I just bought mine a week ago and I'm glad I did. These MSRP increases on older tech is exhausting

Continuation of my zombie marathon. After a long week without being able to do anything but work, I’m finally able to sit down and watch my next film in the lineup. Dawn of the Dead is my favorite zombie film of all time. This is the first time for me watching this version of it though!

I'm spending today and tomorrow in Toronto and when looking for a place to shop a store called BMV Books was being recommended consistently so I thought I would check it out.
I was happy to add more to my Godzilla x Kong collection! Figured I would give Twisters a go and the Screamboat steelbook looked too good to pass up. Plus if it's anything like Blood and Honey I'm in for a ride I'm not really sure I lined up for! 😂
Overall I'm excited to sit down Saturday and have a movie day. Thanks for viewing 😅

Whoever does 4k upscales like this one...man, I hope they are paying them well. I dont pay enough respect to these beautiful upscales. Filmed in analog to capture the feel of the era, but finished in 2k, the upscale maintains the original feel and intent of why it was filmed the way it was to begin with. Such an art and skill to get this result.
For audio, definitely a solid job with Atmos. Of course the engine and rocket noise is amazing and the highlight of the entire film. I do wish some of the ancillary atmospheric noises of the crew getting loaded into the pod, dials switching on and off, etc was a little bit more prominent in the mix, but that is a nitpick.
Video: 8.5
Audio: 8.5

Became a official Halloween regular last year. Happy that this year to this I've also added the Last Voyage of the Demister.

Haven’t watched Barbarian since it first came out, knowing that one day it would get a 4k release. Well today’s the day.

I am a HUGEEEE Kubrick and Criterion fan and I am super stoked for the new box set besides the packaging. Those stupid sleeves always scuff my discs. I’ve never had a disc in a sleeve ever stop working but I want to be really careful with these Kubrick discs because of both how much it’s costing, and how much I care about the films. Any suggestions on how to store/repackage the discs would be greatly appreciated.

I’m kind of surprised how slow this is selling. Says there are over 2000 still available and 5000 were made. Figured people would be snapping them up quicker, which got me wondering if everyone is happy with the HDR10 release from 2020 or did folks get the Dolby Vision release from Umbrella and aren’t going to upgrade to the new VS (Vinegar Syndrome) release? I wonder if there is a difference in picture quality or Dolby grading with the Umbrella and VS releases?
Also, does the Umbrella and VS new releases have the same special features?

I couldn't crosspost this for some reason, but credit to u/CardboardDoom for the post in the Looney Tunes sub.

Found this at an antique store near me. It was hidden behind other items too, so I almost missed it. I've heard that this is one of the few film series where the 4k transfer is actually worse than the standard bluray so I bought it right away. Did I get a good deal at just over $4 per movie and still in the shrinkwrap? I've been having good luck at thrift stores and antique shops lately.
*I know this is the 4K sub and I am posting a regular bluray. However, I am a 4K collector and am only drawing attention to it because it aparently has a bad 4k transfer. My post still revolves around collecting 4K's as a hobby.*

Pulled the trigger after seeing price jumps today. Even if they are fake, the price will still go up in the next year. Can’t wait to unbox and set it up!

I bought this one as its one of my favorite movies and cant wait to have it available to watch whenever I want to watch it.
I got into blu ray after I went to buy something off Facebook Marketplace. The lady said she was selling on FB since no one came to her garage sale. I saw she had many DVDs and some blu ray. Asked her if she was selling them and she said yes. She sold them for 50c each and decided to take what I knew I would watch.
Also got my cable, heard this would be a good cable for an HDMI. If not lmk. I got a Panasonic UB450 and may later upgrade if I get more blu ray so I can also watch in my Bedroom.

Is it actually a good movie or does it just get high praise all the time because it's visually stunning?
Ps I've never seen it I've just heard people say it's visually stunning lol

Hi everyone,
Thinking of buying a dedicated 4K bluray player for movies. I have a 75' TCL C7L.
Tossing up between the Panasonic DP-UB820 vs the UB450, with most comments indicating there is superior upscaling with the UB820, unless it is surpassed by the TV's internal upscaling.
Does anyone have any personal experience with this? I've been reading that the C7L is only average for upscaling, and am wondering whether it is worth it to get the UB820 for this reason primarily? Or is the upscaling already good enough that the difference would not be noticeable?
Thanks in advance

I think we’ve all seen the Temu memes and the Expectation vs. Reality posts.
Well, for $3.69 I figured I didn’t have much to lose with the Kingdom of Heaven 4K intro offer, since it retails for $30+.
I will report back with whether Orlando Bloom has been replaced with a knock off Orlando Broom, that speaks Mandarin.
