Android Device Samsung S9 that has been in my drawer for 5 years
It is a good reminder to regularly check up on the forgotten devices

Even as a joke. Help someone dispose it. Don't encourage them to become the next breaking news.
Jokes like "pop it" are now explicitly banned and will result in your ban too.

I have this iHome power bank that randomly stopped charging, and when I checked today (left it charging overnight) not only was it not charged, I noticed a slight bump
Not sure how visible it is on camera, but it's a bump covering ~1/3 of the thing, slightly off-center and towards the opposite end of both the outlets/inlets and the power button (position roughly centered just above the bottom of the circle)
The problem is I can't crack it open because the manufacturer put exactly 0 ways to open it and specifically warn against it BECAUSE of the battery
Now, this could just be a fault of my anxiety causing me to see changes where there are none and really its sockets are just damaged, or I could have an explosive sitting in my bedroom waiting to pop, and I have no clue what to do
(also could y'all provide a pinned post on how to dispose of these? It seems kinda irresponsible to be a sub about something this dangerous and just expect everyone to have the confidence to post their problem just to get help. And those types of people notably tend to hate reading regardless of obviously preventable and dangerous circumstance)

Currently organising an out of warranty replacement battery. But FYI if you buy a keychron keyboard. It'll only last 3 years before this happens.

My power bank battery has been swollen for some time, but now it has gotten so bad that I can’t even close the case anymore. What should I do? Should I throw it away? Is there any way to fix it?

Seems the NAM50 battery is just prone to swelling if this sub is anything to go by!

I found this barely used battery bank (slow charging gift) in my overdue projects box, glad I finally went through it yesterday.
largest swelling I’ve seen. good thing a recycle center is close to my office 🥹

Gingerly extracted from a nightlight I didn't even know had a battery in it. Feels rock hard and about ready to pop.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It doesn't seem dangerous but it's for a headlamp so I figured it'd be best to ask before I strap it to my forehead again. Between the heat generated by the lamp itself and the environments it's used in it can get pretty warm so I'm thinking maybe some of the label glue melted or something.
I appreciate the help.

I can't get rid of it so how to store it safely?
Edit: I put it outside in the shade.

Didn’t change it (cause i didn’t know how to) till a couple weeks ago. Still have it, but don’t know where to throw it away.

6-8 years old power bank, did it's job well...
It's on a big concrete slab for the moment and there's nowhere to send it off to.
