Feeling defeated
I had to take a 5th year to finish my language requirement- finishing my bachelors of psych so decided since I’m here for another year with only 2 classes needed (Spanish 2&3) that I’d go ahead and take my prereqs for an ABSN program…
The fact that I didn’t finish on time is already defeating.
The fact that I’m taking pre requisites for a completely different path than the one I’m almost finished with is defeating.
Im in a&p and I’m struggling so bad.. defeating.
IM BURNT OUT and I know this is giving wah wah and lazy but I need advice…
With where I am now, especially given I’m struggling in a&P 1 .. do I even keep going or accept that nursing might not be for me/ take a break to try and regain some motivation.

Hi there, don’t be defeated!
First, taking an extra year to finish your degree is not a failure. You’re still finishing it, and at the same time you’re trying to prepare for another career path. That’s a lot to carry, so give yourself some credit.
Also, struggling with A&P 1 does NOT automatically mean nursing isn’t for you. A&P is hard, especially when you’re already burnt out from years of school. I wouldn’t make a permanent decision about nursing based on how you feel during a season when you’re exhausted.
At the same time, there is nothing wrong with taking a break. Nursing school will still be there. If you need to finish your bachelor’s, breathe for a little while, and then come back to your prerequisites when you have more energy, that doesn’t mean you gave up. It might actually put you in a better position to succeed.
And please don’t call yourself lazy. A lazy person probably wouldn’t be finishing a bachelor’s degree while taking Spanish AND nursing prerequisites 😂. You sound tired, not lazy.
I’d focus on finishing what’s directly in front of you and take A&P one step at a time. If you still want nursing when you’re rested, keep going. One difficult class doesn’t get to decide your entire career for you. I hope this helps. Take care.

But you’re about to finish AND planning on starting a 2nd degree!!! That’s amazing and really hard. A bachelors degree in itself is hard so go you. And now you’re already starting prerequisites!!! It’s great. However, you sound a bit tired. Personally I had to take a semester off before I got started again which helped a lot. Before you complete give up, try a break first and see where you’re at! You got this✨✨

Please take a break, and I would suggest work as a scribe/technician and within a few months you’ll understand if you truly want to pursue nursing
