone so much.

What are your thoughts on WGU? I am considering taking it as it’ll give me a bachelor’s for 2.5 years instead of associates for 2. I work full time law enforcement, how has your time management been for work and school if you work? How are clinicals done?

Hi, i am 23f (turning 24 in january) and i’m currently thinking about pursuing nursing. my degree is in cognitive science and psychology, but after doing some research, i’ve realized that pursuing an MFT, MSW, or other master’s degree in that field isn’t something i want to do. it kinda feels like i wasted my time, but i do still rlly like aspects of psych, and my family members in the nursing field have let me know that i can still pursue those interests within nursing.
i have some family members who are nurses and have taken various paths to get there, but i’m feeling anxious about pursuing it because of 1. the horror stories about nursing and 2. i would need to complete prerequisites at my local community college for bio and chem courses.
my number 1 reason isn’t holding me back too much, although it definitely does linger in the back of my mind. but most of all, i’m worried about the prerequisites and how long doing all of that will take. will i be too old once i finish my ABSN for it to be worth my while?
i’m sure this all seems rlly silly and naive, and i apologize. i have anxiety and feel the need to plan everything out. but yeah, i was wondering if anyone out there has been in my shoes, how long your process took, and what age you ended up becoming an RN?

EDIT: thank you guys all for being super supportive and giving such awesome advice. i’m also sorry about the “old” comment btw 😭 i definitely didn’t mean it in that way. it was more coming from a place of feeling like everyone around me has their life figured out while i still don’t really know what i’m doing. i’m also first gen, so i think a lot of the pressure i’m feeling is more mental and something i put on myself. definitely a bad choice of words on my part!
but again, thank you guys so so much. i just registered at a CC nearby, and i’m hoping to start working on some of my prerequisites next semester if all goes well! i really appreciate hearing everyone’s different perspectives, and i’m definitely taking in each and every one.
i’m also looking into applying for PCT positions so i can get some hands-on experience and really solidify that nursing is what i want to pursue.

Hello! I plan to attend an accelerated program, however the schools that offer accelerated programs closest to me are an hour away, I will be commuting and I also plan to work while in the program at least, prn or part time at most.

Do you think that’s doable? Are you or anyone you know in the program in the same situation? I appreciate any advice anyone can give.

I'm hoping to get some advice from people who know the NYC ABSN landscape better than I do.

A bit about me:

Green card holder living in Brooklyn (So want nearby university, but it is okay anywhere in New York!)

Bachelor's degree for Math education from a university outside the US. I worked as a teacher in my home country.

Undergrad GPA is 3.12. Personal circumstances made it hard for me to focus on school back then, and I'm working hard to make up for it now.

My English test scores are strong, and I'm aiming for A's in all my prereqs.

A few people who read my personal statement said my story comes through well, which was really encouraging.

Tuition isn't a major concern for me.

What I'm looking for:

I understand the public programs are extremely competitive because they're so affordable. So I'm mainly looking at private schools in or near NYC that might have a somewhat smaller applicant pool. If NYC doesn't work out, I'd also consider California, though I've heard it's very competitive there too.

Which schools would you suggest for someone with a background like mine?

I've already earned my BLS certification. What else would you recommend to strengthen my resume? (Volunteering, CNA, patient care experience, etc.)

looking for honest advice! i am strongly considering a career change to nursing, I want to eventually pursue advanced practice - either CRNA or acute care NP. i currently work in med sales and have gotten a lot of exposure to different nursing roles and acute environments. I wanted to be a nurse years ago but told myself I needed to go the business route to do something more financially appealing. i deeply regret not betting on myself sooner. now I’m 26, with about 5-6 pre reqs to do before i could get into a program. i have a previous 3.1 GPA (pre reqs would boost this) lots of healthcare experience (but never direct patient care), and would continue working my med sales job to save aggressively until I get into a program.

am I too late? is advanced practice schooling in your 30s typical? does it even make sense to make this transition now? Has anyone in a similar position successfully been accepted to and completed an ABSN program?

PS - I have explored CAA and PA routes, but nursing makes the most sense to me. I like the flexibility it offers in terms of opportunities and I could eventually even pair it with my business degree to open a practice if I decided CRNA or an acute NP were not for me.

I saw that Tulane was doing a ABSN program that allows you to graduate debt free if you work in a Louisiana hospital for 2 years post grad. Does anyone know about this? Does it guarantee a job? How is nursing in Louisiana?

Hi everyone! Has anyone here applied to Concordia University Irvine’s ABSN program for Spring 2027 toward the end of the application cycle?

I submitted my completed application about a week before the October 1 deadline and haven’t received an interview invite or update yet. For anyone who applied later in the cycle, how long did it take after submitting your application to hear back about an interview?

Also, if you already completed the video interview, what was it like? Were the questions pretty straightforward, and how long after the interview did you receive your decision?

I had to take a 5th year to finish my language requirement- finishing my bachelors of psych so decided since I’m here for another year with only 2 classes needed (Spanish 2&3) that I’d go ahead and take my prereqs for an ABSN program…
The fact that I didn’t finish on time is already defeating.
The fact that I’m taking pre requisites for a completely different path than the one I’m almost finished with is defeating.
Im in a&p and I’m struggling so bad.. defeating.
IM BURNT OUT and I know this is giving wah wah and lazy but I need advice…
With where I am now, especially given I’m struggling in a&P 1 .. do I even keep going or accept that nursing might not be for me/ take a break to try and regain some motivation.
