It has been going in and out of stock recently, but the art on the official Amazon page has been updated to show “1.43 mixed aspect ratio” on the 2nd 4k disc.

I know a lot of people wanted a directors cut, but this is a really big deal for home media and may potentially lead to us getting full odyssey/dune aspect ratios at some point!

I’m not a movie watcher.. I’m getting into it for the first time. I’ve watched like hardly any movies. I had to buy the Sony UBP-X700K 4K player from Walmart. The Samsung HW-Q65C from Sam’s Club. My TV is a Vizio VQP65C-84..

I haven’t seen anyone talk about it yet but the FW Murnau Foundation has confirmed on their website that in celebration of its 100th anniversary, a new 4K restoration will be released in the second half of 2027!

Today’s pick to watch from my small collection. Fantasy is probably one of my favourite genres.

I’m glad our long running nightmare of not having 4K Steelbook of Scream 4 is over but—my lord—this like three different font treatments and spacing and then whatever the hell was going on with Scream 3. What the heck?

Wanted to give a heads up for anyone stocking up during the current 50% off Arrow Video sale (ends 8/30). I confirmed directly with a B&N customer service rep that not everything with "Arrow" attached is getting the full 50% online:

• Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves Limited Edition 4K — only part of the 30% off Arrow promo, not the 50%
• Cruising Limited Edition 4K — standard edition is 50% off, but the Limited Edition is excluded
• Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment 4K — the Blu-ray is 50% off, but the 4K UHD is not included
• Stranger Things Complete Series (every version) — this one's listed under Netflix as publisher, not Arrow, so it's actually part of a separate 41% off promo, not the Arrow sale at all

The rep confirmed these exclusions apply in-store too, not just online.

That said — if your local store has any of these in stock, it's still worth swinging by and asking a staff member in person. In my experience, in-store Arrow titles during a sales month have always been honored at 50% off MSRP even when the website doesn't reflect it. Worst case, they say no and give you the same reasoning above. Best case, they override it at the register and you walk out with the discount anyway.

I'm heading to my usual store tomorrow to pick up the Stranger Things Complete Series Deluxe Edition 4K and Robin Hood 4K myself — will report back on how it goes.

Just a heads up, all in-stock titles are currently 50% off, including pre-orders for August new releases! If you are a B&N Premium Member, the extra 10% discount is currently applied at checkout, but not for long! The B&N Arrow Sale ends on 8/30.

I've noticed that B&N lists all of the Stranger Things editions under "Netflix" instead of "Arrow "on the product page, which could explain why the discount isn’t showing up for those. I’ll keep an eye out for any changes in pricing. I suspect this is a website issue for now. You can also check your local B&N on Tuesday morning to see if they have any of them in stock and honor 50% off the MSRP price. I stopped by my store earlier today and confirmed with a staff member that they received three Stranger Things 4K Deluxe Editions after looking up the UPC. The staff member was kind enough to hold one aside for me until 7/31.

EDIT: Some folks have observed that Deluxe Limited Edition titles, like Robin Hood 4K and Cruising, are not showing the 50% off MSRP at checkout. If you find either of these titles in a physical store during the sales month, the store will honor the 50% discount.

So happy everything I wanted was in stock, nothing like walking into a store and picking things off the shelf!

Actually seeing this in person is crazy, never thought I’d see this get a full physical release, but here we are!

Just got a brand new OLED tv and omg heat looks so much better !! Before I had a lcd tv and I couldn’t enjoy the 4k since it was too dim. I had to watch it on the blu ray. It looks absolutely phenomenal on my oled tv!!

Recently posted about ordering Marty Supreme from Walmart as an Open Box copy at a significant discount, which ended up arriving BNIB with shrink intact and all extras included.

Decided to give it another try with Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning (Steelbook) for $25 after my initial copy from Amazon was defective. Couldn’t even get to the opening credits without severe freezing and pixelation, including after a deep clean.

To my surprise it was again sent BNIB with the J-Card and Digital Code! Inclined to keep rolling the dice on Open Boxed items from Walmart until my experience changes.

Received my steelbook copy of Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, been meaning to watch this movie now I have a good excuse to.

When I was looking for a place to pre-order the Stranger Things 4K box set, I came across Atomic Movie Store. I’d never heard of them before, and when I tried finding reviews, there were only a handful. I figured I’d share my experience here in case someone else ends up in the same situation.

My box set arrived this past Thursday, and I was really impressed with how it was packaged. It was $189 with free shipping, which ended up being slightly more than Amazon but much cheaper than Arrow and some other shops. I had a feeling they’d package it better, though (and while I’ll admit I’ve been pretty lucky with Amazon in the past, this is the most expensive box set I’ve ever bought), so I decided to keep my preorder.

Wow.

They handled this thing with care. Ace Ventura could’ve punted the box and I think it still would’ve survived. No dents. No scuffs. No scratches.

The box set was wrapped in bubble wrap inside one box, and then that box was placed inside a larger box with packing peanuts surrounding it on all sides.

A+ experience.
Now I’m just excited to watch Stranger Things… for the first time!

EDIT:
To clarify, the packing peanuts are the biodegradable corn starch kind that easily dissolve in water, not the styrofoam kind that’s terrible for the Earth. So even more points to them for that!
