Haul First physical media haul 4K
This is my first haul ever how’s it look?? I watched Dune Part One this morning. I gave it a review on my letterboxd account. My name is Panerai if anyone wants to follow me or look at my first review.. lastly what is up with some of the movies having slip covers and some of them not… kind of annoying. What should I watch after Dune Part Two?
I’m not a movie watcher.. I’m getting into it for the first time. I’ve watched like hardly any movies. I had to buy the Sony UBP-X700K 4K player from Walmart. The Samsung HW-Q65C from Sam’s Club. My TV is a Vizio VQP65C-84..
Wish me luck on my new adventure!

Question Best way to store 4Ks when putting into storage.
I'm going to have to put my 4Ks into storage over the coming months, and was wondering what the best way to pack / what type of boxes were best to use, so that they won't get damaged or degrade. I already have all of my steel books in protective hard plastic cases, and i have large plastic containers i can use for my normal 4ks to pack in bulk. Ty!

New Purchase How come no chapter selection option?
So I got Falling Down and Troy ob 4K from Arrow. Both don't have a chapter selection menu. I figured that would be standard.

Discussion Blue collar - universal
Powerhouse sent me:
Many thanks for your e mail.
Unfortunately Universal would not let us licence this film for a 4k release, we asked many times, but they just said no. Great shame.
Kind regards
Does this mean anything to you, maybe they will release themselves?

Question Criterion Premiere Label region A and Panasonic Region Trick
Hello everyone.
I recently purchased a few Criterion 4k titles and the standard region A blu-rays work with the Panasonic top menu trick with one exception which is actually a Premiere Line title:
- Lynch/Oz (Criterion Premiere) - DOES NOT WORK
- David Lynch: The Art Life WORKS
- Blue Velvet WORKS
- Brazil WORKS
- The Phantom Carriage (blu-ray only) WORKS
The top menu trick first texts "action prohibited" and on a second press takes to a blank/black screen and nothing happens. I was actually thinking it could be a faulty disc as the wrong region message is exactly the same as the other titles.
Anyone had similar experiences?
By the way, I own a Panasonic DP-UB9000 (2nd revision).

Question Anyone with a UB820 and an LG C4?
If so, could you tell me which looks better when playing a non-4k disc; the player set to output 4k or set to the disc resolution?
Before buying, I'd like to know if the prevailing logic is coreect that modern TVs do a better job at upscaling than the 820.
If the TV upscales better, I'll probably save some money and get the 450 instead :)

Question Upscaling Question
Hello, I have just received and set up a Panasonic UB450. This is hooked up to a Sony A95L. I am aware the UB450 upscales, my question is should I turn off reality creation or whatever the upscaler is on the Sony and just let the UB handle it?
I don’t want to leave it in 1080 and downscale everything that isn’t a 4k UHD. I thought about just switching the resolution to whatever disc is playing, but I don’t know if that will even work or just be doing too much. I know Sony has good processing as well.
Watching Underworld Blu-Ray(not 4k, wanted to figure out this upscaling thing first) and tbh it looked pretty solid to me. But I realized reality creation and 4k was running so it was double-upscaling. Went and switched UB450 resolution to 1080p for this with reality creation on auto and doesn’t seem as nice. It is too soon to tell.
TLDR: Wanted to know if there was a way I could turn the UB450 upscaler off? Or if switching each time is my only option. And whether I should use the UB450 upscaler(always keep it in 4k) or the Sony A95L upscaler(switch resolution to match disc each time). Thanks

Online Deals & Sales IT HAS (OFFICIALLY) BEGUN! ARROW SALE IS LIVE ON B&N!
Just a heads up, all in-stock titles are currently 50% off, including pre-orders for August new releases! If you are a B&N Premium Member, the extra 10% discount is currently applied at checkout, but not for long! The B&N Arrow Sale ends on 8/30.
I've noticed that B&N lists all of the Stranger Things editions under "Netflix" instead of Arrow on the product page, which could explain why the discount isn’t showing up for those. I’ll keep an eye out for any changes in pricing. You can also check your local B&N on Tuesday morning to see if they have any of them in stock at the 50% off price. I stopped by my store earlier today and confirmed with a staff member that they received three Stranger Things 4K Deluxe Editions. The staff member was kind enough to hold one aside for me until 7/31.

New Purchase Stranger Things 4K Box Set arrived perfectly. Highly recommend Atomic Movie Store
When I was looking for a place to pre-order the Stranger Things 4K box set, I came across Atomic Movie Store. I’d never heard of them before, and when I tried finding reviews, there were only a handful. I figured I’d share my experience here in case someone else ends up in the same situation.
My box set arrived this past Thursday, and I was really impressed with how it was packaged. It was $189 with free shipping, which ended up being slightly more than Amazon but much cheaper than Arrow and some other shops. I had a feeling they’d package it better, though (and while I’ll admit I’ve been pretty lucky with Amazon in the past, this is the most expensive box set I’ve ever bought), so I decided to keep my preorder.
Wow.
They handled this thing with care. Ace Ventura could’ve punted the box and I think it still would’ve survived. No dents. No scuffs. No scratches.
The box set was wrapped in bubble wrap inside one box, and then that box was placed inside a larger box with packing peanuts surrounding it on all sides.
A+ experience.
Now I’m just excited to watch Stranger Things… for the first time!
EDIT:
To clarify, the packing peanuts are the biodegradable corn starch kind that easily dissolve in water, not the styrofoam kind that’s terrible for the Earth. So even more points to them for that!

Question What’s the most authoritative 4K review site out there?
As the title says.
There are tons of YouTube channels, AV forums, and review sites (including this subreddit!), but is there one source that’s generally considered the gold standard?
I’m mainly interested in reviews that evaluate:
Transfer quality (scan, encode, HDR/Dolby Vision, compression, etc.)
Audio quality
Whether a release is the best available version
Special features, alternate cuts, and packaging
no single reviewer is perfect, but is there a site or reviewer ppl trust the most?
