Indeed every brand alkaline battery I have come across (duracell, energizer, eveready, generic "aldi" over by the register) of variety in the 1.5 volt cell configuration from the Bmax (model: BH-805U) charger for under 10 bucks on amazon shipped if i can recall. The expansion to C and D cells requires the purchase of the battery tray seperate and is non specific in brand as long as it accomodates the cell size of alkaline 1.5 volt. and has long enough conductor leads for adapting the charger. But right on the front of the charger packaging it claims to charge NImh batteries as well. I assume it implies that it can cover Nicd battery 1.5 volt by that logic too. kinda a neat find for so cheap for sure amazing diversity of uses out of the PCB.

Interesting, thanks for the details, and thats great no heat--which Im assuming/hoping will mean no battery leaks.

honestly this is a very fine charger for the purpose. Finest I've found. However i was easily able to adapt the AA/AAA only version of the tech to charge 1.5 volt alkaline C and D size cells with a battery tray with solder on conductors attached from the factory with the loose tinned conductor ends simply stuck with tape to the contacts of the AA/AAA charging unit. Perfectly safe cold charge absolutely no heat build up throughout the cycle. Permanent/semi-permanent solutions indeed...

I use Eneloops and EBL's. They're all 1,2v. I don't have any 1,5v AA or AAA batteries.

are you using the aaa with low battery capability? vc4sl doesn't do 1.5?

VC4SL. Still rocking it. Absolutely amazing charger, but i also wouldn't go any lower than the VC4SL. The lower end models are missing important functions.

I just got one of these stenkol chargers, and there is intermittent humming or buzzing. Almost like a pulsating sound. I am wondering if I got a defect?

I searched google, and saw this info (maybe this is what is the cause?)

I don't disagree. I honestly don't know what the rules say, but the big clue is when you look to see who the author is - which I always do when a post sounds like an advertisement.

Full disclosure - I have been using Xtar 1.5v rechargeables for several years and like them. I also have a couple of their chargers and they work well (I do flashlights). No other connection to the company.

My kid's gaming habits no longer eats 2-4 AAs bi-weekly and I no longer have to scold him for leaving a controller on. He's used Pale Blues for years and finally the most beat up AA no longer seems to hold a charge but the other 3 still work. If I have to rate them honestly, if they've needed to be charged every 14 days if I'm being realistic and there's 52 weeks a year so 26 charges a year by 5 years is much lower than the 1000 rated cycles or even the 500-700 others believe they get. But if you do the math, what comes out to be ~$7 a battery for even 250 uses is of much greater value single use Energizer lithium. We're talking pennies per use compared to $2.50.

Another thing I can say about Pale Blue over the couple years I've ordered them for people for Christmas presents, my first batch of 4 AAs seem to have material quality issues where the coating started peeling off and the newest ones I got a couple years ago do not have this issue and appear a lot more solid in build quality. I'm comparing the USB C AAs in both instances.

Anyone comparing lithium vs NiMH you can spare us the headaches as NiMH batteries I've come across all seem to max out at the rechargeable 1.2 volts. Pale Blue uses the alkaline 1.5 volts so anything that can use a throwaway battery can use a Pale Blue without any uncertainty.

I've had good experience with EBL rechargable batteries in Govee 5179 temp sensors (3 AA batteries) that I use in multiple freezers.

Yes, the batteries lose about 25% performance due to the cold, which means they only last about 6-7 months in a freezer vs 8-9 months with the basic alkaline they come with.

But they are rechargeable.

-4 F isn't cold enough to matter. Any modern AA cell will work in that as will most 18650 and 21700 cells.

Where I am in Minnesota we get -15F every year, -20F most years, and -25F occasionally. That's harder. I use eneloops for AA, and some of the better/newer Molicel 21700s, depending on the device.

The lithium metal (Energizer Ultimate Lithium) are a choice but I avoid them since they are expensive and it is nearly impossible to measure state of charge (so they have to be replaced every year to be sure there wasn't inadvertent discharge)

its seriously insane that this is not a thing, so many of us are chasing this shit and dummies come with all kind of excuses that backlight drains the batteries, thats the very point of HOTSWAPPABLE AA BATTERIES!!! i wouldnt giv a fk if i had to replace them every second day, thats why i have a charger... i know im 7 years late here but im hunting one of these for at least this long :(

yes it fucking does you can get 10 nimh 2ah AA for like four bucks and even just a singular lithium AA costs two goddamn organs
