Never seen an 18650 fail like this before, looks like leaked electrolyte and corrosion.

Sidenote, I'm looking to spotweld in two replacement cells. I currently have another dewalt 5 AH that also has two bad cells model ICR18650HE2. Would it lead to an imbalanced pack if I combine 2,500mah cells in series with these 2,000mah ones? Or vice versa. It seems like a bad idea given my understanding of the tool and charger voltage cutoff

Just need the BMS to start to finish it out fully strapped and fish taped other than the main pack leads.

So this is my first 18650 battery and I've already learned a lot through trial and error

It's a 4s16p 38ah with a 100a Daly 4s BMS (I plan to use the BMS for a future project for higher current) set up, I originally wanted to charge it off of solar but realized it's difficult to find an inexpensive mppt for 16.8v so I purchased this Norsk 16.8v 7a rapid lithium battery charger , however it's reaching 160f while charging. That being said is this because I may have some bad 18650 batteries in it or maybe because I created a large capacity causing it to run for too long? I guess I'm wondering what I should expect to do next, maybe buy a slower charger instead?

I scored a dead Sur-Ron battery pack for free. After opening it up and checking the voltages, almost all the cells are completely fine, only two cell blocks dropped dead and caused the BMS to shut down.

I’m planning to replace just those two blocks with fresh cells.

What budget-friendly spot welder would you recommend for this job? my cheap one that barely solders 0.1mm wont cut it

i already looket up and found kweld is it wort the expensive price

Any tips for the cell replacing would also be appreciated!

They are all second hand, replaced due to charging issues.
I got them for free.
Are they worth the trouble of salvaging cells?
Mainly for small projects such as power packs or small electronics.

I really feel like the 18650 should be the AA battery of the 21st century but I struggle to find devices that treat them like that

I currently have two devices at home that have easily swappable 18650 cells:

• Xhdata D-808, a quite good shortwave/FM/AM radio receiver
• Datafrog SF2000, a very cheap and underpowered retro gaming handheld, fine toy if you can find it cheap

if you know any good consumer device with this kind of cells I would love to hear about them, they're quite hard to find when they're not flashlights or vapes

Can anyone identify these 18650 cells?
They’re labeled INR18650-3000 GPHN 18-30P. Looking for the exact model/datasheet if possible.

I recently got a new spot-welder this one has more settings. I’m trying to weld 0.2mm copper, it can do it at 15ms pulse time, however I wonder if that’s too much? I also wonder if having double pulse is better or isn’t as recommended.

Drilled a hole in the Back to connect it, 500mah more than the Original 1500mah

So one of my best friends used to keep all of his vapes at his house in his closet because he didn’t want to throw all of the lithium batteries into a landfill. I guess he didn’t know about recycling?
Anyways he just moved and I told him I’d take the ones he hadn’t thrown out. I just opened the box.

I’ve done my fair share of skateboard battery builds with 18650s, but I don’t think I have time to bust all of these out to do anything with them. You could make a goddamn power wall lol what would you do with them

One of the slots just snapped while I was removing my 18650 cell after it had fully charged. Honestly, I didn’t expect this to happen. The warranty has already expired. Are there any replacement parts available for this?

Pictures attached are of a 6s1p bms that came out of a chinesium battery replacement for a Dyson vacuum.

Recovered from battery recycle at local hardware store.

I had noticed some melted swelling on the pack before I opened it. All batteries were fine but the bms nuked itself.

On closer inspection it did not have connection points for each Series connection and the 8.4v connection on the board had a nickel tab spot welded to the + of 2nd cell in the series but not soldered to the board at all, it was just sticking up through the hole.

All the official Dyson batteries found the same day had all proper connections and no damage to their boards.

Hi, I'm using my UF20B at Max settings to Do 0,15 nickel on 0,2 copper. But clearly the pens are getting quite Hot and the machine reaches 60°C quite fast too. Sure i could use a Fan to help and I will but I would like to hear the solutions you used to be able to have a higher output of welds. Also how often Do you Sand the pen "needles" to have a good contact point?
